  1. I want to buy a pair of used surround sound Atmos speakers that are angled downward for use as rear back L/R speakers. I will pair them with my existing RF-83s, RC-7, and RS-62s to make a 7.1 system. These downward facing speakers didn't exist several years ago when I bought my current speakers (the RF-83s I got off this forum), so I am not sure how many used ones are out there. I am in MD, 30 minutes north of Baltimore. I am fine paying for shipping if it doesn't add too much (where I might as well buy new).
  2. Is this receiver still available? I am looking to upgrade to a receiver with HDCP 2.2 so I can watch 4k content. (I currently have a Pioneer SC-82.) I have bought a couple items off this forum but it has probably been almost a decade. Thanks.
  3. I have a Sansui 7070 stereo for sale. It works and sounds great. All of the bulbs work. There is no "hiss", or any scratching when turning the volume knob. The plastic veneer is peeling off in a couple places. A couple years ago a local audio shop, Just Audio in Baltimore, went through it and fixed any issues. Really the only thing they had to do was change a couple bulbs. I have the receipt and can give it to the buyer. I am in Bel Air, MD which is north of baltimore. I don't particularly want to ship but I will if required and the buyer pays for it. I have posted this on Craigslist: http://baltimore.craigslist.org/ele/5853824834.html $300obo I will be traveling for work the week of Nov. 14 and the for a week and a half starting Nov. 26, so I won't be able to demo the unit, etc. during that time, but I will monitor the posts and answer as needed. Thanks. Chris
  4. I am selling a RC-62 (not II) in cherry. It is essentially cosmetically flawless but if you look closely you might find some imperfection. Works without issue. I upgraded so I no longer need it. I would much rather sell locally but I will ship if no one local is interested. I am in Bel Air, MD, between Baltimore and PA/DE. Buyer pays shipping. I am not sure what the going rate is for this speaker is so I will negotiate. $250obo

    SOLD!

Thanks Chris! Will pack with EXTREME care!! I received the speaker from Daryl without any issues. It was very well packed. Shipping was expensive but we live on opposite coasts and I had to take what I could get. I immediately noticed the better clarity of the RC-7 versus my RC-62. The cherry finish is different between it and my RF-83s but it is only noticeable when the speakers are right next to each other.

    SOLD!

I just paid darylomer12 for it so barring any overnight changes it should be mine.
  7. Shipping wouldn't be too bad on the center. Like I said I'd take that off your hands.
  8. I would be interested in the RC-7 only if (or when) you are willing to split up.
  9. Is the cherry veneer of the RC-7 the same color as the cherry veneer of the RF-83s? Anybody have the two speakers in cherry who can confirm if they are the same or "close enough"? Thanks.
  10. I swapped fuses and generally poked around inside. It was not the fuses but when I tested it all the channels magically worked. I am guessing there is a loose wire or other connection somewhere which I "fixed" when I was poking and prodding the wires. Hopefully it stays working. Thanks.
  11. Good idea. Is there directionality to the fuses, i.e. current should flow in one direct but not the other? They have a purple band on one side and the wire in the fuse is asymmetric--one side is coiled like a spring.
  12. I have a B&K Reference 3220 amplifier (that I purchased from the Garage Sale) and one of the channels is not functioning. There is some sound coming from the channel but it is very low. I have done the usual troubleshooting to isolate the problem to the amp. The volume dial on the back of the amp does change the volume. It seems like the amp is not actually amplifiying the signal. Looking at the manual it lists seemingly this problem and says a blown rail fuse as the possible cause. There are 3 pairs of glass fuses (2 pairs on the left vertically orientated boards and a pair on the right vertically oriented board). Are these the rail fuses for the 3 channels? I have popped them all out and there is nothing obviously wrong--they all look the same (2 of the channels function correctly). Though I have not yet checked with a multimeter to confirm an open or closed circuit through the fuses. Are there any other causes it could be that would be simple to fix? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
  13. I bought the B&K 3220 from talmadge. The transaction was without issues (talmadge had good communication and I never had any reservations) and the amp arrived in great condition and sounds really nice. It definitely has greater clarity, depth and power over my receiver. I hesitated in posting here because I was afraid someone would offer something just outside what I wanted to spend, and I would be enticed to spend more than I wanted to. Of course this is exactly what happened but I rationalized it to my wife that it was a good enough deal on a great amp. Thanks talmadge.
  14. PM sent. I was worried someone would offer an even better amp just outside my desired price.
  15. I will look into the DBX amps; I have not heard of them before. Thanks for the CL link, I will look into that. And PM replied. Is there anything a 200 W/ch amp gives you that a 100 W/ch does not (other than volume headroom)? Will a higher power amp sound better than a lower power one? What is the point in having a huge amount of headroom if all that headroom is too loud? Since Klipsch speakers are so efficient, wouldn't a 50 W/ch drive them to a distortion free loud volume in my open floor plan 20'x20' living room? The RF-83s are rated at 100 db @ 1 W which is quite loud.
  16. I am interested in buying a 3 channel amp with at least 100 W/ch to drive my RF-83s and RC-62. I am curious to hear the differences between my receiver and using separate amplifiers. I am looking for an Acurus, Adcom, Parasound, Rotel, Marantz, etc. for $300 or less. I would be fine with a pair of identical stereo amps.
  17. You are correct, tmassey, I never did get around to giving a review of the RF-83s (and the RS-62s I bought after the 83s). In short, they are really nice--much better than my RF-62s and S-1s--I need to upgrade my receiver. I need to write a little better review and provide pictures of my living room and pool room in my house I bought over the summer. I want to find/buy a (2nd) big picture to go above my TV in the living room (which is a tall wall due to vaulted ceilings). I am waiting for Ikea to change their art so I can complent the picture I bought a couple months ago. That will pretty much finish the living room. (Assuming I do not get furloughed due to sequestration.)
  18. Thanks for the advice. I think I have come up with, at least, a temporary solution. I wanted to connect through the Onkyo to utilize the audio streaming, but it occured to me that I could just connect my PS3 (which I never mentioned) to the Sansui via the RCA connection. I just have to change the audio to output through the RCA connection instead of the HDMI (which is connected to the Onkyo). I still have to manually switch speaker cables, but the switch boxes are a good idea that I will probably implement in the future.
  19. So if the Sansui is off or unplugged is there any damage that could occur with the Onkyo sending a signal to the Sansui? If not, it sounds like I can hookup the RCA cables (permanently) and switch between the speaker wires from each receiver and hookup the speaker output from the receiver I want the fronts to be powered by.
