Ok.. its the right woofer. It kind of sounds muffled or distorted or both. I took the speaker off and checked the connections. They seem fine. My next step wil be to switch the two woofers to see if the problem follows the speaker. Then I'll know if its the speaker or something else (wiring or crossover).. If it turns out to be the speaker.. where on Klipsch's website do they sell replacement parts? Or do I have to purchase them somewhere else?

It seems something happened to my C7 when I moved into a new apartment. The right speaker sounds as if it is blown. The tweeter and left speaker sound fine. Is there anywhere to get a replacement speaker for them anymore? What all is involved in replacing the speaker? Thanks in advance..

Well, I took the plunge and invested in one of the Xantech remote extenders. This thing is incredible! I can put my Pronto behind a pillow and the signals are still received.

Malcolm - Let me know how that works out. I looked at the Xantech products and they seem to be pretty nice. I have a couple extra cables running through the wall from my TV so they would work for me. I just dont wan't to spend the $150 or so to buy that setup and find out that it isn't any better than the $20 Recoton units.

Ok.. I just moved into a new house that was prewired for my speakers. I have all of the A/V equipment in a closet. I bought a Recoton Remote Extender so I can still control everything by pointing the remotes at the TV. The problem is that the Recoton model doesnt seem to be very sensitive. It is about 16 ft from the couch to the TV and it will not pick up the signals that far. I was looking for some advice from others that have used remote extenders. I want a model that can pick up the signals from across the room and also has a fairly wide angle that it can pick up from. I know X10 has the Powermids but don't know if they are any better than the Recoton unit. Anyone have some advice for me? Thanks, Gno

I don't think you are supposed to put anything behind them. They need the air volume in the wall/ceiling. I would imagine that they have been engineered so that dust won't be a problem since they have to be left open.

Does anyone know how does the RC-7 sounds with KLF-20s? Wife won't let me buy the center now because we are closing on a new house so, if all of the C7s are gone, I may need to find something else.

..have they all been sold? I've been watching ubid for about a week now and haven't seen any C7s for sale

So I guess my only option would be to glue another layer of vaneer on the speakers and stain that. Hmm..

Anyone know? I don't want to trade because I'm not doing it right now and am not sure what color we will stain it. -Gno

Does anyone know how thick the wood vaneer is on the KLFs? The reason I ask is that I have a black pair of 20s and was wondering if its possible to sand them down to the bare wood and stain. Has anyone tried this or know if it can be done? -Gno

Ok, as much as I would love a KLF-C7 for my center channel, it is WAY to big for the WAF. What are my other choices for smaller centers that still sound good and are fairly closely timbre matched? -Gno

I'm in the process of building a new house and had the opportunity to have all of my speaker wires run into a clsoet where I will house all of my audio/video equipment. I would like to find a fairly inexpensive rack to house the equiiptment in this closet but still allow me easy access to the cabling behind the rack. Any recommendations?

Is there anyone that has heard the reference subs that could compare them to the SVS subs?

Ok.. currently I have a pair of KLF-20s for my fronts, a pair of SS-1s for my rears and a VERY bad center channnel that cost around $20 when I bought it 6 yrs ago. I do not have a sub yet. For my next speaker purchase, should I upgrade my center channel to something that can be heard over the KLFs (KLF C7 or RC-7) or should I get a sub?

Surely if little Bose Acoustamass systems can satify people for a home theater (who knows why), then the Quintets with a nice sub would definatly be a step up from Bose. This is assuming that the size of the system is playing a big factor in the decision. If its not so much the size, maybe look into the Synergy 6 setup. Gotta say though, I love my KLFs if size isnt a factor!

I was reading on Yamaha's website one time and was comparing a receiver from the HTR line and the RX line that were basically the same receivers for different distribution chains. The HTR line rated power at 1000 HZ while the RX line rated it from 20-20K Hz. They say on their website that the amps are identical but they are rated this way because the standard for rating power in specialty shops was 20-20k Hz and the standard for mass retail was to show power at 1000 Hz. I was just browsing around on Ebay and noticed that they have at least 3 auctions for the RF-7s (at around $1500) and at least one each for the RC-7s and RS-7s. Just a FYI for anyone who might be interested.

Does anyone know where I can find a chart of the frequency response of the KLF-20s? I was interested to see where the peaks and valleys are and what the low freq falloff looks like. Thanks in advance.

Well, I did it. I convinced her to let me get the Legends (Although I think she is going to have free reign with putting up curtains in the new house now.)They only had black available but that was ok. They sound great! The only problem now is that they completely outclass my center (which is ancient and was like a $20 speaker).. I guess that will be my next purchase whenever I'm allowed to spend money again.

Thanks for the advice.. although the WAF may force me to get the RF-3s We'll see how well I can convince her. Maybe I can get her to listen to them and hear the difference. Thats how I convinced her that we didn't want the RB-3. Mr. Blorry: yep, Audio Video Systems.. but they have recently been bought out by Tweeter. The one thing I hate about buying Klipsch in Charlotte is that they are the only people that sell them here so their price matching doesnt help. Generally have to buy them at retail price. I have a chance to get either a pair of RF-3s or a pair of KLF-20s for the same price. What should I do. Currently all I have is a pair of SS-1s and am basically building my system. Receiver is a Yamaha RX-V800..
