  1. http://www.klipsch.com/products/productdetail.asp?id=388&line= Try that one and see if it works better. How'd you break the receiver? ------------------ Real life is just another window on my desktop! -The Shadow
  2. I am not offering but couldn't you have someone in the US buy the speakers and ship them to you, yeah I know you need a power converter but those are cheap. At least they are here. I don't see why that wouldn't work, although it's probably illegal because of trade laws but so. I am sure you have some people over here that you can trust. Anyway you could probably come over on airlines and buy and ship the speakers back for less then 1k but then I am not sure what the US to AUS conversion is. I don't thinks its that bad though. That's pretty much all the advice I have for you. Oh, one more thing if you are going to get altec's get the 800 series. Very good sound. Not on par with Klipsch, but not much is, then again you can get ACS885's 5.1 with remote for less then 300 US. Good luck man. HEY KLIPSCH PEOPLE. What is up with that. Why is it so expensive over there. Are you getting F'ed by your dealer or is it a tarif thing. ------------------ Real life is just another window on my desktop! -The Shadow
  3. Hey Dwk If you really want a midrange go out and get one. It's not that spendy for a small amp/receiver and a decent mid/low or mid/high speaker set, use them in conjunction with the pro media system. Thats what I did and it broke the glass in my room. Of course thats cause my idea of good mid/low's was http://www.klipsch.com/index.asp?path=/products/homeaudio/index.asp?frame=y&id=&line=&1 so I guess thats kind of cheating right. oh well money to burn. ------------------ Real life is just another window on my desktop! -The Shadow
  4. I just wanted to say that I think you have got the right idea. Other people when they have problems just freak out and give up and complain. I like the way you handled it. Thats all I wanted to say. ------------------ Real life is just another window on my desktop! -The Shadow
  5. I have to agree with Seb, it all depends on the use. If you aren't watching movies the center is basically worthless, not used for games or music. Or at least it shouldn't be. Hey Seb, I love the tag line. Cause no one ever said pump up the treble It litteraly made me laugh out loud. -later ------------------ Real life is just another window on my desktop! -The Shadow
  6. Well that depends very much on the preamp and amp setup you are using. The best ones allow for amped speakers. In other words you could use the promed's as an HT system but check out the SF-2's on the main page. Why would you use PC speakers for an HT. Unless you just want a small HT. I guess that would be workable. But then just use your computer with TV/out and S/video and a SBLP 5.1 and your Klipsch speakers. Ala, insta HT for under 1500 bucks. Think about it if you are trying to put together a component system. ------------------ Real life is just another window on my desktop! -The Shadow
  7. It probably wont fix that scratch sound as that is caused by the relativly bad plugs and cable used on the 2.1,and 4.1 systems. You can upgrade the plugs and cable but it will void the warranty. so I don't suggest it. -good luck ------------------ Real life is just another window on my desktop! -The Shadow
  8. Ugh, you have a DELL. Next time you are looking to upgrade check out GStechnical.com. I used to work for Dell as a tech. You have probably called and spoken with me or one of the owners of GStech, they all worked for dell at one point or another. Anyway, as far as the sub, it looks good, might try painting the board, but I don't see how it would affect sound other then provideing a direct link from the sub to the baseboards in the floor. Since the sub isn't a downfire it has minimal effect. But pretty good idea if you ask me. Hey what model Audi is that. I have a BMW M3 330 csi X4 50/50, euro model, wanna race? ------------------ Real life is just another window on my desktop! -The Shadow
  9. I can't say that I know everything that is going on at Klipsch but I use several of there lines of speakers in my business (makeing HIGH performance entertainment systems, and Computers). I have never had a problem getting replacements when speakers fail. Lets be honest here, it happens. Yeah you might have to pay S/H charges but so what? You have already payed for the best PC speakers on the market don't get cheap now! Anyway, to the people at Klipsch, keep up the great work. And to those of you out there that just want to ***** (can I say that here??) SHUT UP. Write some e-mail and be patient. ------------------ Real life is just another window on my desktop! -The Shadow
  10. Ok, so you have a good start on an "entertainment" system. I would suggest the SBL platnium over the AE phillips. Other than that you have a great setup and should have no (as in zero) problems with conflicts. Couple of thoughts, one, Don't use power DVD with the ATI radeon. It's a waste. The ATI card has HARDWARE decoding, last time I checked power DVD doesn't use it at all. Use either ATI's player or any other HARDWARE decoding player. As for adding a seperate preamp, it's totally frivalis(spelling). If you look around on the net you can find a few companies that have DTS,DSS,dolby prologic, and Dolby digital software, it works with the SB Plat, I don't remeber the site I found it on but you should be able to find it easily. PS- I know what I am talking about, I run a business that builds custom computer and home entertainment systems. If you haven't already baught the parts e-mail me and I will send you some prices. Good luck in school. PPS- I use only Klipsch Speakers. ALLWAYS and FOREVER ------------------ Real life is just another window on my desktop! -The Shadow
