@Chris A thanks for reminding me about this. I was listening for a bit this past weekend (imagine actually having time to listen) and was definitely made aware of what @Schu and you are saying. These speakers sound better at high volumes for sure. And what is needed to tame this is room treatments. I certainly cannot listen at 95 to 110 dB continuously.

Yup. Especially right after storm. They just let the sewage out into the ocean when the treatment plants overflow. Don't know about you @Shiva but I'm ready for no rain for a little bit. Doesn't look like its gonna happen though. I think yesterday we got over 6 inches. Jeesh.

To clarify. Regular analog volume controls are "audio taper". At 12 o'clock position the resistance is approx. one tenth of the total meaning only one tenth of the voltage is being passed downstream. This is done because human hearing as far as loudness is concerned is logarithmic in nature. Once an analog signal has been digitized and is being controlled in a DSP the volume control can be programmed to do whatever taper the programmer wants.

I'm guessing cuz I don't know but I'll bet that thing is great for sound reinforcement i.e. low string on bass guitar. but HT sound effects etc probably not.

Amplifiers ON last, OFF first is a rule of thumb. I do not have any experience with the board you mention but I have looked at it because I have 4 old Crown Pro amps that have no turn on/off delay or protection and I also need something. I'm working on my own design because I need time delayed on and instant off. Turn off is when I get a pop. I am not clear if DIYaudio's design is instant off.

Hello it's me.

A few of the present day digital mixers are small enough to be rack mountable. Heck there's even mixers in a rack mount box and the control surface is an iPad or a phone. Having level, gain, and pan controls as well as parametric eq and mixing controls make it super flexible. You've got to be careful though as they are mainly slanted towards microphone inputs and maybe shy of line level inputs.

Not really what I got although some wire was received but what I have been working on the last rainy weekends. Get all those wires off the utility room floor. I still need to sano out the AC wiring but the speakers are done for now.
