  1. I am upgrading my system with a Denon 3311 125 w receiver and want to get an emotiva xpa amp. Is it necessary to have 200 watts for the rear and surround speakers and is just powering the front with the 200 watts going to be enough. I plan on adding reference floor speakers in the rear someday? my speakers are RF82, RC62, RS52 and RW 12D.
  2. I was at the swap meet today and this guy has speakers all the time. He told me about the 5's and said he'd bring them next week. If he has them I'll grab them, but you never know if he'll have them. He had a pair of SF-1 speakers today for $50 and sold them right after I walked away. That guy said he'd come back for the 5's, but I know this guy and I think he'll give them to me if I'm there first. Hope he shows up with them.
  3. I may have the opportunity next week to buy a pair of Rf5's, I could then move my RF82's to the rear speakers. Is this a good Idea I recently got a denon 3311 receiver and am going to purchase an emotive 3 channel amp. will I see much difference by replacing the rf 82's in front with the 5's or should I wait for a used pair of 7's which was my original plan. The 5's are only going to cost $150.
  4. Thanks for the help I'm going to get the XPA-3 it's only $529 on their site right now. I'll deal with the 7's later. thanks for your help.
  5. It's hard to argue with your advice. My only hesitation with the 7's is their size and then I would need to upgrade the center to the RC64. I'm more interested in higher quality at a lower volume. As it is the 82's are plenty loud. will the XPA-3 give a good bump at lower sound level? Then later I can go for the 7's if I'm not satisfied. Thanks
  6. I'm also researching the imotiva XPA-3 amplifier to run the front and center speakers. Building a system as I am learning can be complicated and seems to be an incrimental process. What do you think about getting a imotiva XPA-3, would this give a better boost to the system instead of buying the 2 extra speakers or would the two speakers be a better choice. If I did that and then latter I could decide on R7's or the surround speakers. what do you guys think. It is hard to imagine the results with my limited experience in stereo equipment. I do know that with every upgrade I immediately start looking for ways to make the system better. I have the money to buy any of the items mentioned but I suppose I have caught the upgrade bug. Thanks for the input.
  7. The main thing I have to consider is the back wall is about 3 feet from the back of my couch and it's about 36 inches tall. I don't know how that will affect the sound the room is 20 by 20 and the stereo and tv are in the corner facing an L shaped couch. Just something to consider. Towers or bookshelf on a stand?
  8. Sorry I meant moving the RF82's to the rear and using the rf 7's as fronts. I don't think thats a great option for me due to their size. What about another RF speaker in the rear like the 82/62/52 instead fo the bookshelf speaker?
  9. I have a new system with RF82, RC62, RS52, RW 12d sub and a Denon 3311 ci receiver. I'm thinking of upgrading to 7.1 and am wondering what 2 speakers would be best to add? I thought my options might be 2 more RS52's or RF 62/52 or possibly if I wanted to piss my wife off a pair of R7's.
  10. I am also thinking of buying the onkyo tx nr808 to replace my denon 1804 90 watt receiver. I was told it was a warmer sounding reciever to pair with Klipsch rf 82 speakers. If you bought the onkyo how does it sound?
  11. How did the discontinued RF 82's compare to the new II models you heard in the store? I have the RF 82's and was curious if they were a big improvment.
  12. Did you get the discontinued RF 82, RC62 & RS 52's. How did these speakers compare to the new II series speakers? I bought the same set of speakers with a rw 12d sub this summer and paired it with my denon 1804 90 watt reciever about 7 years old and it sounded great. I am looking at buying the Onkyo tx nr 808 receiver. Did you get this receiver? A yamo representative recommended onkyo over denon for our speakers. He said it had a warmer sound and went well with the rf 82's. I hope you're having as great a time with the new speakers as I am.
  13. I bought these from an on line dealer and He told me that Klipsch came out with the line sooner than expected and he didn't decieve me by telling me the new speakers would cost more and he was giving me a "wholesale" deal due to the close out status. I told him I was in no hurry and he convinced me to purchase or lose the discount. I called him Yesterday and asked for a quote on the speakers and he was 20$ more. He was unappologetic and didn't offer any chance of me getting the New RF 82II in lieu of the RF 82's I bought a couple of weeks earlier at his insistence the new line was going to be so much more expensive. When I spoke to him yesterday and I identified who I was he put all blaime for his sales pitch on Klipsch. I really like the speakers I have, however I don't like the idea of being decieved. I would have waited for the RF 82's. I am going to call the Klipsch representative I spoke to before I made my purchase and see what he has to say. Perhaps the dealer was being honest. However if you go back on this site it is apparant that Klipsch online sales are always deeply discounted. I doubt anything will be done as the online retailer would want the shipping for the set of speakers which was $200 each way plus a 15% restock fee, another $250.
  14. I called Klipsch tech suppport and the technician told me I probably wouldn't notice much difference in the sound of the new line. The grill and feet are supposed to look nicer. The on line authorized retailer insisted he was giving me a deep discount for the discontinued reference speakers, However when I checked his pricing for the new line 2 weeks later it was only 20$ more. So I love the speakers and I'm going to enjoy them. The dealer did give me a great deal. I can't believe you can get such quality for a great price.
  15. I recently purchased a set of rf 82, rc62, rs52 and rw 12d speakers. I noticed on the Klipsch site that they no longer sell these and have a new line. Does anyone know whether it is a significant change or are they about the same as the speakers I bought 4 weeks ago. I read the description on the web site and it sounded like new drivers, crossover and logos.
  16. Im new to Klipsch speakers but I just got a set of rf82,RC62,RS52 & rw 12d and the RC62 sound great. I can really hear ll of the vocals on the television. The whole system just gets better each time I listen to it.
  17. So then I basically have a nice system and the receiver upgrade won't matter that much. I don't know much about hooking up a reciever and a preamp. I remember back in the 70's my friends used to have tube amps and preamps with an additional reciever all hook together. They sounded incredible, however I remember they were high end and expensive. Do you have any suggestions for this kind of set up and how much it might cost? My previous speakers were a set of Cerwin Vega top ot the line in 1982. My friends father owned the company and I picked up a pair for cost. 200watts, 120 pounds with a 25 pound magnet on the woofer. They were incredible but that was pre hearing aids. I used to turn it up pretty loud. I must say the system I have now does sound great. thanks for the help. Is bi amping an option on a newer receiver with the same wattage I have now?
  18. I recently purchased a new set of speakers as listed above. I have a Denon 1804 90 watt receiver and am wondering if I need to upgrade to an Onkyo tx 808, 135 watt receiver to improve the sound. The Denon seems to play loud and clear. What I sometime see is a lack of fullness, more hi and low sound from them. I know the Klipsch are known for the horns and they make incredible hi sounds. I wonder if it is just my hearing as I wear expensive hearing aids and so tend to hear the highs with the hearing aids in. I know the 2 8" speakers put out great base coupled with the sub which is set at 80 on the crossover. Can any one tell me if it is normal to miss the mid range sound with the lower wattage receiver and If the higher wattage receiver will bring a smoother sound. I want to also say when I play movies the sound is incredible . The only time I wonder about the midrange is listening to music when I turn it up loud. Any suggestions.
