  1. when i switch the wires, the rears are still really soft. i guess i'll try them on a different sound card. i still think the problem might be software related. i definitely don't have hearing loss....
  2. I've had my 4.1's for like 2 years now. When I first bought them, they were ridiculously loud. I had the volume on the speakers turned up about 1/4 of the way and 3 bars on the windows volume meter was blowing me away. Now after all this time I have them turned up half way on the speakers and the volume all the way up in windows and they're not even as loud as they used to be. Also worth noting is that the front two speakers are WAY louder than the backs, which used to be the other way around. I have a SB live value (i know it sux, but it used to work fine). I dont think the problem is software, I've reinstalled all the Creative drivers/software a bunch of times. IS there a problem somewhere? Any suggestions? Thanks Jason
  3. I went to Radio Shack and the guy there told me that the plugs that went into the satellites were mono, not stereo, so if I was gonna attach the 16 gauge wire to the new plug, the pos and neg wires would have to be touching. Is the plug that goes into the satellites mono? Or is it stereo. So basically could you explain the process of what to buy/how to do it? Thanks Jason
  4. Has anyone noticed that even though you've hooked the wires up correctly in the back, the right and left front satellites are switched? I did a test that says "Front right", "Front Left", etc and it said right on the left and left on the right. Anybody else have this happen? Jason
  5. I want to use all 16 gauge speker wire for my 4.1's, but I'm not sure how to hook them up to the 1/8 inch plug (headphone plug). Has anyone done anything like this yet? Jason
  6. Hey guys. I got the Midiland 8200's in the mail today and hooked them up side by side with the 4.1's. Switching between movies and music, I couldn't help but notice how much better and fuller the Klipsch's sound. I had really high expectations for the 8200's, so I was even trying to convince myself that they sound as good. The only thing that was cool was surround in DVD's, but the quality of voices and everything else ruined it for me. So I'm sending them back today. I wish I could've heard them before I ordered them... Jason
  7. I don't know, it let me check it, so I did. I did notice a difference too. The voices were all in the front and some sounds came from the left while others only from the right. Still wasn't that great though. Is it possible that there was some software decoding going on? Jason
  8. So what is your setup? Just the 4.1's and sb live? Will surround work even if it's Value? I watched The Haunting on DVD and different sounds came from the back than from the front. I used PowerDVD and under audio i checked the digital 5.1 decoding option
  9. I was wondering if there's a way I could get the surround effect using the 4.1's. For instance in Gladiator, when he throws the sword and kills the guy on the horse, my friend's digital setup makes the sword come from the back speakers to the front. Pretty cool. I don't have a digital sound card, but I have an old Creative dxr2 decoder card that supports 5.1. (I think) Is there some way I can rig it to give me the surround effect on DVD's and other things? Thanks Jason
  10. Dude, I know exactly what you're talking about. I had similar expectations after my friends talking them up so much. They have quality sound, true, but there's no way they really push 400 watts total. I'm also looking for the main power switch, but have yet to find it. Let me know if you do. Jason
  11. Hi I need some serious advice about the 4.1's vs. Midiland's 8200 digital system. I've heard the 4.1's and they are outstanding. However, I watch a LOT of DVD's and I think I would really like to have digital sound. So if anyone has actually heard the Midiland system and the 4.1's can you give me some unbiased advice? Thanks a lot Jason
  12. I've decided to buy a new Klipsch system, but I'm not sure which one I want. I understand that the 4.1's have stronger satellites, and one powerful sub. But my friend got the 4.2's and says they have better overall sound. I'm more interested in midrange quality, like vocals. So what are the real differences between the sounds? I guess I wanna know which one is better? Jason
