I have arrived at my mother in laws home in S.C. and found no music system. The drive unit for a Sony 5.1 HT system that was used in a non HT situation needs to be replaced. Her needs are not that ambitious but a 2.1 or small 2.0 bookshelf intergrated system with easy to use AM/FM and CD would do. I haven't looked at these in many years and was wondering if anyone had seen anything worth buying I would appreciate a tip. Thanks

Although visually striking, his elaborate horn arrangement has me doubtful.I'd still gander a listen if I was ever in the area, but I'm not about to drop $500 for what appears to be a glorified VST plug-in of sorts. I spoke with a knowledgeable audio guy who checked out "the glorified VST..." I asked what do you think and he said "Yes, if you are into effects (distortion / artificial reverberation)..." Well, singing in the shower can make one's own voice sound pretty good, but it is just an illusion. Can be fun for awhile but not my cup of tea. Some people like artificial reverberation effects, though... different folks have different tastes in sound reproduction. So to answer my own question I would say save your money and buy a three figure power cable

I wish they made tube sound cards with multi channels for active crossover driven systems using computers. They may but for now I am extremely happy with tube amps, especially on the high end of my two way system. I still like the SS I have for better bass IMO.

I have been trying, when time permits, to measure the response on my new Yield speakers. First I discovered that there was a little signal that crossed from the input side to output no matter the settings so I separated the output chores to a dedicated outboard DAC to fix that. Then I noticed that all of a sudden the PC lost its handshake with the card. It also would occasionally pop. Well as I only paid $30 for it what should I expect. Now I am in the market for another PC soundcard with phantom power for my measuring mic. I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion or two. I am also looking but thought there may be someone who has already had success with one. Thanks ahead.

I'm still in the setup stage. So far, even though they are misplaced, the sound is outstanding. How can a man get anything done when he is constantly being badgered about his new speakers. Let the man decide what heirloom furniture has to go now that he has speakers the size of a large dresser. For what its worth Boxx it can take some time and trials to optimize the sweet bass of the Jubilee. Congrats.

Another thought. I also had my son adjust the phase on the sub slowly while listening to some bass drum music that extended down to 30 Hz or lower. What I was listening for was the attack when the drum was struck. As some point the attack became cleaner and then as he kept turning it went muddy again. Backed the knob to the clean sweet spot and loved the bass of my system augmented by the sub. I believe, as an amateur audio enthusiast, that because you are dealing with such long wavelengths its vital to time align the sound from the sub with the sound from the mains, thus the 0-90 degree phase adjustment knob on many self powered subs.

Peanut gallery question: I have a love affair with tight and fast bass. As a non-technician I have come to understand the damping factor has a lot to do with tight and fast bass. And with my tube amps I still find my SS amp tighter and faster for bass but tube amps better for midrange and highs. Hence my preference for active crossover bi-amped systems. Question: Can you get a better damping factor in tube amps? If not why?

Been watching some Dog Whisperer episodes trying to deal with the energy of this new "Tennessee Brown Dog". Fear is a hard thing to deal with in a dog. Once broken, trust can never completely be regained. The DW guy says he trains humans and rehabs dogs. Indeed. Cesar Milan knows of what he speaks, and I have to agree with that quote. In my limited experience, this particular dog has trained me as much as I've trained him, but he is also the first warm blooded animal that I have ultimately been responsible for. I'm definitely better for him, but minimizing his exposure to anxiety triggers (once identified) greatly improved our mutual trust. there are some here in this forum for whom you have to be mindful of triggers. LOL

Now that we have three I may have to sell my Jubs to pay for the dog food and vet bills.(not) But I would in a heart beat as there is nothing warmer than the unconditional love of a dog, or a wife for that matter.

I love dogs. Wife brought home a rescue and turns out she loves jazz as much as I do.
