  1. Yo, I have had some similar problems with WinDVD. I have the Philips Acoustic edge, but they may relate. You may actually have to enable the SP/DIF output in your general Multimedia settings (Maybe in the Santa Cruz settings for you). I did that with mine and I went from 2 channel to 5.1 just fine. Then there probably are several other settings you have to click on as 4 or 5 or 6 channel. (4.1 in your case might be seen by the computer as 5 channel, I dunno). Then, I don't know if this matters or not, try going into settings, control panel, multimedia and then click advanced properties for your preferred device (the Santa Cruz I guess.) Then set your windows speaker orientation as quadrophonic (I have 5.1 so I use surround, for example.) Hope that helps. I struggled with the same thing and now I have 5.1 so there is hope.
  2. Still a little fuzzy on the CP-1 upgrade... Is this CP-1 head unit what is responsible for the improved sound (midrange I think) from the v2-400's to the 4.1's? Or is there actually a slight difference in the sattelites from the V2-400's to the 4.1's? In other words, I don't really care about the mute and CD input in the CP-1, I just want better quality sound. Is it worth 50 bucks? I watch movies and listen to music, thanks.
  3. Hey, About that 6.2 setup.... I can see using a sub for the center channel and the front right and left, but does it really make much difference using 2.1's for the rear so that there can be a sub ONLY for the 2 surround sound channels? IS IT WORTH IT?
  4. What is the advantage of having a hardware DD decoder when (I read the PowerDVD documentation today) the software does it? I plan on playing my movies with an Athlon 1.2 that's totally decked out, so I can afford a little bit of processing power to decode Dolby Digital. By the way, if PowerDVD now does DD, does that mean software can decode DTS? That's my dream and since there's no way I am going to replace my v2-400's I have to be creative.
  5. I would spend money to upgrade to a 5.1 (or I guess 5.2) system from my v2-400 as long as I didn't have to trash my current sub (the thought of having 2 subs makes my mouth water). Please Klipsch, do it!!!
  6. Hey all, Newbie here. Love the v-2400 sound, I want DTS without buying new speakers. I have found an external DTS decoder made by Jazz Speakers... Obscure company... but by buying a center channel it may be possible to run 5.1 using the original four sattelites and sub (and a newly aquired center channel speaker) and running the sound from the decoder's channel output (Surr L/R, L/R, center/sub) instead of the sub itself. This decoder, the Jazz De-006, is made for computers, thank God. However, with some creative engineering, it may be possible to derive DTS!!!! for under 200 bucks (buying a new speaker and the unit itself, which supposedly retails for 145 bucks. Just a thought, any ideas anyone else??? Tsound
