  1. Yep it does have a EQ. You got it right on spending money right now. I'm looking for pretty much about a two year fix. I need to pay off some other debt first and put a new roof on the house first, before I go drop $1200 on a SVS PB12+/2 (that's what I would get for a replacement if I just happened to have an extra $1200 laying around). I did check out Rythmik and found a step better on their site I'm leaning towards. So anything under $200 is well within reason vs. $1200. On the old receiver idea, how do you make the connection? Like hook it up to the cd jacks from the sub out on the current receiver, then out to the sub via the output speakers? I love this sub and would rather just get a rebuilt amp instead of making it into a Frankenstein project, so if anyone has a line on them, let me know. I just don't want to put much more than $200 into it, because it's only worth about $500 in perfect condition from what I've seen. It's given me almost 10 great years.
  2. I have a SW12II with an amp that is on its way out. Im worried about spending a lot of time/money on repairing the amp and it coming back not fixed (nobody seems to have any rebuilds on hand either). I dug around a little and Im wondering if the one I found would work, just wondering if anyone might have some input. Im not worried about the amp fitting in the original location; I just want it to sound about as good as it did when I got the sub. My receiver takes care of most of the operations that the SW12II currently does via the sub out, on a Yamaha RX-V1400. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=3275&item=5732714696&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW
  3. Well after calling tech, it does sound like its the amp. I thought I found a way around it, by not connecting it through the sub out on my Receiver, but yesterday when I turned it on, there was no bass, and then I turned it up and boom it came back on. My question now is if anyone knows of a place that rebuilds Klipsch amps? Tech said they dont have any around anymore and gave me a number to another place, but they also didnt have any, so the guy recommended sending it out to be rebuilt. Id like to find a local place, just in case there are problems, but if I cant then what can you do? Im in Seattle WA. Also anyone have an idea on the cost of a rebuild? Should I just start saving for an SVS system? The guy at the second store didnt seem to realize I was the customer and not a shop and kept saying this guys going to cry when he finds out how much it will cost.
  4. My SW12II recently has acquired a bass problem and I was hoping someone might have an idea to a solution. First of all I know it's not the receiver because I just bought a new Yamaha RX-V1400 thinking my old receiver was the problem. Anyway what happens is while listening to any source the bass will be loud then be softer. In the sense that one time you will play a movie and the bass is really loud, but then you rewind it and play it again and the bass will be a normal level. Do you think it could be the sub cable?
  5. Well What would you guys be willing to pay for a pair. I was thinking around $750.
  6. There's a set on Ebay, that are within pick up range I'm bidding on. I'm the high bidder, but reserve still isn't met, and the person apparently doesn't want me to know what it is. So for now, that's all I'll say about that.
  7. I think the rating on those were 96db or 98db I remember it was pretty high.
  8. Just wondering here currently I have a Kenwood 409 receiver. Some day I will be upgrading, but for now, my front speakers are Cerwin Vega DX-5's. I am thinking about a set of Chorus II's. Would this just be plain stupid at this time? Would the Kenwood be able to supply the power needed? Other speakers are a SW12 II and the rears are rebel KSS-2' and a KV-3 center.
  9. Cant we all just get along? My main vehicle interest is American, but during the week, I drive 88 Integra. Not riced out, but get many complements, on it's clean looks. Now when I was 16 in 1989 my first car was a 69 Chevelle Malibu. A nice car. After graduation, I got a 69 Chevelle SS. 396/4sp. About this time, was when you started to notice pants hanging below a persons butt. What the hell is that all about anyway? Then we noticed younger kids putting money into imports, like we did to our American cars. I'm just thinking that most of the kids grew up around these cars, like I grew up around the American ones, so their interest went there. How many of the import guys have parents with Musclecars? For me, that 396 neck snapping has me hooked plus that V-8 Rumble. Now realistically how many people actually drive their 60's musclecars everyday? I doubt many do, and the price of these cars has shot up dramatically. Here in Washington, its hard to find any good 60'smusclecars for under $15,000. I was looking for a 67 Chevelle SS, and most are between 20 - 25,000. Then you got to find another car to drive during the week if you're like me, and drive 60 miles a day round trip. Anyway I'm way off the subject now, But I feel both cars have their place. So during the week I drive an import and on nice weekends the American pipes will rumble. But to the hard core import guys, I would say don't count out our "unreliable" musclecars, until you've taken a ride in a big block car. I sure have notice a lot more imports on the side of the road lately too, plus more and more, with black bumpers, coming from the exhaust. I think when this all comes to an end though (like mini trucks) young import owners will have a hard time getting any good money out of theses cars. To me when looking for a used import "adult owned" goes a long way. Who would want a used WRX turbo that was raced around all the time? I've been to the street races, and it just kills me to see a car still with the paper plate racing. I'm sorry, there is no way these will be reliable cars.
  10. This link should work, to see the speakers. They are the white ones, in the home theater pictures. If you can tell what model number they are, please let me know. Thanks http://community.webshots.com/user/mr84monte

  12. Hi, When I bought these speakers like 4 or 5 years ago, there was a big mix up. I think the guy I bought them from, was trying to make some extra commission. I wanted some .5's for rear speakers, in light oak (to match the sub) Also wanted a light oak center channel (not sure of the number) but after 2-3 months of waiting, I finally showed up to the store (on the salesman's lunch), to ask what was up. I pre-paid for the center. Well come to find out, I was lost in the system, then when my name was found, they said (why is it in that area buried) Anyway The manager said they can no longer get either of those in light oak, but for all your troubles, let see what we can do. So I ended up with these rears at a discount and a KV3 center for the same price as I was going to pay for the other center, which was $179 less. But the rears do not say what model they are on the backs, and the receipt still says light oak.5 Does anyone recognize these? Thanks This message has been edited by mr84monte on 01-23-2002 at 04:53 PM
  13. Ok, I have to stand up for Kenwood, I was recently forced to upgrade my receiver (I blew my Dolby channel in my old one) since my whole system was already Kenwood and didn't have the money to upgrade my whole system to what I would have wanted, I ended up with the vr-409 I must say, I was very impressed with it, for the cost. But that was after I figured out that my speakers, were not suppose to be set on large (no bass from the Sub came out). Now I have stuff falling off the walls in the back of the house, and no matter where you are in the house, it would seem like the mother ship is landing on your house, from the shakes and rattles. But the two down falls are I think it has a bad capacitor, because sometimes it takes awhile for the center channel to come on (like 5 to 15 min.) but it doesn't happen often enough to take it in yet. It would be the case of "it worked fine for me" I've discussed this already with Kenwood, and the say it's my Klipsch KV2 "yeah right". I have a five year warranty, so I'll wait. The second thing, was the fact I just bought a new cd player 2 years ago, but the system control on the new receiver is not compatible with the old cd player, not allowing the remote control to be used with the cd player. So I ended up buying a 200 disk player, the more expensive one, that can be hooked up to a computer, to download all the info on the cd to the player. (more Money GRRRR) But that is a mistake. I keep taking the cds out to listen to in my car, and end up not putting them back into the player, when I'm done. I'm I sticking up for Kenwood? Or putting them down? Hehe But I am impressed with the great separation out of the speakers when watching a movie. Some movies, you think someone is in your house. Because of the sound coming from behind you, on one side. Freaky, if your watching a scary movie by yourself. You almost have to duck from the bullets wizzing past your head, in Private Ryan
  14. Has anybody hooked up a sw 12 and ksw 12 on the same system? Just wondering how it sounded. Since it's hard to find another sw 12 (med oak) Thought about just trying a ksw 12 out from the store first, before I buy, but if someone has already tried the set up, please let me know. My sw 12 is lonely, and needs a brother.
  15. Well, the tweeter is mounted on a bar type thing that sits in front of the woofer. But now that I'm thinking about it, the name or model number should be on the back of the speaker right? guess I'll have to get the ladder out and see.
  16. First question, I'm trying to find out which rear speakers I have. I had a go around with the store I bought them from, and now I can't figure out what I got (it's been awhile). The speakers are in a metal case, and are white. The receipt shows KG.5 and also KSS2. I think I wanted the KG.5's but they didn't have them. So does anyone know what the KSS2's are? These are about 3 to 4 years old.
