  1. I ordered a Beatles Stereo box set from joessportster and it arrived today with no problems at all. I sent him a picture of the money order and he sent the set that day. I'm listening to them now and they are in mint condition!! I just wanted to send a big thank you to joessportser and let everyone know I would not be afraid to buy from him again!!
  2. I'll take your Beatles Stereo box set if its still for sale?
  3. If I get the Dynacos which are obviously tube amps....do I need to get a tube preamp? or will the ss work with tubes?
  4. I might have a chance to get a well regarded solid state preamp but began to think that I really dont know what they do? should I save my money for other gear? How do I know if I even need one? I googled it and came up with tons of technical answers but i'm not very technical. I'm saving my money for a pair of Dynaco Mark III's and would I need a preamp for the Dynaco's? I'm used to just plugging the speakers into the reciever, hooking up the cd player or turntable and listening to the music. Tubes and preamps are all new to me.
  5. the length of the wall is 31"?? or 33" i cant remember?? was moving all day yesterday and all day today.
  6. I guess it would be similiar to a false corner?? Since its a large sized room i'm hoping it dosent affect the sound??
  7. I will be moving into a bigger house in the next few days and need help placing my Klipschorns. I cuurently have them in my mobile home, but one isnt in a good corner and now we have a chance to move into a house that I think has good corners and I'm really, really excited because I can see what these speakers are made of!! I know they need good corners to perform to their potential, but looking at my pictures, will the wall on the left side of the photos be long enough? or does the wall need to be just long enough for the speaker?
  8. There is a pair locally for sale and I was wondering what would be a realistic value for these speakers? They are lacquer walnut and have had a woofer replaced and a small ding on one the sides. I also wanted to know if there was anything in particular that I should look for before making an offer. I have had a pair of Cornwalls and currently have a pair of LaScala's, but deals like this never come up in my area and if I can get them for a good price I'd like to try them out. How do they compare to their big brothers the Cornwall's and LaScala's?
  9. Does different types of music effect how they sound? I listen to all types and since I know nothing about tube amps is this something I should look out for?
  10. I am currently powering my La Scalas with a Pioneer 1250-sx and was wanting to get into tube gear. I have a chance to trade the Pioneer for a Yaqin MC100b or a Eico ST-40. The Yaqin has had many upgrades and the Eico has been fully restored. What do you guys think? I also have a Stromberg Carlson ASR-433 on its way but it need to be restored. Should i use the money from the Pioneer to get the ASR-433 fixed? Or should i just trade off the Pioneer and save my money and fix the Stromberg Carlson later?
  11. Well I guess I have some cheaper alternative solutions to try first. 1.Check the phase 2.Check the sound from both cabinets 3. Clean the crossovers 4. Loosen and tighten the screws on the crossovers 5. Clean it real good If none of these solutions work, should I look into getting the crossovers rebuilt, or possibly getting new ones?
  12. Thank you for the kind words!!! I truely love these speakers!!! I can see why everyone talks so good about them. I thought I would miss the bass from the Cornwalls, but since the room is so big, i dont notice that much of a difference. Yes the crossovers are original and so is everything else. They were in storage for about a year. Do you think that would have hurt the crossovers since they are somewhat exposed unlike the Cornwalls? I'll do some research on those discs you were talking about. Do you think I ought to contact Crites and see what they say? I'd hate to replace something that dosent need it??
  13. I posted on the forum about a month ago weather to trade my Cornwall's for La Scala's. I did and I dont think I'll ever go back!!! As I was listening to them this evening......I know this is going to sound kinda crazy.......but there are certain parts of songs that I cannot hear. For example on "Break On Through" by the Doors, when Ray Manzarek comes in with the organ......I can just barely hear the organ. "Cant You Hear Me Knocking" by the Rolling Stones is the same way??? Same thing goes for certain songs by Sly And The Family Stone. I even did a test on a different system to see which parts I could hear and which parts I couldn't and it sounded as it was supposed to. There are just certain songs that I have listened to literally hundreds of times and I find myself thinking...."thats not how it's supposed to sound!!!" Do think it could be the crossovers? I know the receiver is good. Or what about the tweeters? It makes me not even want to listen to the speakers untill I find the problem!! I apprieciate any help you can give.
  14. I know this is probably a stupid question.....but is there any maintenance for these types of speakers????? I cant go to the seller, so hopefully he'll come to me. Is there any thing I should look for that would be a possible deal breaker or a red light?
  15. I have read that Cornwalls are a great rock speaker. But what types of music sound best on the La Scalas? I guess it really dosent matter when it comes down to it, but since Ive never owned a pair I was just curious??? I guess music without much bass??? right??
  16. I got the 3.5's about 7 years ago...they were my first pair that got me hooked on klipsch. I just recently got the 5.2's about 2 months ago. I never use both pairs since i have the cornwalls and i dont have much money in either pair. I think i have about $200 in both pairs of speakers. The trade would involve all 3 pairs....i was thinking maybe i ought to keep 1 pair and put some money in the deal to make up for the speakers that I keep.
  17. What kind of sub should i get with the La Scalas? should i come up with more money and just keep either the 5.2's or 3.5's.
  18. I listen to ALL tpes of music and i listen to records and cd's. I love jazz performers like Jimmy Smith, Hank Mobley, John Coltrane and Lee Morgan. I love Howlin Wolf and Merle Haggard, Led Zeppelin to The Clash and also love Death Metal. There is really nothing i dont listen to. I do like the bass, but i have nothing to compare my Cornwalls to. I guess it all depends on the room and types of music??? right? Having said all that, which speaker do you think is the best overall???
  19. I posted a couple years back about my new Cornwalls that I got and I received great support and feedback. I ended up getting new tweeters from Crites and they sound amazing. I listen to them everyday. The serial numbers are CWL 8451107 and 08. They are the best sounding speakers I have ever listened to. I am powering them with Pioneer sx1250. I have an chance to trade the Cornwalls and a pair of 5.2's and 3.5's for a pair of all original birch La Scala's from 1984. My living room where the La Scalas will be placed is huge!!!! Its an older house, but it was remodled a few years back and they added 1/3 of the house to have as a living room!!! I'v always wanted a pair of La Scalas and these are 80 miles away. What do you guys think? Is it one of those things where I ask 100 different people and get 100 different answers? I'd like to just keep the Cornwalls and just trade and throw some cash in the deal, but I dont have much money now. I dont know how fond of the birch I'll be either, but I just love my Cornwalls. Decisions, decisions!!!
  20. No....not at all....I know nothing about electronics. Especially how to work on them.
