  3. USNRET, The Belles are gorgeous. What veneer was used on them? GLWS, hornlover60
  4. Forum Experts, I am the owner of a set of original Belle Klipsch speakers. Does anyone have recommendations for improvement of the speaker components or cross over networks? The oiled oak veneer is fairly beat up. Do you have recommendations on veneer sourcing? I was thinking of using a walnut veneer followed by several coats of polyurethane. Thank you in advance, hornlover60
  5. Can anyone help me determine what this unit is worth? It is solid state from the 70's, works beautifully with owners manual. Thank you, hornlover60
  6. To USNRET, JASON STR, RYANM84, and MUEL , Thank you for your responses. I appreciate your information. I apologize for not responding in a more timely fashion. Sincerely, Hornlover60
  7. Klipsch woodworkers, Does any one have experience re-veneering a set of Belles? They are clad in beat up oiled oak. I need your experience before I undertake this project. I am also planning on replacing the black frayed grill cloth. I was thinking of using walnut, any other suggestions? How much veneer would I need, and suggested suppliers. Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated. Thank you in advance. Kind regards, Hornlover60
  8. Today, I scored a set of Bells in oiled oak. Can anyone tell me when they were made? S/N BKOO17-9904001 and BKOO17-9904002. They have AB2 crossovers, speakers are stock. How good of a crossover is an AB2? Should I seriously consider replacing or installing new caps from B. Crites? The construction appears to be plywood and MDF? Please correct me about the construction, whether it is plywood and/or MDF. Thank you to all who answer in advance. hornlover60
  9. I am looking to purchase LS 1 speakers in the Chicago area. If you have some for sale please let me know. Thanks, hornlover60
  10. To: Willland, duder1982, jhoak, and toolz Thank you for your input on my question. The belles I wanted to buy were sold before I could see them. Thanks again, hornlover60
  11. Does anyone have experience veneering belles? Can the top hat be removed from the base cabinet? Is the grill cloth easily removed for veneering? Thank you in advance, hornlover60
  12. Audiophiles, I need your input and knowledge. I have a chance to purchase La Scalas with Crites cast bass, tweeter and crossovers. They physically look beat up and are stored in a barn. Or I could purchase a pair of original La Scalas that are more attractive to the eye and are stock for the same amount of money. As far as the Crites modified La Scalas go, has anyone made these modifications and how happy are you with them? Or should I look into ALK modifications for crossovers and speakers for the La Scalas? Any input you could offer would greatly be appreciated. Thank you in advance, hornlover60
  13. John Chi-Town, Midwest Audio in the NW burbs repairs equipment. They are located near Algonquin Rd and Golf. I only had one experience with them repairing a Crown preamp. Be prepared for a lengthy wait before repairs are made. Good luck on your repairs, Hornlover60
