  1. Perhaps the pause is due to them needing to suck air back into the box as they return? Normally the passive would never move alone. It would always be moving in relation to the woofer which does not happen when you push on the passive alone.
  2. I like the white lightening cables http://www.6moons.com/audioreviews/whitelightning/moonshine.html. I just twist the black and white together for ground and use the green for positive. I don't get fancy with shring tubing and banana plugs. The original manual on the back of the Advents recommended using lamp cord.
  3. Not sure on Pandora but I do listen to it a lot along with MOG. I think Pandora does a better job of creating a radio station based on an artist. MOG will create an artist station but it is all that artist instead of being other similar things that I might like. I've discovered and rediscovered lots of great music on Pandora. Which I then download on MOG. MOG has an amazing amount of small and up and coming still somewhat obscure groups. It's nice to see the lineups coming to my local venues and be able to check out their albums on MOG to see if I want to attend a show. I would not buy 10 cd's a month to check them out so I would miss out on some great shows.
  4. I love MOG.I've been using it since November 2011. I run it on my Mac and on my Gen 4 iPod touch (downloads at 320k). I am often stunned at the depth of the catalogue.
  5. No work needed on them. I will upgrade the crossovers and try the titanium diaphragms someday when I get the itch to change something in the system. They amount of sonic information they provide took a while to get used to coming from a more relaxed speaker. Like anything it took some adjustment on my part. A big part of that was to stop listening critically all the time for every last lip sound from the singer and just enjoy the music.
  6. You have to buy one. You're in McIntosh country with both McIntosh headquarters and Audio Classics less than an hour away.[]
  7. I have a water ring on top of one of my Chorus I's where a previous owner used it as a plant stand. Since they are in my den I don't worry about it and I put some knick-knacks on it. One of these day's I'm going to the local stone place and getting a couple of pieces of granite cut for the tops (they have left over pieces from countertops). I'll put some thin felt under them it and they will look sharp. Plus I can tell "audiophiles" that the weight of the stone helps cut down on cabinet resonance and sweetens the inner detail in the upper octaves and tightens up the bass. : ) I might even get a couple of larger matching slabs cut to set them on. The cheapest solution is a couple of doilies or decorative end table mats if doilies aren't your style.
  8. When I first brough home my Chorus I's I had never listened to Klipsch before. I bought them because my Dad who lives out of state bought Forte II's and raved about them. I had to try horns. The Chorus I's were so revealing that it took me a while before I could listen to them for more than an hour. I would get a sonic hangover. I was running them with an Anthem Integrated 1 tube amp. The mids and highs were sweet but there was TMI. It was like when I first got a big screen TV and would get a headache for the first few weeks from watching it. I had to adjust. Now I can listen to them all day and bask in the glorious sound. I have also fine tuned their placement in the room to a 1/4 inch. It took a few weeks but it was worth the effort.
  9. I like Papa was a Rolling Stone by The Temptations. It's well recorded and has that huge Motown sount. It's a complete test since it has a lot going on across all frequency ranges, it provides a mix from single singer to chorus, and it's a very dynamic track. It also has: - a killer bass line that is tight and deep. -horns, which really show off the ability of the system to make it sound like the instrument is in the room. -cool funky wah-wah guitar, which is always fun -great vocals with harmonies. If there is a weakness in your system this will reveal it. A Living Prayer - Alison Krauss. Her vocal performance on this stripped down track is stunning and well recorded. On a good system it will almost bring a tear to your eye.
  10. Then you haven't tried it. The depth and breadth of the catalogue included in the monthly fee is impressive. I has everything from Megadeth to Gene Kruppa to Shel Silverstein to old radio shows.
  11. Thanks for the comparison info!
  12. I've got millions of songs. I subscribed to the MicroSoft Zune store. It's about $14 a month and you get unlimited streaming and downloads. So long as your license key is current anything you download will play. If you cancel for a while all the songs you downloaded stay on your machine and you can reactivate at any time. You also get to pick 10 songs per month to keep permanently so a key is no longer required to play them. I don't have a Zune player. I just like access to the huge library of music. It's amazing what they have and for less than the price of a single CD each month I'm happy with the price point. The Zune desktop software is not the best but it's decent. It took me a couple of hours to get really comfortable with it. I was ready to uninstall it during the first 15 minutes but I stuck it out and once I got used to it I kind of like it. They offer a free two week trial so you can check it out. The drm encrypted songs are at 192kbps with 2 pass cbr. The drm free mp3s are 2pass cbr at 320 kbps. I highly recommend taking the two week trial, just be prepared to spend a few hours learning the software.
  13. Welcome to the Klipsch club! Interesting that you prefer the Chorus II to the Druids. I was all set to order a pair of the Zu Omens during the intro sale when I scored a pair of Chorus I's. They just keep growing on me. I've never had a chance to listen to any of the Zu speakers. What is the difference between the sound of the Druids and the Chorus II's?
