  1. Mrtie I sent you a few pm's are you getting them? Thanks....
  2. Some Jvc equipment is very good, I have a integrated amplifier unit that probably can be had for 40.00 bucks that is in service, that in my space with my speakers out performs 5 other amps that I have that cost over 20 times that....I still cant believe what I hear out of it, and the phono stage is also very good..
  3. Challenger1, nice looking speakers, you may want to consider best offers on these... I think your price is a liitle high....good luck with your sale!!!
  4. MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!!
  5. I think that Craig may already have a pair of mono blocks picked out to use with this preamp, somewhere around 60 wpc. Bring those too....
  6. Good luck Craig, work out bugs (not that you haven't) , get to a show or 2 with some pretty wart hogs, a solid very low powered pair of mono's, and you should sell many...
  7. Mr. James, what speakers did you hear with these amps? Just curious....
  8. I would look into an audi a6 with an 8 cylinder engine. Engine will last for 300,000 miles, will go almost as quick as a Boxster will top out faster, and will go almost anywhere like a rangerover, with adjustable ride height, it is a great car. Search audi a8 going up a hill in the snow on you tube. Kinda of funny all the stuck cars and trucks, and the audi just keeps going.
  9. Great for you gentlemen, glad you are O.K.!!!!!!!!!
  10. Was wondering if anyone has used his book "get better sound" or some of his techniques? Seems that he has set up a lot of systems for manufacturers at shows and some hear huge differences in their own set ups after doing so. After reading a bit about it and his "golden ratio" as far as speaker placement, the speakers are placed far into the room, which at looking at pictures on the web, very rarely do I see speakers placed in this manner.. Maybe this has to do with practicality... Thanks, for any input.
  11. In the last 3 yrs, I have tried, a Nak ta4, an onk M504 P304 combo , a Flame linear 700b 4000 combo, a Pioneer sx something, a Technics sa 700, Yamaha mx1000 c85 combo, totl JVC axz 1010tn, Panasonic saxr 55 and 45, a Carver c2 with a Kenwood amp.... These all fell short to a lowly late fifties Pilot SA-260 SP 210 combo..... then again, this is probably, just old mid-fi S.S. gear... My biggest fears with tubes were the bass response, distortion, hum, seperation, wooley sound, quickness, accuracy.... I no longer have these fears.... Tubes can be very good!!!
  12. Hey Thebes, if they gave you a citation that will be dismissed when the repairs are shown to be done. Make sure you pay the courts fees. I received a ticket in Fairfax for a small crack in my windsheild. I went to the court showed that the repair was done and all charges were dismissed... No one told me that I had to pay court fees.... months later I found out they suspended my license.....
  13. Sad to hear, great music maker....
  14. Mallette, I have read many a time about your love of organ music and organs in general, and I thank you for this, it inspired me to buy a pipe organ piece, completly hypnotic, some of it... can this recording that you plan to make be purchased on cd?
  15. Tin Turtle, welcome to the board and nice work!!! Those cabs look different than most we have seen. Keep up the great work, keep the pictures coming and let us know how they SOUND!!!. Good luck!!!
  16. Do the "American thing" try Wasmunds single malt whisky.... Tastes like nothing else....Small batch, American made, very innovative techniques.... worth a taste....
  17. Nice speakers Acasanis[], When you are settled in with them, look into risers, foam inserts, crossover mods and capacitor changes or new crossovers.... all together. Good luck.. Also if you find that the bass doesnt live up to what you think it should be? Look for an amp change.... you might be suprised!!!
  18. Listening to audio reveiw.com on a few purchases.
  19. I agree Pilot amps sound really good... I have a sa-260 sp 210 combo... The bass is amazing...quick ,fast, and it pounds...great mids and nice crisp highs... The sa-232 many feel is even better..... Plus they will only go up in value...
  20. Thanks for posting this Tube Fanatic, fun read !!!! hope things are getting back to normal in your area!!!
  21. Thanks Thebes, I did have pre and amp recapped, and it was sounding really nice, until the right channel sounded a little weak. I dont know what happened to the tubes, and have recently read what you have stated, that they should last a very long time. I had a gentleman out to test all the pre and amp tubes, and this pair, his meter said should be replaced. I switched the Genelex tubes, into the amp, and moved the Telefunkens from there to the pre, and it is sounding much better, but not quite as good as before.. Thanks for the testing offer, thats very kind!!!
  22. Grilled lobster can be amazing!!!! Lots of butter and a few different butter sauces... One salted butter, one spicy, one savory, one with fresh herbs white wine and tomalley, one with just butter and a very small amount of old bay....twice baked potatoes, and a very nice salad and we are good to go. I will try to set it up... I'll PM you!!! Cant wait to hear your new direction and new finds!!!
  23. $10 for a Tuner is a Steal ! --- Where did you find that? You should pay a visit to my place and pick up your Receiver. I have read some of yours and others posts on MOG, I would love to hear it!!. I found the tuner at a local thrift looking for some vinyl... Lets get together soon... still waiting for that Klipsch party at your house... I'll bring the lobsters....
  24. Thanks Sheltie Dave, for the site... I was out "junking" yesterday, and after reading parts off this site, I found one of their, recommended tuners, a yamaha t-85 for 9.99....... sounds very different, than any tuner, I have heard..... It sounds better than the sony xdr-F1 I use to have... Thanks!!!
  25. Thanks Guys for the info!!! I will try the electro harmonix and get some tested NOS Telefunkens. There is also some crazy tube fanatic guy around here that tried to send me a pair of matched vintage 12ax's for free..... What kind of place is this... Thanks Gentlemen!!!!
