  1. Is that curly maple or a burl or some sort? edit: nm, I see it is waterfall bubinga
  2. In over-simplified terms, you would mount the correct driver right on the board you cut, and you have a speaker. Some folks make the base a subwoofer, others a bass bin, and others nothing...
  3. Not sure. I thought diodes had a flow path. A diode is a two-terminal electronic component that conducts current primarily in one direction (asymmetric conductance
  4. I'm the only excitement today.. Pretty slow day then. Thanks for the welcome party.
  5. With a hobby like live edge wood slabs it seems like "flat baffle" or "open baffle" speakers is what you should consider studying up on.
  6. I think the R reverses the cathode and anode as stud as compared the the regular 3996 or the 3996A. 1N3996 and 1N3996A has this: http://www.digitroncorp.com/Documents/Dimensions/Zener-DO-4.aspx?ext=.pdf 1N3996R and 1N3996RA has this: http://www.digitroncorp.com/Documents/Dimensions/Zener-DO-4R.aspx?ext=.pdf
  7. I threw together this spreadsheet to be able to quickly see how many dB I would get in a particular amp/speaker combo. I think I got it right, but I'm not overly confident. Here is the file link: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1CGLhHTS8LWnumqUzu6BkIp4cv2Vqyjj- It is a .xls file. I tried to do this in google sheets, but that limits people who are logged into google to be able to use the file. Let me know what you think. Did I screw anything up?
  8. I had shared the heritage specs a while back and inadvertently locked the google drive they were on. You can go to this page to see the specs for the Belle, Chorus, Chorus II, Cornwall, Cornwall II, Forte, Forte II, Heresy, heresy II, JPT-100, KPT-200, LaScala, and Quartet speakers: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B_-5nvuxy-j7d3V6aEc0WjZvMUk Let me know if you have trouble accessing anything...

  10. Scan the file here: https://www.virustotal.com/en/. This will upload the file and scan it with 65 different antivirus scanners. I just re-downloaded the "latest version (0.7.950, 29.10.2016)" from http://www.linearteam.org/ and scanned it with Windows Defender and it found zero threats. I uploaded the file to VirusTotal and it had a positive on 1 of 65 engines. Engine: Bkav Threat: HW32.Packed.B3AC Updated: 20171222. This is probably a false positive. To download this file directly, go to http://www.linearteam.org/download/winisd-07x.exe. Once downloaded, scan it and check it with VirisTotal. Furthermore, you can always download the old version alpha 0.50, which I like more anyway.
  11. His real email address is hidden though CL, but you can send to him with this: krcjq-6363674310@sale.craigslist.org His price went up to $575. @Jachko, you are gonna just need to keep looking. I'd widen my list some though. If you'd like Forte's you'd like Chorus and Cornwalls too. These 4.2's are good speakers at $150. I use them in my main HT and I don't have a single complaint: https://providence.craigslist.org/ele/d/set-of-two-klipsch-speakers/6335794100.html These say $400 OBO Forte II's: https://newlondon.craigslist.org/ele/d/klipsch-forte-ii/6300603733.html These look nice: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Klipsch-Forte-Main-Stereo-Speakers/122778918700?epid=79639493&hash=item1c96319f2c:g:6fIAAOSwj9dZ2nJZ
  12. I never really thought about buying a curved TV, but I am really thinking about a curved computer monitor. They are up to 49" now, but they still only have 1080 scan lines. I want 1440. Here is the 49" Samsung (3840x)1080p https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824022584
  13. Or ask him to meet you in front of the police station.
  14. The guy talks in the comments section about the in-wall surrounds and that they are too far forward. He also mentions Atmos wiring. His sub is an 8" and his center mains look like the size of Promedia's. So sad! He also mentions that he misses his tower speakers and that his wife helped him with the project. Maybe that is the real story...
  15. Can you believe the amount of work he did with no consideration at all for sound? What shocked me as much was the positive feedback. That means there are actually other people who think that too. This world we live in is a scary place.....
  16. I made a post to try to get this guy to understand that the A in AV means audio. What a beautiful HT with a complete crap sound system! DON'T click on the picture or you will be taken to Imgur. This stupid Klipsch BBS software! Click on the title "My home theater..." part.
  17. You would want to meet the OE specs as closely as possible. Bob Crites went through all this when he had his K33/43 replacement series speakers manufactured for him. He went through a painstaking process knowing PWK was watching from his grave. Everybody who has bought them likes them. This speaker-repair-center is kind of a crap shoot unless there are some folks here who have used them. Here is a thread I put up a while back which shows the Thiele Small specs for these speakers and a few more. The information was as accurate as I could get info on and is not corroborated by Klipsch company. My goal was to allow people to use the Klipsch drivers in other cabinets and to allow folks to be able to see how a replacement speaker may compare to OE. Lots and lots of folks have experimented with lots and lots of drivers over the years. Crites is the best of them followed by Eminence Kappa 15-C's if I remember right.
  18. I hope you do not take this the wrong way. I really think your room needs some professional help, or you need to do some room layout research. It looks pretty dull with furniture lining all the walls, and that TV screen is too small for the distances. Here are some links for arranging living rooms which would apply to dens and family rooms as well. https://www.crateandbarrel.com/ideas-and-advice/how-to-arrange-furniture https://www.thespruce.com/how-to-arrange-living-room-furniture-1976578 http://www.bhg.com/rooms/living-room/room-arranging/living-room-furniture-arrangement-ideas/ Once you get the room laid out, you can start pulling wiring. Until then, I wouldn't dare set those rears. The TV should be in a place where you don't see reflection of the window behind you. It might be as simple as turning the TV a bit if you are on a wall or in a space opposite the windows.
  19. Dude I would, but I need 3 meters! Does anybody know if they still make cable stretchers?
  20. I never did much veneer, so I was afraid of it. About a year and a half ago, I built a custom entertainment center and gave veneering a try. I built the thing out of MDF, so the surfaces and edges were very tidy. I used the contact cement method, a hard roller, and a double edge trimmer. It was a very fun project my son and I did together. I put the veneer on before I assembled. On your Belle's, you would need to have the surfaces tidied up and the edges sharp. I'm not sure if removing the current veneer would be needed. perhaps somebody could chime in on that. personally, I would be using auto filler to square and sharpen everything. Maybe there are people here who would cringe about that on Belles, but if I were going to put veneer down, I wouldn't hesitate. There are so many BEAUTIFUL veneers to choose from. Check out the work of Greg Roberts from Volti. He is truly a master! Here was my very first veneer attempt. The folks at Woodcraft were very helpful! I was intimidated as hell. There was no need. It was easy! I highly recommend it!
  21. These look nice and have original boxes. I have no affiliation. KLIPSCH HERESY TYPE HBR FLOORSTANDING SPEAKERS
  22. Klipsch Cornwall I am not affiliated. I saw these at $500 with 14 hrs left, but they are too far away for me. There have been a couple questions answered.
  23. One original Klipsch type K-33-E 15" low frequency speaker - nice original I have no affiliation, and would ask for a sharper top photo. This one is out of focus.
  24. For those of you who would like the specs on the various original heritage speakers, I put together a google drive of some of them here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B_-5nvuxy-j7MEFDVXdnS0FtWXM.
