  1. You are already infected with the disease and you don't even realize it. LOL Have fun with your new toys. The sub will really help bring your system to life. Thanks! I really appreciate all of your help over the past few months. My next step is to start looking into what goes into building a dedicated HT room so I'll be ready when I move next year...
  2. Hey guys, I finally finished my HT! My RS-62s and RB-61s came in yesterday and I started setting them up at 9ish and finished at 6 in the morning [:S] But I did end up taking down all o fmy 14 gauge and replacing it with about 250 feet of 12 gauge speaker wire. It also took me a while to take down my old speakers and speaker wire... But the hardest was finding places for the new monster surrounds! I was surprised by their size! But I ended up geting the surrounds mounted about 5 feet from the ground. I ended up buying speaker mounts because they were so cheap from monoprice (4 mounts that support 33 pound speakers for 27 bucks shipped) but found out that the RBs didn't have keyhole or mounts on the back... And they were the wrong size for RSs... Anyways here are some pics of my setup. The first three pictures show my HT progression. The smallest speakers are Koss which I bought when I was 12. The next size up are my onkyos which I bought when I was 18 - 19ish. Any obviously the biggest are my klipsch and I'm 22. *For some reason the pictures wouldn't post so I just made links... Here are my center speakers... I have come a long way from a 2 pound center to 60+ pound center [] Center Speaker Here are my front speakers... And here is my back surrounds.... Here are some random pics from the rest of my system: RS-62 Other RS-62 RB-61 My surround back speakers (and my retro gaming area) So now all I'm waiting for is my a5-350 from ED... When I ordered they said i would get it in 2 weeks and I talked to them a few days ago and they said they would ship in 2 weeks (i've been waiting 4 weeks so far...) But I think for the money, that sub can't be beat and it looks pretty nice. I really can't believe how awesome everything sounds. I've never really heard speakers that could outperform many subs I have heard. Adding the surrounds made a huge difference! Especially after i did the audyssey configuration. I ended up changing a few things but really gave me a good place to start in configuring the speakers. Overall, after my sub gets in I'll be pretty much done. The only thing I still want to do is get some RF-83s sometime. I'm going to keep watching CL for some good deals. If I end up getting the 83s then ill rb-61s with the my 82s [] Also thanks for everyones help over the months. I came to this site trying to decide if I should get a full 7.1 from polk for 1000 bucks (found pretty good sales on that speakers) or go for the klipsch that would cost me around 1500.... And then after being on the boards for a little, ended up buying a center channel for a grand [] and I dont really want to think about how much money I ended spending on it all...especially since I still have college loans to pay off[]
  3. I'm sure I will, I've been holding off watching a lot of movies because I wanted to wait till I finished the setup! Now all I need are the rf-83s...[]
  4. I'm looking into mounts for the RS-62s and RB-61s and was wondering if anyone has used or has any opinions on the mounts from monoprice? I'm just not really sure what the backs of either speaker looks like and the mounting available, but I want the mounts to arrive whenever the speakers do... Also if anyone has any suggestions for other speaker mounts, please let me know. I don't care to much on if the mounts look really good or not because they should be pretty well hidden from the speakers...
  5. Thanks for the info, but I already ended up buying them. I got each of the rs-62s for 349 a piece with shipping and no tax (also new with full warranty). So i'm pretty happy with the deal... I'm just glad to have everything ordered and hopefully everything will be in within a week or 2.
  6. Hey guys, sorry to resurrect my old thread, but I'm about to order the rest of my setup! I'm finishing everything up with rs-62s for the surrounds and rb-61s for the rears. I kept getting quotes from sites and they were anywhere from 1400 to 1600 for 2 rs-62s and the rb-61 pair. A few sites I've been checking already sold out of either the rs or the rbs. So i finally tried one last time and got a quote for 999 for all. I was close to buying the rs-62s on ebay for 700 + shipping a week ago but then they sold for a little more than that I think, and any local Rb-61s around my area were about 400... And hopefully in the next week or so I’ll be getting my a5-350 from ED... I was told i would receive it in 2 weeks nearly three weeks ago and now it’s hopefully shipping next week... But they seem like great people there with great subs for their price. So now all I can do is wait...
  7. The search for a perfect sub is a pain... I just ordered a elemental designs sub (a5-350) for 715 shipped. I'll get it in hopefully in a few weeks. I've only ever used their car audio so I'm taking a leap of faith, but I've really heard nothing negative about them. From what I've seen, svs subs look a lot nicer (and I'm sure have better sq), but they cost more... Anyways, on your budget i would look into a2-250 (350), a2-300 (415), or the a3-250 (450). All the prices include shipping. If mine comes in before you decide on a sub, I'll post some pics and let you know what I think of it. It took me two weeks of comparing every sub I could find... I barely got anything done at work or at home. There was a lot of stress lifted off of my shoulders when I finally clicked submit on my order [] Well good luck on your search for a sub and let me know what you end up going with.
  8. I got my 82s for a little under 900 new. I would definitely pick them up because I need some back surrounds [] and that would be cheaper than a pair of rb-81s new...
  9. haha I definately will! I can't wait to get it [] Ive only had HITB setups before... so moving to klipsch speakers and ED sub is a really huge improvement. And after I replace my surrounds ill have to pick up another a5-350 to complete the setup [H]
  10. Well I ended up ordering the A5-350 from ED. I was pretty set on the A7s-450 but had a few doubts. First is that there was some issues with the amps that came with the A7s-450 and they said they fixed them... But you never know... Another thing I read was the A7s-450 really needs the eq.2 to really go low and get good sound, which was another 100 bucks bringing the total to 950 compared to the 715 for the a5-350. The last big factor was they said they were out of amps and would be at least 30 days just to get the amps...plus building, so it would be between 1 to 2 months till it shipped, compared to less than 2 weeks to deliver (hopefully)... I was also a little concerned buying a sealed compared to a ported box. I will use it for the HT probably 99 percent of the time. I read that A7s-450 does great for movies though... but in the long run, the 2 month waiting period and the extra nearly 250 dollars brought me to ordering the a5-350. Anyway i just like how ported subs look...sealed just looks to simple [] Well thanks guys for getting me away from the evil supercube 1. I don't have that gut feeling that I am wasting money on the ED like I did when I was thinking about the supercube!
  11. Well I ended up getting the A5-350. It's on sale for 85 dollars cheaper and I read a lot abou the A7S-450 needs the eq.2 to really sound good (which costs another 100). The I got the A5-350 for 715 compared to 950 it would have cost for the A7s-450. Another big deciding factor was they were out of amps so it would take 30 plus days to get the amps plus build and so one. It would take up to 2 months to get the A7s-450 instead of 2 weeks or less for the a5-350...
  12. Hey thanks for your reply! Any specific ED subs you recommend? I was looking at the A5 - 350 or the A7S - 450. Overall, what I want from my sub is one that will compliment movies extremely well. Any idea of the subs listed above would work great for that? and for movies do you recommend a ported or sealed? I currently have a 1900 cubic foot room... And one last question, any idea how 2 A5-350s sound compared to a single svs pb13-ultra? Because it would be a lot easier for me to buy onea5-350 this year and another next year instead of spending 1700 dollars all at once. Sorry for all the questions but I heard you are a guru of subs [] so any ideas/help you can offer would greatly be appreciated!
  13. Thanks saurabhiitd for all your help. Does the 6ave name your own price happen at any specific time? Or is it more or less when they feel like running it? I agree with you, any "pro reviewers" say the supercube 1 is amazing but ive heard mixed from everyone else... I've been going back and forth so much on getting it, I'm thinking I should just wait... Some of my choices that I've looked into are (and I really don't care about size, I would rather make room then get a smaller sub just to fit) svs PB12 for 1149 svs pb12 nsd 599 ED a7s450 850 ED a5-350 715 Velodyne DEQ-15R for 850 (probably can get it for 750ish new) I would really like the pb13-ultra for 1699... but I really can't justify that much money on it... If I could get a used one closer to a thousand I could work something out lol
  14. Thanks guys for your words of encouragement! I'll let you know how it sounds when I end up getting it!
  15. Thanks guys for all your help. I'm thinking of getting the supercube 1 though... Ive looked around other 500 dollar subs, and really can't find anything that people said would be better (in the price range I could buy it for). My room is less than 2000 cubic feet also, and I've read that for a room the size of mine it would be overkill. But my overall plan is once I buy this sub, I'll work on the rest of my setup (rs-62s with rb-81/61s) and then when I buy my house next year, I'll pick a sub out that matches my dedicated home theater room and use the supercube with my old 7.1 in the living room. The guy has the box, with everything else that came with it. He will also let me audition it, which surprisingly not very common with the people on CL around my area... Anyways I'm hoping it will be pretty good for the price. Like I said ive looked for speakers listed around 500 and really didn't find anything that would beat it. Ive seen a people selling them for 750 + shipping on Audiogon and seen a few sold around that price... and the sale i'm looking at also includes a 25 foot monster cable, which we all know increase the SQ by at least 50 times [] because for some reason writing monster on any cable makes it alot better. Another thing I have noticed is I now can hear how crappy my mp3s and mkvs sound [] Now i have to start replacing my mp3s with flac and mkvs with higher audio bitrate []
