  1. the release date is july 15th. order at klipsch.com then
  2. hey, The 4.2s (as you prob. know) are just two Promedia 2.1 systems. this means that the price of 1 promedia 2.1 (about half of the 4.1s) times 2 equals about the price of the 4.1s. They may or may not sound as good as the 4.1s, because at 35watts/channel on the satts. and 130 watts/sub, they will not get as loud. However, they will still peel paint off the walls. I'd say to get the 4.1s if you were ever choosing between the two, because the 4.2s have two control pods (inconvenient!)
  3. Just for your information, Cambridge soundworks speakers suck... that is, their multimedia speakers. Their "top of the line" speakers (DTT3500) are way underpowered, and they dont even use tweeters. I hope you were just joking when you said that . But, like Amy said, just wait, because the 5.1s will definitely be worth the $400. -dan
  4. Hey man, where do u have your sub located? I put mine under my desk, and at one point had it in the corner of the room. I'll just say that the promedia sub is no good when in open spaces. If you already have your sub in one of those locations (under desk/in corner), then i would just try breaking it in like everyone else said. My desk is next to a sliding closet door, and i find that when the door is closed, the bass is incredible, but once i open it, the sub isnt as loud, but responds to lower frequencies. ODD... Just experiment though. Good luck, and enjoy the speakers. -dan
  5. Hey man, are you sure that you can even put a 12" woofer in a case designed for a 6.5"? I really think it wouldnt even fit inside the Promedia subwoofer. Even if it did, the crossover might be screwed up, and there would not be enough air space for the subs to work with. Hell, if you want to try it, go ahead. But the Promedia sub was made to work with 6.5" drivers, with 80 watts driving each. If you only have 80 watts driving a 12" sub, it may sound weak. Good luck -dan This message has been edited by fresca23 on 07-02-2001 at 10:41 AM
  6. thanks guys, everythings better now -dan
  7. Hey, well what i found is that putting a piece of cotton cloth in the tube lessens the "fluttering" sound, and also the rattling of the subs. Works for me, give it a try. Cant hurt! cya --dan
  8. make sure you uncheck "digital output only" under the advanced volume controls (taskbar, the little horn)
  9. thanks for the advice. but i mean sitting in the same place consistently, but the bass is either huge, or not there
  10. well, i think my promedia 4.1's kick ***! but, there are some times where i am ashamed to play them because the bass just isnt there. My sub is placed in the corner of the room, with plenty of ventilation. Its hooked to a Soundblaster Live! card. I have the speakers configured properly and the bass is at 85% on the soundcard, and all the way up on the Promedias. I know there is a limiter on the sub, but they are less than 1/4 of the way up, and the bass is really not present. My sub is warm, but not hot like many people have talked about. It seems like some days my ears bleed from the bass, but other days, i am just disappointed. For example, i play "Regulators" by Warren G on on day, and the monitor hops. Next day, im lucky if i even hear the "boom". Is there something i can do to make sound consistent? Is it the weather? what about placement? if anyone has suggestions on how to fix this annoyance, please post!! thank you!!
