If you want you can get birch there. ---------------- Thanks, Dylanl. My Question #2 wasn't worded very well. My Question #2 should be: Are all 4 panels the same shape? i.e the notches on the bottom. (opposite side of the beveled edge). Thanks JJ
  5. Hi: I have a couple questions regarding the side grills for '78 K-horns (WO B style). 1. What kind of plywood was used for these grills? I found an old thread that Andy (HDRbuilder) mentioned to use Baltic Birch. This type of plywood is very hard to find in my neck of the woods unless it is special ordered. Since I'm looking for one 4x8 piece, no place will even think about ordering. (I want to keep the speakers as original as possible) 2. Are all the grills the same shape/size? All but 1 side grill is trashed so I have no idea if all four are the same design. Thank You in advance for your help!! JJ
  6. A couple more to add to my HOnorable mention list.. Yellow Submarine and The Rocky Horror Picture Show. JJ

  8. Owner32: You can purchase bucking magnets from Klipsch, if they still have them in stock. I can't remember the prices, but they were reasonable. Other members may have alt sources to purchase these magnets. JJ P.S. Use the SEARCH engine (above, right) and put in... bucking magnets.. There is a lot of info on this subject. Also, Welcome to the Forum!!!
  9. I believe that this is the same guy (Don Gurney ?) that made the Mini-K-horns that Greg bought. Very nice work, indeed!!! JJ
  10. Hmmmm. I never really counted until you brought this up and I'm almost embarrased to even list it. 50 cd's 3 Cassettes 15 8-Tracks I'll have to work on this for my K-horns may revolt!!! JJ

Lucky for me, I only had negotiate the obstacle course carrying a top section of one of the K-horns. You sure could tell they are/were strapped for cash, so hopefully it didn't go up in smoke, and I'm not talking about the legal kind of smoke. I look at it as I rescued a pair K-horns from a bad situation and now they are in a better place. [smile> JJ
  13. Tom: I was the one that bought the "Klitch" K-horns that were located in Richfield. Yes, those Cornwalls were in rough shape and knew they needed alot of work so that why I passed on them. As for the K-horns, it would have been a better deal if the woofers were not rotted out, but still got them at a good price. New replacements from BEC got me running again. There is some veneer damage but all in all the corners are good and with a little stripping and re-oiling they will look very presentable until I get the funds to reveneer. I would like to see some after pictures of those Cornwalls, Tom. JJ
  14. Don't let Gary near them!! He'll probably walk away with them , free of Charge!! JJ

  19. Here is a picture of the HT Front. JJ
  20. This is more of a test to see if I can include the picture in the post. Sorry about the qualitiy, but using a borrowed camera and just can't get the pictures to come out right. Either too dark or too bright etc. These are the K-horns that had major woofer damage due to being stored in a garage for a year and have since replaced them with new ones from Bob (BEC) They will need some sprucing up but due to the woofer replacements, that will have to come later. JJ

  22. Hi Thump: I wish to thank all of you, esp. Bob (BEC), that helped me getting these K-Horns working. The woofers were basically trashed. If I wasn't such a chicken and would have taken out the woofers, like Ricktate (sp?)mentioned, I could have saved you guys some grief trying to figure out the problem. I ended up replacing them with new woofers that I got from Bob. I sure did learn a lot, and I thank you, again, for that. I'll be posting some pictures with-in the next hour or two. (I finally cleaned up the room to make it some what presentable) As for the K-Horns themselves, they may not look the greatest, but I just close my eyes and listen to the amazing sound. Bob: I have donated the old woofers to my old High School's Science Dept., for the instructor wants to incorporate Audio physics, etc to his lesson plan. I hope that this is OK because I also wanted to help you as well in your future plans of reconning woofers. I just can't seem to say thank you enough, so you are going to hear it again.. Thank you all for your help with this adventure and also in advance for the adventures to come!! JJ
  23. I now have the luxury of testing, demoing most of the speakers that others have mentioned as their choice of the "Best Rock & Roll Speakers". In my case I have a pair of K-Horns, 3 Cornwalls, and a pair of KLF-30's, with KLF C-7 center. IMHO, the Klf-30's are by far my speaker of choice for R & R. But, I'll be the first one to admit, that my listening room isn't even close to being ideal for the K-Horns and Cornwalls. The room is 14 X 23 and the room layout doesn't permit me to place the K-Horns or the Cornwalls on a long wall. They all sound excellent for R & R, but as someone else has mentioned, you can plop the KLF 30's just about anywhere and you are going to be in the so called proverbial R & R heaven. As for other music genre's, the jury is still out, except for my Bagpipe music collection. The K-horns by far are the best and they sound so good, that I almost wanted to don a kilt, call MyHamish, and go Braveheart on something. JJ

Just tape a lead to each end of the batter and touch them to the woofer tabs (one on +, the other on - ). If the woofer doesn't push out, or pull back -- the voice coil is open. Do NOT use a 9 volt battery. ---------------- DeanG: I did this test last night, using a "C" battery, neither woofer moved. To double check my new HI-Tech testing gadget, I was able to get the woofer to push out and pull back on my test Cornwall. So, this solves one mystery. What are my options? Thanks again, guys, for all the great advice and moral support you have given me through out this ordeal. JJ EDITED: Bob sells diaphrams, not voice coils. Sorry for my mistake
