  1. Best Buy has advertised a Pioneer DVD and SACD player that's been marked down to $129.00. I can play everything on my PC BUT SACD. By that I don't mean the Hybrid CD/SACDs, which will play on my HTPC. I've got the Audigy 2 ZS Platinum card and the PM 5.1 Ultras. Is there a way to run the sound from the Pioneer through the PC to the speakers?

Better to just go ahead and get this upcoming DVD. P Jackson will be too busy working on King Kong and then the DVD for that to get around to any kind of Hi-Def DVD for a few more years. And then there's the HD vs Blu-ray war to have to sit through.
  3. I need a new Car Receiver/CD player with a budget not to exceed $300 USD. I need a good radio, CD player with CD-R/RW compatibility and MP3 would be nice too. I don't need anything real extravagant. No monster speakers, or XM/Sirius sat radio, or DVD. Just the basics with great reliability. Reliability is a real priority. Don't want it crapping out after only 2-3 years. What's the best brand for reliability? Pioneer, JVC, Kenwood? Any lemon brands to avoid? I've always just used the stock equipment that came with the car. But the stock stereo has crapped out after six years, and the local Ford dealer said I could get a good new one at H.H. Gregg or similar store for less than what they'd charge, as in $300-400.
  4. "No parents should ever have to bury their own children." King Theoden of Rohan after burying his son in LOTR: The Two Towers.
  5. LOTR 3 CD collection, Master & Commander, and thinking about getting the Desperado & ...Mexico soundtracks (if they exist)after watching those flicks over the weekend. I thought while watching them and going ga-ga over Salma Hayek that "You know, the music has been pretty darn good in both of these."

Always liked this movie too. Bought the original DVD release and then sold it after buying the Superbit version. I love Superbits. TFE Superbit has become a reference standard. Most everyone tests their HTs with this one.
  7. Recently at Best Buy, a saw an HD demo playing on their plasmas that was shot in Tahiti & Bora Bora. Beautiful, richly colored & exquisitely sharp scenery. Showed a couple walking on a beach, the community of bungalows over the water, canoes, island girls, etc. I would love to find a place on the net to download that or find someway to get a DVD with that video. It was about 5 minutes long. I've got most all the samples from the MS WMV HD Showcase(all the ones I want)and have also found a trailer for Van Helsing in 1280X720 resolution somewhere. I even have an all too short clip of bikini models originally shot by HDNet with HD cameras in 1080P. I know HDNet offers them on D-VHS but I will NOT buy D-VHS with Blu-Ray or HD-DVD just around the corner making DVHS very obsolete. I've bought my last VHS of any kind! Does anyone have the DVD version of those vids? I know they're on D-VHS as mentioned, but another website(The Bikini Network) is offering them on DVD and says they're extra sharp. If I could get that Tahiti clip and a longer Bikini Destinations clip somewhere, that would be outstanding! Something weird about that video; it quits with the progress bar only halfway across. Here's the source for the very, very brief BD clip : http://www.midwinter.com/hipix/BD-1080p.zip
  8. I read a review from someone the last few days who works at a video store that got their copies in a few days ahead of schedule. Maybe that's what happened with him, or he knew people who worked there. ?? Anyway, the picture & sound of the EE version due 3-4Q will be what is "second to none."
  9. Speaking of downloading trailers, does anyone know where I can download High Definition trailers OTHER THAN the ones at the Windows Media website? I've got all the WMV HD stuff from that site, along with the WMV HD DVDs currently available like T2 Extreme, Coral Reef Adventure and Step Into Liquid. Would like to find another site. Yes, I know about Atom Films already. Got a few there too. I was at Best Buy recently and saw a Hi-Def trailer there(among many others)of Tahiti & Bora Bora shot in HD. I've been to VOOM, HDNet, and Discovery Channel HD site, and none of them have trailers, much to my disappointment. I'd love to have that Tahiti trailer in HD. Throw in some island girls and I'd be real happy.
  10. AngryOrb: Yes, I followed the link to the other page where it gave that info. That's where I attempted both right & left clicking with no success. The official THX site is the same way. You have to be an official distributor, production company or whatever to be able to download. The "Bounty" trailer has been removed from their site as of late April apparently. I did succeed in dloading a couple of trailers, "Canyon" and "Rain" somewhere else in low res, but after all the work and searching have decided the content wasn't worth all the hard work in finding it. Y---a---w---n!
  11. Bumping. I read somewhere that if you have a non IE download manager, it can cause problems downloading. Thing is though, I'm not using any other DL manager. What am I doing wrong? Anyone here succeeded in downloading the THX/DTS/DD trailers?
  12. I couldn't find the "Bounty" trailer, and the ones I did find and tried to dload wouldn't. I tried both "Rain" & "Waterfall" both ways, left & right clicking. Neither worked. I did succeed in getting the WMV 1080P Race Cars video.
  13. Anyone here have the Denon 5900 Does Everything DVD player? OK, "Does Everything" is not the official name, but considering it includes DVD Video & Audio, CD, SACD, HDCD, DVD-R,-RW(I think)DCD-I, 24/192 and the kitchen sink, it might as well. Does it do an excellent job of everything or excellent on some but not others? Overall, how would you rate it?

    "CD-Rot" article

I still don't understand why it matters whether they're stored vertically or horizontally.
