  1. So if that is how big the mouths are how big are the throats? Sorry for the confusion on the question.
  2. Bjorn what size is your opening? 116cm2 throat:D
  3. That would be one LARGE chunk of Mahogany that hopefully has a very low moisture content. Either way I am sure you will be just fine.
  4. My 3.3" cost about $10 each. Then add in a CD and MDF scrap and I should be under 200.
  5. Funny I was looking at trying to use my four 3.3" drivers with possibly a DE250 CD on a mid horn over an 18". Keep seeing threads like these to remind me to start something already.
  6. If you were wanting budget why not build the DR 250/280 instead? You wanted the best so dont quit now. Just keep saving and then be done. I am still saving for my next build and once I finally get the next upgrade done I will be done. Wont be upgrading anything anymore. BUT I also wont be settling for mediocre either. If I had the room that would change some things also. But I digress.
  7. I dont think cutting it in half would be the answer. If wanting to be cheap then just building ported boxes would have been cheaper also. 42hz tuned single 15" cabinets would be easy. Less wood costs also. I am still saving up for the straight dual 12" horn I want to build. Evert hing seems to take me years to build and I have a very small budget even after waiting that long.
  8. Two cabinets like Dana's J2 design or something else? I am trying to figure out what your trying to do. And why are you trying to cut it in half?
  9. Yes it is a ribbon. All honesty, I would think it would not have the horsepower to keep up. I can think of some other ribbons that would but those will never be an option. I would go with the Beyma TPL-200 if I really wanted a ribbon/AMT. But I know the Raal has just a touch more sparkle above 10Khz and above. BUT I will have to listen to the 402 before I say I need anything else. My experience so far is that on the highs on normal spl levels in a room I have never heard a CD that sounds as good as the AMT's or ribbon tweeters. BUT there are not many ribbons that are used for pro audio unless they are large and that would become a problem with directivity matching. The Raal supposedly can take 200w which in theory would be plenty loud for a tweeter. BUT the Beyma TPL can take a lot more abuse from my experience. But again I am only curious. I know that some of the Khorn upgrades have a Beyma supertweeter so I was only curious on that area of improvement. I know JBL does this on some of their larger 3/4way designs also but I have not heard them. So again just ideas. For the most part I am going to build a straight dual 15 horn possibly(JWC please ) or straight dual 12 design. JWC's Then add a EV horn for the top. Will have to wait some time to save for the 402. I will more than likely be very happy with the final combo. I just know that when I changed the mains in my living room I was amazed the difference in sound when I went from ribbon/amt's back to CD. And while that was shocking the one thing I REALLY miss are the dynamics you get fom these straight horn designs. Its been a long journey with very little money. So I am tryng to learn as much as I can and hopefully get what I want in a system in the end. Just looked at some PM's I have that were from 2010. I remember writing those PM's and it felt like a year ago. So this year I am finally going to make some saw dust. And hopefully my dual 21 FLH will be able o keep up with the mains.
  10. What is the horn at the top? And what freuency does it cover? Always been curious about building one of these monsters but possibly using a Raal at the top. That being said I have never heard the 402 so I will wait to hear everything before I go adding ribbons.
  11. Ya I think anyone that can read and draw would be just fine buiding this. DO we know exactly what parts I the plans measurements is slightly off?
  12. Awesome to see some SH's mixed in with some Klipsch bass bins. I will be building a large dual 21" FLH for fun for my bass and hopefully someday have some SH's to go with it.
  13. Ah thanks for that. The Dayton option would be cheaper for me also. Hmmm. More decisions for me.
  14. Sorry if it was mentioned but what 15's are you using? If I do go the Jamboree route I will most likely be using one of the BC 15 options. They end up being cheaper than the Crites Stamped 15's when delivered to me.
  15. Just be happy that you dont have to pay 120 dollars per sheet for 18mm plywood. I am still trying to decide on whether to build the Jamboree or the dual 12" Trac by JWC. Maybe JWC has a dual 15:D I look forward to your progress.
  16. So when are you going to build a Micro wrecker or a Lilwrecker subwoofer? One is a bit hotter from 20hz and up and the LW has more extension and spl then the F20. Just saying is all.
  17. What center channel are you using? I almost wanted to build those beasts until I saw how big they were and how little amount of room I have. 942-4/Jubilee is about as big as I can go. But someday I will have my other room to compare tracks.
  18. LOL I wonder if she will go with that sort of thinking. [] A room to call my own would be easier.
  19. That looks great. Although the size of these beasts would also look like a designer fridge I wonder if my wife would like this more.
  20. Ok alittle more than I thought but this is the cost of shipping to Sydney. 1388 lbs (630 kg) = Door to Port USD $2,700 2) 597 lbs (270 kg) = Door to Port USD $1,200 TH50 $3132 each (2 units plus pallet = 530 lbs) DTS10 $2958 each (2 units plus pallet = 650 lbs) DTS20 $2998 each (2 units plus pallet = 500 lbs) TH118 $3173 each (2 units plus pallet = 410 lbs) TH212 $3173 each (2 units plus pallet = 350 lbs) DBH218 $5622 each (2 units plus pallet = 630 lbs) All All subs but the TH221 would be under 635lbs. And shipping for the SH is very cheap comparitively speaking. But I was wanting to stick with the Klipsch stuff because they have always been my favorite. Ever since I lived a few minutes from the headquarters I have always liked them. So its hard for me to be swayed but I always liked to see what else is there. Just need to see how I am going to aquire my own set up monster Klipsch speakers without paying double the price. And yes they would be dificult to move . An And since they said there were three pallets how did your gets damaged rodrocket?
