    DVD Box Sets

Well Guys I thought this might be a good conversation starter as I thought to myself one day I really would like to own all 3 Jurassic Park DVDs but they are not out yet ( Hopefully in a box set soon). I as of today only have two box sets. Toy Story ( The Ultimate Toy Box ) and Scream ( Hey my wife wanted it ok ). I see some box sets that look like a good idea like the Sopranos and possibly the ALien Legacy. I know me personally I am waiting for Mr. Lucas to release a little known flick called Star Wars but agian.....I want to make one big box purchase and have that be it. I at one time had my hands on the entire Star Wars 4, 5 ,6 episodes on Laser Disc but ended up selling them right away because I got strapped for cash. I just thought it would be a good idea for people to post possibly there favorite box sets or box sets they would like to see. ------------------ This is my first Home Theater so kinda bare with me. Speakers Klipsch Quintets. Possibly upgrading to synergy 6. Reciever Sony DB-930. No hiss from this baby !! MiniDisc Sony MDS-JE510 LaserDisc Pioneer CLD-990 CD player Kenwood DP-R4430 Subwoofer Mirage FRX-15 300 watt DVD RCA that needs to be upgraded and given to my Dad because he has a bose system and would not know the difference
  2. some of my favorite 5.1 testers are The Matrix ( yes the bullet scene) Red planet with Val Kilmer, Heat for that amazing bank robbery scene, Ronin, Toy Story ( get the 3 disc toy box set ) Glory, Sleepy Hollow, Mystery Men, I want Jurassic park and the Lost World but with the third movie out I think I will wait for the box set. I don't know how to accurately place this DVD in my collection but the Beastie Boys Video Anthology is a amazing set of discs. I also LIKE Chicken run, Aliens is good for some deleted scenes, and last but not least my wife and I love this movie called saving grace, it is a cute little movie and has a bass heavy soundtrack that rocks !! Yeah I know it is a chick flick but I did mention my wife loved that movie didn't I ??? Anyway these are fun 5.1 testers and I tried not to mention any of the movies that had already been posted above but believe me they are kickers as well. HAVE FUN with this ------------------ This is my first Home Theater so kinda bare with me. Speakers Klipsch Quintets. Possibly upgrading to synergy 6. Reciever Sony DB-930. No hiss from this baby !! 3. I gots me a question about Blose movie sound ( some guy from a Klipsch BB said that you could not call Blose home theater ) set up. I just purchased me that there Blose Acoustamass system and wanted to know if I could use my Blose waveRadio as a center channel for movie like sound. I figured why not the sound is almost life like and it feels the room with sound like Schafers light fills the room with the smell of cheap beer. I think my wife/cousin will love the idea. I bought me the Blose system at Blest buy here in L.A. ( lower Alabama ) so get others to share there set ups here on the Blose Bulletin board ------------------ This is my first Home Theater so kinda bare with me. 4. Well I own a quintet home system and this is my first home theater as you can see below. I LOVE my quintets however I am aware that there are bigger and better HT speakers out there. You need to start somewhere though and to me this seemed like a good place. I am soon to start looking for new speakers and doing the continious life long upgrade but to me......that is part of the fun of HT. I recomend the quintets as a great big step above bose. For goodness sakes stay away from that stuff ------------------ This is my first Home Theater so kinda bare with me. 5. Cerwin Vegas huh ??? I bought my first pair of speakers back in the late 80s and they were Cerwin Vega AT-15s Man they were so loud !!!!! They put out the BASS !!!! I was living at home at the time and man my mom hated those things from the moment that she laid eyes on the boxes !! LOL We had to make two trips to get them both home because I could not get them both in to my full size 4 door Caprice Classic. THEY WERE BIG !!!!! The Coolest thing about them was the owners manual. It had this great line that read something like "Please do not abuse these speakers at N.A.S.A. like volume labels." I mean it is bad that the reputation of these speakersis one of sheer ear abuse but to admit off hand that you know that your speakers are soon to be annoying your family, neighbors and zip code is really bad. As it turns out my original goal of music was to have a system loud enough to wake up the whold zipcode. Needless to say I have changed quite a bit as I am not interested in the zipcode but just my little living room. I just want clarity. I just want Klipsch ------------------ This is my first Home Theater so kinda bare with me. 6. Well TVs are a topic that are pretty much like speakers I guess. We in here love Klipsch....hey that is our thing !!! However we have all heard Klipsch and know what to listent for. Well same thing with TVs......we can all sit here and say that Mitsu or Sony or someone is better but until we take ourselves down to anywhere other than Circuit City or Worse Buy it really doesn't matter. I personally like the Pioneer Elite hidef models that I saw at HIFIBuys (Tweeter for you guys up north) and I thought that pict blows away the Sonys. That is just what I saw though, perhaps someone else had a liking for this or that ???? I just know that research is half the fun of shopping for this stuff.......taking you fav DVDs into a store and also checking out what the sales guys have is a good place to start but as with speakers, let your senses sell you a component, not a reputation or a name. But none the less never forget one thing No Highs No Lows Must be Bose ------------------ This is my first Home Theater so kinda bare with me. 7. Well Klipsch and Monster Cable huh ?? I am very new to the home theater world and have some monster cable wiring and Toslink Cables in my system so I am not too suprised to see the pairing. Cables and wires are pretty much the weakest link in any home scenario anyway so why not have a big time name like monster cable on the inside. This sounds like a huge win win marketing stragety for everyone if you ask me. You have the Klipsch name which is not that well known at all. You now have ( I am guessing here ) a big monster cable sticker or a poster somewhere saying that Monster is now on the insideof Klipsch speakers, and you got a salesman that is going to sell monster cables at his store. Now Granted I am a novice at the HT world but I know enough to start my first HT with Klipsch and yeah I recoginized all the hype with wiring was just that !! HYPE !! This could be a edge that Klipsch could use to gain a market foot hold. Who knows ????? Like I said I am new at this so go easy on me guys. ------------------ This is my first Home Theater so kinda bare with me. 8. Well someone put it to me like this. No highs No lows must be bose !!!!!! I live in Atlanta and we have tweeter or hifi buys which ever you want to call it and I have heard 4 different sales guys say the same thing about bose, they are just there for mass consumption of the public. My Dad has a Bose system ( although I hate to admit that he does ) and I have a Klipsch quintet HT. He came over and yeah I blew him away. I am just glad I got more involved than to buy Bose Jeffrey
