I'm using a 160 on a sony ps-8750plugged into a scott 222. It is my favorite cartridge over a vintage adc and shure v15. The output is high enough that the maximum volume I use is 5 on a 10 scale.

Received the DL-160 a couple of days ago and mounted it on a Sony PS 8750. The Denon comes with a cool jig to easily set the overhang. I plugged the TT into the Lo Mag input on my HHS 222 and have been floating on a pink cloud ever since. Comfortable listening level for me is 12 o'clock same as my previously favorite cart, a shure v15 III on a technics tt. I believe the DL-160 and DL-110 have the same output voltage so both should work well. If anyone is interested in trying out a mc cart, this is an inespensive way to go.

I pulled the triger on a DL-160 today that I found for a good price. I'll see if the output is high enough for the Scott. If not I'll probably add a step-up transformer. Also looking at the Outlaw RR 2150 which is on sale until the end of the month. It has both mm and mc inputs. But it's solid state. Then I think, what about bi-amping with ss on the bottom and tubes on the top? Just like John Cipollina.

Please disregard my NAD issue. I purchased an OPPO for a little over $50 on Epay and the sound is far superior to the NAD. I'll donate the NAD to Goodwill and let someone else play with it.

I was in a BB about a month ago. The bathroom was very clean and there was warm water to wash your hands.

I'm using a NAD 521i in my 2 ch system. Every now and then the sound drops out for part of a second. Sometimes it will drop out several times in a song and somtimes it won't drop out for several songs. It doesn't matter if the CD player is cold or warmed up. Does anyone have an idea what might be causing this? thanks

Thank you for your help. Looks like the Denon 110 or 160 might work. They are under 3mv but Denon says they are designed to plug into mm inputs on an amp. "The owners manual claims in both English and Japanese 1.6mV of output, but when I tested the cartridge it produced 2.2mV." I'll have to think this over before I risk $$$.

I am having fun with my tubes and horns and am trying different cartridges to find out what sounds best to my budget ears. The question is, how low of an input voltage can I go using the Scott phono preamp? I am looking at a Denon mc cartridge but don't want to get something that won't work. I am currently playing with a Grado black, a Sure v15III, an ADC xlm improved mkII, and a Pickering. All are mm and I wanted to try a mc if my Scotts will handle the task. Thanks for your help.

I have both the HHS 222 and 299D and right now prefer the sound of the 222. It sounds a little warmer and more musical to my ears. Both are great amps IMHO. The 299 has more inputs so you can have two TTs hooked up at once. Both Scotts have been re-caped so the difference I hear my be the difference in caps, I really don't know.

What a Great Thread! I feel truely blessed that I purchased Klipsch in 1985 isead of Polk. It was down to two. And I finally have a pair of Horns in my living room which I'm listening to through with a HHS 222 that I purchased from a forum member and an ADC TT that I purchased from my local record store. I haven't listened to music on my La Scalas since but I still love them. NASCAR sounds great on the La Scalas! And so do movies.

The JH I listened to was from a box set of 8 200g vinyl. there are many out-takes and unreleased so the quality is variable; some very good, some OK. Yesterday I was on my way home after picking up a pair of K-Horn from Rick and heard "NEW JH" on a Seattle radio station. Don't remember the song but they said there was an album too. Sounded Ok but I was listening inside a diesel truck at 70mph on I-5 It's amazing the number of albums dead musicians release.

I have a beautiful Sony PS 8750 DD TT that used to play very well with a pickering cart. I got it out of storage to use in my 2 ch tube, vinyl system and the cue is permantally in the up position. I don't have a service manual and really don't know how to get into the guts. I thought maybe something came loose or something else that might be obvious if I had a peek inside. I'm not a tech., just an operator. Any ideas? thanks

Yesterday I set up my new 2 ch system in the living room. KG 4s in the corners, H H Scott 299D from Mark back east, Technics DD TT w Shure V15III. I listened to Jimi Hendrix, 200 g, brand new. Also Pet Sounds (200 g new) and a live Big Brother (not a great source). I am blown away! I know you folks who have been listening for years and probably have higher quality systems are saying ho-hum but it's new to me and I can't believe the difference between tubes and ss. I have an Integra in my HT and always thought it sounded pretty good through my La Scalas but the tubes really make the KG 4s thump. I heard sounds on Pet Sounds that I didn't know were there. Anyway, I just wanted to share my bliss. It is different sitting down to listen to music rather that the music just being background. I'm a happy camper. btw, Mark did a great job on the amp. It is stone quiet with tele tubes.Half volume fills the room and probably makes the neighbors wonder if there's a party.

They are my favorites also. Bought my first pair new in the mid 80s for $550 or $600 for the pair and still have them in my system. Picked up my second pair last week for $150. I am a very happy camper.

I recently picked up a pair of Kg 4s locally. One of the passive radiators has a cruched dust dome (or whatever you call that rigin in the center). Does this affect the sound? Should I have it replaced? thanks
