  1. Nice work and thanks for sharing, if you have a chance show us your bevel cutting technique....
  2. If you have a slightly odd sense of humor? You should check him out!!!!
  3. For some strange reason, the year my daughter graduated from the College of Santa Fe, Hugh Downs was the commencement speaker. One of the worst speakers I have ever heard. Rambling and incoherent would be putting it mildly.Bruce I think Clint Eastwood just took the cake....
  4. Avoid cooking bacon while naked... That is funny!!!
  5. Well, actually it did, it filled a huge hole, I had in the upper mid range. Now if I could get the chion-in bell in my house, I would be set on the low end.
  6. How funny, my five year old whom is fixated on bells has the same bell and many more. He knows by computer sound, over 100 different bells in europe, asia, and america. I never want to hear a bell again!!! Unless it is in person!!!
  7. I swam in lake waco on my way to austin, never seen water that color..... very odd
  8. Coytee, I am in minnesota, and I dont think there are any in this state? Later this summer I should be traveling to western ny, I know there are a pair in buffalo. Maybe I can get an invite??? Cutthroat If I hear a pair and like them which I am certain I will!!!! You will be my first invite, Thanks again for letting me hear your horns!!!
  9. Congrats post lots of pictures, I am so close to making "THAT" phone call, but I love my present system and need to here a pair first. Great for you!!!
  10. No dislike for our brit friends, just not fond of giant baby heads and sick children in hospital beds, being traumatized by people in odd black suits.
  11. I wish they had failed with the video also
  12. Thanks Miketn, Speakerfritz and Tubefanatic for all of your help. I was able get readings of 899 and 900 on A/B channel and 00.5 and 01.2 for balance. Thanks gentlemen!!!!
  13. GR as I remember it, on each of the 19's crossover plates, there are rivets that are connected to the circuit board, that due to age, cause resistance that degrade the sound due to oxidation. The fix is to ground the rivets with a wire jumper. I haven't done this myself, because my 19's came with outboard crossovers that bypass the originals. Many have had great success doing this quick fix. If you search the A board under m19 ground lug, you should be able to find it. If you have trouble finding it let me know.
  14. Great for you GR! 17 hours WOW you do have it BAD. Now call the Darst's, rebuild those crossovers and do the lug bypass. Enjoy!!!
  15. Thanks Miketn didn't know it should be biased with the variac set at 117v so this evening I will redo the procedure. As far as the fluctuations, the multimeter was moving up and down about 5mv. As far as the rebuild all electrolytics in the unit were replaced in the bias, rectifiers and power supply. Thanks
  16. Thanks Speakerfritz, I will look into it... are there any brands you would reccomend? Are there specific brands made for audio? Or should I be looking for an industrial or medical grade unit?
  17. Finally found a staco variac locally, to reduce my wall outlet voltges from 124.6 to 110, and tried biasing my pilot sa-260 for the first time, and the meter is jumping around a bit. What would be the acceptable range for this type of amp in millivolts as far as the meter jumping. My technician says I should bias at 900 mv opposed to 1volt like the sams photo fact reccomends, for tube life and other things (he speakes egyptian to me). Also how will biasing it lower affect the sound? Thanks any help will be appreciated.
  18. That's awesome, you should be very proud. Thanks for sharing!
  19. I would find a place and run don't walk. The potato mashers in those I have seen sell for over 4500
  20. Thats very sad..... It was very hot here the other day so i decided to give a nestling a drink of water and a light spray to perhaps cool it off. It seemed to enjoy it at first, even taking sips of the spray, next thing I see it flop out of the nest on to the gound. So I get ladder put it back in the nest, and it pops out again... I place back again and it is still there..... I thought for sure it was back to the rescue shelter...
  21. I have 19's and have owned 2 pairs of Cornwalls, to me there isn't much of a comparison here. From what I have read the Cornscala is a much better comparison. I dont think it is a matter of splitting hairs, alot of this has to do with your musical tastes. Altec's sound very different than Klipsch speakers to my ears. One good thing about Cornscala's if they are on par with M19's, is that they are much smaller than 19's. I am sure someone has heard both and will be able to chime in..
  22. LT try contacting Cut T he knows much more about this type of speaker than I, or maybe other members can chime in? If you have a chance listen to CT's speakers, great guy great eq....... I had a great time when I was there!!!! Thanks Cut-Throat!!!!
  23. I have heard Cut- Throat's Tekton 4.5's, with a sub, they are definetly one of the most suprising things I have heard in audio.... it is almost silly how good they sound....
