  1. I am impressed with the 3490 too. I bought one for my Cornwalls a couple months ago and I cant expect it to perform any better than it does for the price. Congratulations!
  2. Hi there, I own the same receiver and I really enjoy it. I am curious about what you said about upgrading the power packs. I am interested in upgrading my receiver but I have no DIY experience with electronics. My receiver does not have the darlington power packs. Was this the case with yours? Did you upgrade to the Darlington packs or something else? Did you do any other mods/upgrades? Was the upgrade a DIY? Sorry for all the questions...your post just sparked my interest. Thanks, Jon
  3. Sorry I caught your post 6 years later!!!!!! Ha Ha Ha!!!!! Here is the real 4:20......Dr. Albert Hofman, inventor of LSD first intentionally ingested the drug for scientific experimental purposes at exactly 4:20 pm April 19 1943........ The first ever trip.
  4. Its a Wonderbeast! Good for you Boxx! Its gorgeous.
  5. Thank you all so much! Your suggestions have been very helpful. Just one more question......I never thought of this but I have a Yamaha RX V520 HT receiver laying around that has some problem with the L channel. It is producing lots of static so I cant use it to power my speakers. Anyways I wonder if I can connect the PS3 to the Yamaha via optical cable to 'CD-R MD in' then use the 'CD-R MD" rca outs to connect to my Marantz 'aux in' thereby using the Yamaha as the DAC. Would this be okay to try? Can I cause any damage?
  6. Wow! That was quick! Thank you. I live in Canada and these sellers wont ship to me. I did spot one on Canuckaudiomart for $350 though. Doesnt sound like a bad deal to me.
  7. Thanks Bill, That sounds like the way to go. Now I just need to try and find a used DACMagic! Im thinking they are going to be pretty hard to come by. If I have to buy new then so be it.
  8. Hello, Forgive me if this is a stupid question, I am just a noob! Im using a PS3 with analog cables as a CD player right now. I am not entirely satisfied with the sound quality. My question to you aficionados is; which would be likely to be more beneficial to my system a) a new stand alone CD player [considering Cambridge 640 C V2] or a new DAC [considering Cambridge DACMagic] to run my PS3 through c) any other suggestions? Im hoping not to spend more than $500 and I am open to used goods. The rest of my system is: -82 Cornwalls (just got them!) -Marantz 1530 receiver -Pioneer SX 780 receiver. I am still trialling both receivers to see which I prefer. Thanks to all for your help!
  9. Hi there, I know you posted this a while ago but now I have some input. I recently acquired a pair of Cornwalls after a year and a half of searching. I used a yamaha rxv520 home theater receiver and was very disappointed with what I heard. I found a Marantz 1530 used for cheap. I heard that Marantz were a wonderful match for Klipsch Heritage speakers. I am loving the combination! It sounds better than I could have imagined! However I dont know about your RF3's personally. All I can comment on are my Cornwalls.
  10. I knew the speakers were in my uncles living room for years in my childhood. I didnt know what they were...I didnt even know they were speakers to be honest! As the years past my family moved and I hadnt been to my uncles house in about 20 years. When I finally returned to his house after two decades had past the first thing I noticed was the monster oak cabinets in the corners of the livingroom. "What the hell are those things?" "Those are Klipschorns. Wanna hear them?" And the obsession was born. I was absolutely amazed by what I was hearing and seeing! I knew very little about stereo equipment at the time. I knew that my crappy HTIB was 100 watt per channel. So I asked him "How many watts is your amp? Like 500?" "Nope. 100" Again...amazed. The volume was so loud, almost overwhelming. Yet the music sounded calm, controlled, natural, alive. After I left his house I couldnt stop thinking about the sound. I didnt have any idea that sound like that was possible in your own home. So after spending hours upon hours researching and obsessing about Klipschorns I am including them in my 5 year plan! Get married, have kids, buy Klipschorns.
