  1. But your woofers didn't have open voice coils, Right? The woofers work, you have a new X-over board, your narrowing it down to just the amp circuit now. You may want to see if that amplifier circuit in that subwoofer has any power going to it, or outputting power.
  2. Clean Power! Aborted and Torn. This message has been edited by mike stehr on 02-01-2002 at 03:51 PM
  3. Another reason might be the $1970 Price. It's 190 lbs, and goes down to 35Hz. Which might not be low enough for most (HOME) theatre applications. If your shootin' for 15,20Hz. You could use a active crossover, as long as the center frequency isn't below 35Hz. I don't know about home theater, but it would seem like a great sub for music. 105Db sensitivity, you will know they are there.
  4. I'm pretty sure I seen Ted Nugent once. Hell, I can't even remember. (I kinda remember someone flinging around on a rope in a loincloth, and that infamous thing he did with the D string on his Byrdland.) It was that way with a lot of bands, Is was that damn Sedation problem, ya know?
  5. I have no idea. But I think the varying metals affect corrosion. I used to work with this T6 stuff on sheetmetal presses. The stuff was hard as a rock, I'm not sure about oxidation factor, but it hardly oxidized. The scrap paid well too. Oh yeah, R-7's or Cornwalls? THANX!
  6. Daryl, Do they actually have Emission testing where your at? Or they just have Vehicle Inspections?
  7. If you don't get any taker's here and willing to wait a few months or so, I'd be interested in that Carver. THANX~!
  8. I have Black Chorus II's, Doug's right man. I don't understand a Forte having more bass with a 12 inch driver, than a Chorus with a 15 inch driver. I can see the Forte being more Punchy and less colored than a Chorus. I never heard Fortes, so I can't make judgements. The chorus's will play anything you give them, from heavy to light, and they will also let you know if the source recording is bad or not, trust me. With little power. I have two SVS 16/46's but no amp, isn't that weak. Hopefully by May. Mike Lindsey should have some comments as well. Thanx!
  9. Gee Ray, You pretty much fried what's left of my brain with that post. Now is this particular interface similar to what's used for DSL cable modems LAN or whatever? I can kind of understand what your saying by higher speed and better data transportation without buffering. But does the cable consist of wire? What materials are used in this interface? Nice post! (Hell, I thought maybe going to Belden interconnects would be a upgrade.) THANX!
  10. I think it depends on the amount of steel/tin in the Aluminum itself on the effects of Corrosion. Aluminum that is more soft with less tin/steel, corrodes pretty quick. But I think it will dissipate heat from itself quicker. (Maybe this might play a factor in Anodization.) Probably for looks and corrosion. I worked at a Aluminum Foundry, all I know is it's a nasty dirty metal.
  11. I can agree with that. American cars have sucked since goverment emission restrictions.
  12. I like the old stuff! (I'm 37.) Well, this is how you edit posts! Learn something everyday. This message has been edited by mike stehr on 01-31-2002 at 06:32 PM
  13. its flat to like 20HZ and SVS says it can go doiwn to 10HZ (WOW).16Hz. Get two, they're small.
  14. I've read a lot about the Marantz's being nasty sounding out of the box. Then sound great after a few days or whatever. You could use the SACD player on redbook's for awhile, and maybe see if normal cd's start sounding better. And if it doesn't, you still have the best of both worlds! The Marantz 6000 has many articles on the net on how to tweak it. It almost lends itself to it. I know of one guy who has tweaked a Sony SACD player already, right after he bought it, the nut. THANX!

  16. That sounds like a Blast! Too bad I'm exiled in Washington.
  17. Did the manufacturer recommend the 400 hour burn in time? This Burn-in thing is kinda like wire. From what I have noticed from the few CD/DVD players I have had, is that they seem to sound better after a couple days, maybe a week, sometimes an hour. Seems like it should be ' burned-in' already. You can leave it on or off, whatever your preference. But like Colin said, once the circuits are warmed up to thier parameters, it's more or 'less broke-in'. I think the idea behind leaving components on, is to make the unit last longer by avioding turn-on turn-off cycles and warmup. But I have noticed Break-in with Digital source units, just not that long. I could see it with speakers, or some exotic electrolytics like Rubycon Black gates, or some of the expensive film and foils. If the unit is full of high quality components like mentioned, I could possibly see a 400 hour break-in. Is this SACD player a real high quality unit? This break-in subject can get like a heated wire thread. THANX!

    Here's a pretty one. http://www.sunflowernsa.com/index.html
  19. I had a Hot Rod magazine once with '68 HEMI Dart in one of the articles. Chrysler's version of a Ford Thunderbolt. Dual quad 426,(425 horse?) only in Primer gray, fiberglass bumper, fenders, hood,(I think) one seat, and straps for window cranks. Not to mention all other weight reduction. You gotta admit, this wasn't your average doorslammer. I don't think very many were produced, I don't recall. Double digits, triple digits? I think they are some of Chrysler's rarest of the rare. Have you even seen one? Hard to Imagine, buying a car like this, off a showroom floor, liscense it, and drive it on the street? Wild! Poor Cops, Look what they had, LOL! I'm sure the Dealers for these cars at the time had to question a driver's ability. Like, 'You do realize this more or less a race car?' Or, 'Uh, this isn't exactly Grandma's Belvedere'. Like you said, HEMI's have Dominated NHRA for 35 years, even Today's top Nitroburners are using engines with the same HEMI design principal. I'm glad I can at least weasel in the drags once a year to get a good dose of Nitromethane. Where's that 5000 horse Honda at? Oh yeah, 'Fast and the Furious' maybe I'll rent it some day.
  20. Mike! I'll get a Email to send you on the Chorus II crossovers, ASAP. Could be a day or two, to give me time to draft up some drawings. Don't worry, I like to draw, so that's no big deal. THANX!
  21. Tom. Dig through the archives at the AA boards. Tweaker asylum would be a good place to start. Type in some keywords relating to the problems you have. You could also post questions on the boards, but I think you will get better help by browsing through the Archives. It could give you some options on troubleshoooting. THANX!
  22. Your not the only person with Dyslexic keystrokes. I probably spelled that wrong. I like the little vomiting smilies. I think you are only allowed eight. THANX!
  23. A must have Classic. I seen the Demon face three times, I thought it was in the movie only once.
  24. Just what do you mean by firewire, Boa? Digital out to the receiver? I remember Meridan using all digital cable from the CD player, to Active speakers. This was over ten years ago. Are you talking about the fiber optic interface? Curious. THANX!
