  1. Anything going on with the pegged meters? Sorry for my absence, I got invited to a concert last night and therefore did not get all my chores done yesterday. So I will be spotty again today. Edit-----Did not see your above post or we were posting at the same time.
  2. Let's figure this out. A couple clichés come to mind: 'Sum ting wong' and 'the answers are out there'. But like I said in a previous post have no fear. Edit--- man its Saturday, I've got chores to do. I'll try to check in later.
  3. Never seen that on my unit so far. I would think first of all that you should set it up so any unused outputs are muted. Inputs too. What are the meters in XConsole showing when the front panel meters are showing this? Oh and yes I agree with Coytee if I could get my unit to output like that the Jubes would blow you out of the room
  4. It isn't the mountains ahead that wear you out, it's the grain of sand in your shoe. You really can't get that broken off fuse cap out of the fuse holder cap? Did you try a small pair of needle nose pliers? Insert the tip with jaw closed. Then open enough to squeeze against the sides of the broken off cap. Pull out while still exerting pressure against the insides of the cap.
  5. @CECAA850 has 'em in his garage for crying out loud. With some monster boomer sub
  6. Comic debris.. That's good for a laugh
  7. Yea I don't know the circuits in your Mac. I would not tie pins 1 and 3 together on any XLR OUTPUT that I did not know the circuit topology. Yes no harm. But tie the wires on pins 1 and 3 of the XLR output AT the RCA connector at the input to your amp.
  8. @MisterVego Are you talking now about the INPUTS to the Xilica? From an unbalanced output(your McIntosh pre)?
  9. And a few from the present tear down of unit #1. Guts removed, back panel detached for machining to add new connectors and transformers.
  10. A few pics from a couple years ago before any mods were made.
  11. They're already hot rodded. I bought them off EBay a few years back. I have more time and money in them than the used units cost off of EBay. After all this is a hobby, right? I even got a hold of a guy in Australia that made new circuit boards for the remote control receiver board that actually work! Why would switchable modes, balanced or unbalanced detract from their value? Just cuz its not stock?
  12. Again I know for a fact that the Xilica output on pin 3 is just the signal ground through an impedance that matches the impedance of output on pin 2. Thus making it a balanced output. Tying this to ground on the RCA connector end will not damage the Xilica's output. Please give a link to "some sources"
  13. At least give the poor thing a towel on the flaming hot shingles.... Maybe she's into pain
  14. Hi All, Starting the process of pulling apart my 2 dbx 4bx dynamic range expanders to add balanced I/O. Just wondering if there is any interest here of me taking pictures along the way. I went through these units a couple winters ago and changed out most of the opamps, VCAs, RMS level detectors and almost all the caps.
  15. I'm waiting for the pictures of putting it back together😎
  16. Wow. I can't feel the love tonight No Love(or even like) for Uncle Eltie here. Hmmmmmm. To each his own. A great time was had by all.
  17. On a different note. Having a few people over today for a late lunch/early dinner. Then we're headed over to a small outside venue close to my house to see an Elton John tribute band. Should be lots of fun. I will serve my world famous spice rubbed roasted chicken breast and garlic and whole peppercorn stuffed tri tip roast. Both cooked on the green egg outside, its too dang hot to cook indoors. Cheers all.
  18. Wow Trials and tribulations. Life has 'em and we all go through 'em. Sucks when you're right in the mid.dle of one. Best wishes taking care of yours OT
