  1. The rear surrounds with Atmos to match the front, these are CF-3's.
  2. It is on it's side, horn centered with the screen - resting on some sound isolation pads.
  3. I currently use a version 2 CF-3 for center duty - which is an improvement in tonal balance with the CF-4 version 1 speakers. It seems like the CF-4 version 1 speakers keep getting harder to find. I would love to find another pair of Cherry CF-4 version 1's too - but they simply don't come available. Be nice if Klipsch would make a limited production run on them.
  4. Time to sell my KV-4 - it is in good working order - there are a couple of small nicks on the back corners of the cabinet and the front grill has a small crack in it and a small discolored spot. Looks good - but it is not in mint condition. Really would prefer local pick-up. Thanks!
  5. Just posted one in Seattle if someone in the area is looking. Would prefer local pickup. http://seattle.craigslist.org/est/ele/6309208683.html
  6. If you buy the set let me know - I might be interested in one as my center channel.
  7. What color is the CF-4 that you are willing to split up?
  8. Did you all see the walnut CF-4 version 1 speakers for sale in Detroit?
  9. Harder to sell Klipsch speakers on craigslist - I appreciate everyone posting those ads on here - helped me pick up my cherry CF-4 version 1's last year. If these were Cherry - they would be on a truck headed to my house. $1K for CF-4 version 1 speakers in this condition - very reasonable.
  10. It took me about 10 years to find my set - I had wanted Cherry. You might consider setting an asking price - you might get someone to move. I had to pay shipping, $500 and I didn't blink at the asking price of my speakers, $1500. These are rare and tough to find - I wish you the best of luck.
  11. I have a pair of Cherry Epic CF-2 speakers for sale - here is the current link. I am the original owner of the speakers - they were used as surrounds so they have never really been used. https://seattle.craigslist.org/est/ele/6040036897.html
  12. I am the original owner of a pair of CF-2 cherry speakers - thinking about selling them. I live in Seattle so shipping would be pricey. Which color and version were you looking for?
  13. Replying to the question of location and sound transmission. I have the 2nd generation of the CF'2s and 3's, first generation of the CF-4. If I move my speakers away from the rear and side walls - I notice a change in the richness of the sound - and it reduces a faint echo. The most noticeable difference occurs with speaker height - getting them off the ground. The port(s) near the bottom of the speaker are simply too close to the ground and believe it or not, in my opinion make a sound quality difference when the speaker is raised. I believe there is more than air flow that occurs with the ports in the Epic line - and an additional benefit is raising the horn to ear height - or closer to it. I have had custom speaker box platforms made at car toys - wrapped in sound deadening (inside) and covered with carpet - outside. They will make the boxes to your specifications and they act as an isolation platform. Best money I have ever spent. My recommendation is to move your speakers around a little and see if you can hear a difference. Getting them off the floor is a no-brainer in my opinion....plus that protects them when the vacuum gets close.... The room they are in has bass traps, sound resonance padding and fully carpeted. I am fortunate to have a dedicated space to play around in. Even small changes like bass traps in the corners of your room can make an audible difference. In my opinion all these factors can help regardless of which generation of the Epic line you own.
  14. I thought the same thing - since I moved the speakers around I have two CF-2's that ar no longer used in my system. Currently I use a KV-4 center and KSP-S6 surrounds. I am not sure how a horn turned sideways would impact the center channel - have you ever tried it? I think the CF-2 and the KV-4 use the same size horn.
  15. Good call on sharing a few of the differences - I might start a thread and share a few thoughts. Here are the CF-4's, 3 and 2 side by side. The 4 is sitting on a 2" isolation lift.
  16. Not that this thread is alive any longer...but...I have learned a few things about the Epic line over the past 21 years of having owned them. If you still have them get them off the ground - at least 8" or more for a CF-2. If you can get them out of a corner that helps as well. There are so many other things that impact sound that it might not be the speaker but where it is located.
  17. Which Receiver will you be using to power Atmos? After Onkyo purchased Pioneer I think they have the edge for the 3100 or 3030 receivers. You can pick up a 3030 for about $1500 and it has multiple DAC's built in if you want to bypass all things digital and hear two channel for music. I know someone else might feel different but it is a great receiver that can produce some amazing sound - simple or complex. The system you mention is a 7.1.2 configuration - why not go for the 7.1.4 version instead? I use 7.1.4 and think it is great for movies - the receiver has enough certifications to make your head spin - it will light your speakers up however you want them. I would strongly encourage 7.1.4 - you'll regret it if you go with 7.1.2 - why not have full height effect? One last consideration is your sub. I have never had a ton of luck with Klipsch subwoofers - if you can stretch for a Velodyne subwoofer it would be money well invested. Audioholics recently reviewed subwoofers and has some clear recommendations based on room size. Given you have 4600 cubic feet - you'll need some power. Good luck on your system build - share a photo or two when you get it up and running!
  18. Here is the original CF-3 and the new to the family CF-4.
  19. Well I kept pulling up Craigslist for Washington DC - and found a new ad with the CF-4's - emailed the gentleman and got a response. For CF-4's in cherry, version 1 with the original boxes the price was more than fair at $1500 - these speakers are so rare that is once in a lifetime event. Never negotiated - never questioned the price - and I hope I help set the value bar for what Epic speakers should sell for. They are the most unique of the Klipsch speakers - people should value them as such. If anyone else ever wants to ship large speakers we went through YRC freight. The speakers were placed in their original box and those into Uhaul wardrobe boxes - fit like a glove. They then wrapped the boxes with clear shipping wrap and we palletized them standing up - with a no stacking requirement. Boxes made it from DC to Seattle in a week - not a scratch. It was like opening up a Christmas gift when your 4 years old....mint condition cherry CF-4's - version 1. My CF-3's will now move to surround duty - going to be great for the movies. Thank-you for those who keep an eye out for these and post them - that made the difference for me - I really appreciate it!
  20. Thanks for asking Dave - here is the back story: In 1994 I went into a local Hi-Fi store called Magnolia Hi-Fi - a dream store for a kid in college. I had two jobs - one to put myself through college and another to save up for a Hi-Fi system. By the time I had enough money to buy my dream speakers over two years had passed - it was fall of 1996. The Epic line speakers were being replaced - and all I could get my hands on were a pair of CF-3 and a pair of CF-2's.. At the time I didn't know about the various versions - I simply thought they were the same. So I still use my original speakers - in fact I have joked with my wife that they'll have to build my casket from the wood from the speakers. They are all cherry - nearly perfect - and a part of a dream I had starting 22 years ago. Once I learned about the various versions I have tried to find a pair of series one CF-4's in cherry. I would love to have them as my main's and to have my CF-3's pick up the rear. I currently use them in an Atmos 11.1 configuration. So for me it it really isn't about the money - it's about finding the right speakers to close the loop on something I started a couple of decades ago. Hope you and your family enjoy the Holidays!
  21. I have been looking for a perfect pair of Epic CF-4 cherry speakers for years - I cannot seem to ever find someone with them. I emailed the person in VA and offered more than the asking price - no response. If someone knows or has a pair of Cherry CF-4 version 1 speakers and needs a buyer - I would pay top dollar for them. So frustrating to find these to only have the seller be non-responsive.
  22. Thanks for the response - but keep me in mind if you decide to sell them - I'll pay more than the market rate for a set. Have a great Thanksgiving!
  23. Tim - if you decide the KSP-S6 isn't producing the sound for rears or fronts (height) - and want to sell them to purchase a direct speaker - I would be interested in buying them if they are black. I would certainly try a pair of height speakers before you spend a ton of money on a set - if the KSP-S6 doesn't produce the sound you are looking for. I've had a couple of Yamaha receivers and tried the front height speakers - but strongly preferred 5.1 or 7.1 without the DSP mode for height. Best of luck!
