  1. Seb, Are you referring to the Klipsch v.2-400 speakers, or the Klipsch 4.1's? I thought the Klipsch 4.1's have only been out since January, so I'm assuming you mean the Klipsch v.2-400? I also have had the v.2-400 for over a year and a half now, and have never had any overheating problems, or problems period with the speakers minus the problems with crackling due to the pod. However, my original Klipsch 4.1 subwoofer ran even hotter than my v.2-400 sub. Like I said though, it did not get alarmingly hot as other had reported, so I didn't think it was a big deal... But now I've noticed my new sub runs even cooler than the v.2-400 sub does, so I'm curious if I had an overheating sub with the 4.1's, and if other's 4.1 subs run as cool as my new one does.
  2. I just got my replacement set of Klipsch 4.1's because I had problems with my first set. However, I didn't think that my set had a problem with heat. My first set did get rather warm, but not alarmingly so, just warm to the touch. My replacement set on the other hand runs EXTREMELY cool ... I've been playing the set for a few hours now at a reasonable level (nothing super loud), and the sub is actually cool! Just wondering what other people's subs feel like.. I'm thinking my original problem may have had something to do with the subwoofer overheating.
  3. Didn't you read my last post? ... Here's a quote from it incase you missed it: "Perhaps my perception of the problems is wrong though, since this forum is my only means to rate them, and more people WITH problems come here than people without problems." I already stated what you posted. And yes I realize high powered speakers will emit hiss, thats not the problem I'm referring to, the problem I'm having is a very strange "PSST" noise that only happens every 1/2 hour or so, it is very loud, and definitely not hissing, it sounds more like a quick pushing of air, like the speakers are popping or something to that effect... Others have described this problem as well, but Amy Platt did not think this was normal for the speakers. I am happy to report however, that Klipsch has been very good in trying to work out a solution with me, and I am getting my speakers repaired or replaced by them, I will post how everything goes, but I don't expect any problems.
  4. ABit is very iffy with their motherboards, some models are excellent, as you have said with the KT7A RAID, and some models aren't that good at all, like the ABit BE6 ... ABit also has a very high RMA rate, especially with their AMD motherboards lately. When the ABit motherboards work, they work great ... but a lot of the times they don't. Thats the analogy I was associating with the Klipsch 4.1's, they're great when they work ... but alot of people seem to be having problems with them. Perhaps my perception of the problems is wrong though, since this forum is my only means to rate them, and more people WITH problems come here than people without problems. However, at this point, I feel as though I bought a lemon pair of speakers, and at *MY* cost, I will have to ship them to Klipsch to fix a set of speakers that didn't work properly to begin with!
  5. Yeah I've been in touch with Amy about the random noise problem, its not really a loud noise, its just whenever the speakers are sitting idle and nothing is coming out of them, the speakers emit a "PSSSST" sound ... It gets louder if the volume is louder, and it happens even when nothing is plugged into the speakers, so I know it isn't the source I'm using. I described my problem in an earlier thread and others described similar problems, but not exactly the same as mine. The headphone problem was very strange, I did make sure the speakers were muted however, I tried both muted (first) and then unmuted... but there was no difference. The only reason I'm so concerned is because many people seem to be having problems. It seems as though there is a much higher problem rate with the 4.1's than there was with the v2-400's ...
  6. I've had my 4.1's for about a month, and now I've found another problem with my speakers. I tested the headphone jack for the first time today, and I noticed that I get NO sound out of the left channel. All 3 headphone sets that I tested worked fine with other sources (like a portable CD player), and I tried both sources on the speakers (the normal inputs, and the line-in on the Control Pod). Considering how much I spent on these speakers, I expected more quality, especially from Klipsch. Combine this with the random noises coming out of the speakers, and I feel like I've been ripped off... Klipsch is sounding more and more like the ABit of speakers!
  7. If your speakers are a year old, then they're probably the Klipsc v2-400, not the Klipsch 4.1's ... (the Klipsch 4.1's only came out a few months ago, correct me if I'm wrong) ... You should be able to tell if you have the v2-400 by seeing if your "Control Pod" has an ON/OFF switch, and a headphone jack / Line In. If it doesn't, then chances are its the v2-400 ... The v2-400's Control pod has crackling problems when you change the volume. I'm told its due to dust getting into the connection ... Some people have said continuous turning of the knob can help to resolve this, maybe you can also take some Air-In-A-Can (Dust-Off) and try to push the dust out of the Control pod ... The volume issue with the left being lower than the right is due to the pre-amp. Its just the way the pre-amp works, and usually should be resolve by increasing the volume to about 1/4 or more. Then lower the volume in your Volume Control on the computer to the mix that you like.
  8. Here's a link from 3DSoundSurge.com with a BIG picture of the Klipsch 5.1: Link
  9. Yes, this "PSST" problem you describe is exactly the problem I have. Except I have the problem when absolutely nothing is playing! I've noticed it gets louder as I make the volume on the pre-amp louder too. If I leave the speakers "ON" (so there's a green light), and I do not have anything playing, but the volume turned up maybe 1/4 of the way (roughly 10 o'clock or so) I can clearly hear this noise from across my room, with other noise in the room (like a TV on) ... Its very annoying, and I hope Klipsch has a solution on how to fix this! I called Amy from Klipsch but she has not returned my phone call yet.
  10. Well, my problem isn't related to changing the volume or MP3s with crackling in it ... The 4.1's don't crackle at all when changing the volume, and the random crackling I've been getting happens even when the speakers aren't hooked up to anything.. so I know it can't be a bad MP3 at that point .. After listening to the noise, its really not crackling ... it sounds more like the speaker is spitting a bit of air at me ... kindof like if you pucker your lips and push a bit of air out... Anyone have any ideas?
  11. If you're mounting the speakers in a corner you don't need wall mounts, you can just use the screw that normally would hold the "feet" of the satellite in place and hang the speaker upside-down. Here's a few quick pictures of what I've done: Picture 1 Picture 2 Picture 3 Picture 4 I hope these explain what I mean.
  12. I just got my Klipsch 4.1 speakers and they're great, I like the sound better than the v2-400's which I already own. I also like that the Pre-Amp doesn't crackle when you turn the volume control. However, I've noticed that every so often you hear the satellites crackle. Its not exactly a crackle, it sounds more like the satellites are spitting a small amount of air at me ... kindof like if you pucker up your lips and push air out between them. Does anyone else have this problem? I know it isn't because of my computer because I have tried this with the speakers disconnected from the computer and it still makes the noise. Its not constant, and it seems almost somewhat random as to when it happens. When the speakers are muted (via the "power" button), the "spitting" does not happen. Its not a huge deal to me, but I was curious if anyone else had this problem... If it is a common "problem" with the 4.1's thats fine, I was only concerned that there was a problem with my speakers.
