Thanks Hugeroost - I simply cannot recommend the Palladiums enough, even if you have to pay the full price they are worth it if you ask me. And yes, that is a wood burning heater, it's made by a Danish company called Scan. This particular one is called a Scan DSA 5 - it actually is too big for this room (meaning it can heat much larger rooms) but we just love the design of it. Kindof like I love the P39s, even if I am sure the P37s would have been enough for me :-)

Thanks Shake - I am really glad you enjoy it as much as I do. Just watched "Real Steel" the other night, 7.1 sound on the Bluray really made you feel like you were in the stadium during the fight scenes. Are you getting closer to be able to share any more pictures of your awesome system?[]

A delight indeed - we are priviliged. I must say I love every minute I spend with those beauties around me. Every night the missus is out the volume comes up and a good bluray gets a spin - and I am in heaven[]

Hi Nic, Sorry for the late response, I have been travelling the last two weeks. As you probably remember I have a 7.1 system with two P17b's as sides and two P27s's as rears. The reason why my system is that way was really more space driven than anything else. The recommendations I got were the same as you are getting, use P27s's for both sides and rears. I know that you have seen my pictures and there you can see that I have windows on one side and open space on the other side of my seating area - so no place to hang the P27s's - I therefore ended up with using the P17b's as sides. If I had more than 5-6 feet of space behind the seating area I might actually have gone for P17b's as rears as well, and this is simply because I think the design is gorgeous (stupid I know). But as I only have about 1 foot between the couch and the rear wall I use the P27s's. What can I say about the sound? To me it is awesome. First of all I will say that moving from a 5.1 to a "proper" 7.1 - by proper I mean using sides and rears in addition to the fronts and center, not front wides or front highs - is amazing. The full immersion sound field created with 7.1 is just in a different leage than 5.1 if you ask me - especially now that a number of blurays are 7.1 or 6.1 (watched all the 6 Star Wars movies the other week - simply stunning). I cannot say that I think the P27s's disperse the sound too much - but then again I do sit quite close to them so my situation may not be all that compareable and relevant for you. My recommendation though is to try the P27s's if they are available - I do not think that you will be disappointed [] Good luck and let us know what you think!! Best regards, Skule

Thanks Nic - fully agree. No regrets, and this will most likely be the last speaker system I ever buy - as such you are correct, the investment is indeed acceptable. FYI I paid approx. retail less 30% LI is a little far from Norway I'm afraid, else I would have loved to listen to a 5-sub setup [] As you say I am extremely happy with my system and will stick with the one Palladium sub!!

I must admit that I don't have all that much experience with many different subs, and definitely not with multiple sub-setups like you have Nic. What I can say though is that the Palladium sub, even if it is considreably bigger than two shoeboxes, is simply amazing. I replaced an Infinity 5.1 setup with the Palladium 7.1 setup last year - and it was actually the sub that impressed me the most initially. As you probably have seen my HT room is not all that big, at least not the viewing/listening area but I was seriously considering two subs - after all the recommendations I got and read on-line. However, after setting this system up properly I have absolutely no need for a second Palladium sub - that thing is so powerful and goes so deep, yet it is so controlled. I consider myself extremely lucky to both have found Klipsch and the Palladiums, and to be able to afford the investment. I really went way above what I ever thought I would spend on AV equipment - but I don't regret it for a second. I feel like I am in sonic heaven whenever I listen to music or are watching a movie.

Sorry for the late reply gents! Well, basically Boxx is right but I have a few observations to make. First of all the Palladiums are extremely efficient indeed, so you don't need a tower of power to make them scream. I think I have found a very good setup and I think the bi-amped Marantz matches the P39fs and the P27f perfectly. The dynamics is awesome and it becomes uncomfortable to watch any movie at levels above -12dB - meaning I am not even at reference level and the couch really shakes whenever the Palladium sub gets going. And I can only do this when the wife is not home[:$] If the two of us are watching a movie I am at -20dB at the most (which is close to movie theatre level I think). With that said, the Palladiums are 4 ohm speakers, but in the lower frequencies, where more power is required, they do creep even lower than 4 ohm - meaning they pull even more corrent from the amps. As such they can handle quite a bit more power than my Maratz can provide, and may even benefit from having more "breathing space". Nic, aka Shake777, made some great remarks to this in another thread in this section when he added five 1000W mono amps to drive his 2*P38f, 1*P27c and 2*P37f setup. With that said though - I have come to the conclusion that I will never need to add more amp power to my setup - trying to watch a movie or play music at anything much above 0dB is simply too loud and it is uncomfortable to be in the room after a few minutes - but it is still chrystal clear [] A final note - at first when I installed the system I was not fully blown away by the improvement from my previous setup. I mean it was easy to tell it was much better, better separation, crisper sound, wider dynamics etc. In fact, initially it was the sub that impressed me the most. Now, during the Christmas and New Years holidays I was able to visit a few friends with systems which are very much like my old setup - when I then got home and had a movie night it really hit me how fantastic the Palladium system really sounds. There is really no comparison to my old system or any othe other ones I have heard out there - and man do I enjoy it!!!

Nic - your signature says (5) Emotiva XPA-5 (5*1000W) - aren't you using 5 of the XPA-1, the monoblock amp with 1000W in 4 ohms?? And not the 5 channel XPA-5?? Just checking!

Nic - I can't keep up with your wattage, that must sound simply stunning when you turn it up - I expect yours to go all the way to 11 [] When can we expect some good pictures of your whole system and room in all its glory (not only in the dark)???

Thanks guys!! This week I had the pleasure of helping to set up another system at a friend's house, a Synergy 5.1 system. Not too many of my friends have a surround system so I don't get to listen to other systems that often. We got the Synergy up and running and after a few tweaks, adding a carpet and moving the speakers a little, we re-ran the Pioneer calibration system and ended up with a great movie night. The point of this story? Well, last night the missus and I had a movie night here in our own Palladium heaven - and now I really know how spoilt I am - man the sound is good here. My friend was extremely happy with his setup, and I will not argue with him, it actually sounds great - but, I have to say that Palladium is a different world [:$]

On the couch you can see the 39f and 27c covers - I love the speakers without the covers on but that was the wife's one requirement - "if those huge speakers are coming in here, you better use the covers" - that compromise was for sure worth it!!!

The sides and the rear - now you can see why I prefer the 17bs for sides as i have no walls to hang 27s on here. Even if the 27s rears are quite close to the counch I love the 7.1 full immersion sound field they produce. Now that more and more 7.1 blurays are hitting the shelf I am so glad I upgraded to the "proper" 7.1 setup:
