  1. The S/N is also stamped on the cabinet. On the back side edge of the opening near the crossover.
  2. Nope not Tannoy ------------------ http://www.geocities.com/mpgwagon/audio.html
  3. The Karlson's Sound much like my La Scala's. The main thing you would notice is they have bass response Scala's would die for. The bass drivers are 12's, old Lafayette 12's at that! ------------------ http://www.geocities.com/mpgwagon/audio.html
  4. Thanks for the info! Anybody else have these? The pair I have are Fruitwood. What about "Tuny" Drivers and networks? I can't find any info on "Tuny" on the web. ------------------ http://www.geocities.com/mpgwagon/audio.html
  5. Help me out! I've had these forever and no one can tell me what they are. The drivers are "Tuny LTD". The pic shows them next to my Scala's, yeah there big. The woofer is angled toward the top of the cabinets. The horn tweeters are mounted in the horn shaped cutout. The quality looks much too good for home built. Yes, they sound good. ------------------ http://www.geocities.com/mpgwagon/audio.html
  6. Anyone have one of these? What are your thoughts? Seems to get good reviews and the price is right. ------------------ http://www.geocities.com/mpgwagon/audio.html
  7. Yes, Try to audition them at home and you'll see. I could not believe how bad the sound was on some models. ------------------ http://www.geocities.com/mpgwagon/audio.html
  8. Alpine CD, Polk's in the doors and dash, MTX amp, JBL Sub. Sounds like crap. Nothing worse than vibrating sheet metal! http://www.geocities.com/mpgwagon/myranger.html ------------------ http://www.geocities.com/mpgwagon/audio.html
  9. Large horn speakers = Big Sound. I tried using smaller speakers with my Scala's, just did not work. My current set up is very seamless and surprisingly well voice matched.I use 2 speakers in series for my center. http://www.geocities.com/mpgwagon/audio.html ------------------ http://www.geocities.com/mpgwagon/audio.html
  10. Splinter "Harder to Live" on Dark Horse Records. Featuring "Hari Georgeson" on Guitar. George Harrison uses this name on Splinter LP's. I have a promo disc and it's killer with my Scala's. Splinter "The Place I Love" is great also. http://member.nifty.ne.jp/t-eban/dhspl.html ------------------ http://www.geocities.com/mpgwagon/audio.html
  11. Klipsh. Lascala. Hershy. Hersy. ------------------ http://www.geocities.com/mpgwagon/audio.html This message has been edited by mpgwagon on 08-12-2002 at 05:35 PM
  12. They are finished like my 76's. Mine have cherry stain with clear lacquer. I don't think I would sell mine for any less than $2000. Nice ones are tuff to find. ------------------ http://www.geocities.com/mpgwagon/audio.html
  13. There was a pair of home made Khorns in our local paper for $475.00. This was about 2 months ago and the ad ran for 6 weeks! I called and was told they had Klipsch components. Most of us want the real deal. ------------------ http://www.geocities.com/mpgwagon/audio.html
  14. By all means stay with Yamaha. The Yamaha sound,IMHO, is a much better match. Not as harsh. ------------------ http://www.geocities.com/mpgwagon/audio.html This message has been edited by mpgwagon on 07-27-2002 at 03:01 PM
  15. Walked into Goodwill today and bought a near mint pair of Sansui SP-3500 speakers for $25.00. They sound very good. They even have horn tweets and mids!! Anybody know anything about these? I see they go pretty high on ebay. ------------------ http://gallery.consumerreview.com/webcrossing/images/MYSTUFF.jpg
  16. La Scala Bass is fine as is. Remember in the Klipsch line there is ONLY one speaker that will out perform Scala's... Khorns, and there really isn't that much difference in their sound. You don't need a sub, but it does not take an expensive sub to add more bass. I've found that my KSW12 does fine. The answer is to keep the sub level down. It doesnt take much to really add to what some feel La Scala's lack. Yeah if you have corners get Khorns. If your room doesn't allow for Khorn's and you want the Khorn sound the only choice you have is Scala's/Belle's. Nothing else comes close. ------------------ http://gallery.consumerreview.com/webcrossing/images/MYSTUFF.jpg This message has been edited by mpgwagon on 07-14-2002 at 04:58 PM
  17. Dean loves those RF's & they are good... But they are not the flagship Klipsch speakers and don't come close the real thing. "Heritage Make No Excuses" ------------------ http://gallery.consumerreview.com/webcrossing/images/MYSTUFF.jpg
  18. I've been in the Spray Painting profession for 30 years. I can do class "A" paint on anything. I can cut a board 3 times and it's still to short! If you need more pics let me know. Good luck, we'll want pics when you're done. ------------------ http://gallery.consumerreview.com/webcrossing/images/MYSTUFF.jpg
  19. Tom: The front panel is 10.75". There is about (it's really hard to get anything in there to measure) 1/4" between the flanges on the horns measured inside the cabinet. Look at the attached pic. (space.jpg). Hope this helps! ------------------ http://gallery.consumerreview.com/webcrossing/images/MYSTUFF.jpg This message has been edited by mpgwagon on 07-06-2002 at 10:31 AM
  20. Hi Welcome! Great speakers you have. Your best choice would be more Cornwalls for center and surround. Any of the other "Heritage" speakers will work also. ------------------ http://gallery.consumerreview.com/webcrossing/images/MYSTUFF.jpg
  21. Yes!! Get the La Scala's A lot has been said here about La Scala's lack of bass. My reply is,insert Pauls yellow (Bull$#/+) button here!!. If the bass is there and they are setup right they will reproduce it, like it should be reproduced. Don't think so?? Then listen to some live Jazz then listen to Scala's. The bass from a pair of Scala's sounds like it should. No it doesn't sound like the Bass from the some Honda Civics I hear running around, but I don't want bass that sounds like a vibrating trunk lid! I see no need for a sub. I have a sub for Movies, Don't even use it there. IMHO ------------------ http://gallery.consumerreview.com/webcrossing/images/MYSTUFF.jpg
  22. Ray: Those who have not heard them "Bigolhorns" just don't know, do they? I'm working on getting a 2nd pair of Scala's, I should have them by this weekend. I'll have the center problem too. I think I'll go Heresy unless.... I find a 5th La Scala. ------------------ http://gallery.consumerreview.com/webcrossing/images/MYSTUFF.jpg This message has been edited by mpgwagon on 07-04-2002 at 12:30 AM

  24. Receiver power ratings test: Test was ran using my Scala's and Yamaha CD player. This is a very sceintific test done under controlled conditions. Remember I'm a professional DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME! 1970's Technics SA-404 rated 45 wpc. Has power level indicators starting at 2 wpc and notched volume control (40 notches): 1st. notch: very low volume 2nd. notch: normal listening level 3rd. notch: Ok, some passages too loud 4th. notch: The neighbors get mad 5th. notch: The 2 wpc lights start too blink 6th. notch: This is insane. 7th. notch: The next light (5.7 wpc) starts to blink. 8th. notch: I'd have to be crazy! But I'd sure like to see the next light(16 wpc)blink! May have to get some Bose to see it. 2002 Yamaha RXV 620. Rated 100 watts X 5. Volume range -99 to zero -90: can't here it -80: can't here it -70: very low volume -60: low volume -50: Background music level -40: Normal listening level -30: OK, some passages too loud -20: The neighbors get mad, starts to clip -10: I'm afraid to push it!. Don't get me wrong I like the Yamaha very much but like most new receivers it's power level rating is very optimistic. ------------------ http://gallery.consumerreview.com/webcrossing/images/MYSTUFF.jpg
  25. Ray is right on! I can completely change the way my Scala's sound by moving them, or myself, only a few inches!! So rather than tweek I simply move them! ------------------ http://gallery.consumerreview.com/webcrossing/images/MYSTUFF.jpg
