  1. One more story? 25 years ago at a Kid's Square Dance Recital being held in a school gymnasium in Lamar, Colorado (southeast corner of state near nowhere) I couldn't help noticing the wonderful sound filling the building while the kids danced and the grown up's cheered. After a while of searching for the source I spotted in the distance, on the other side of the gym, standing proudly in each corner on the top row of bleachers birch LaScala's. The distance allowed the mids to chill a bit while the bass notes developed and didn't weaken at all.
  2. Well, I thought I sent another reply but now I don't see it. Anyway, I was just saying I only had a KV 3 which won't even keep up with your Klipschorns. I was curious about the model of your ceiling/wall speakers. I won the white KG 2.2's and trying to figure out what I can do with them. When I was asking around on the forum about a center for our LaScala's everyone said hold out for a third LaScala so I'll just pass that on. I ended up buying a pair of splits and selling one to another forum member to go with his LaScala's. Good luck in your search.
  3. Industrial LaScala's. But you already knew that I'm sure. lol
  4. what mains are you wanting to use it with?
  5. Just playing around. trying to put a couple of KLF C7's (thank you Billy in Charleston) back in service, I did something I thought I would never confess to. After reading this thread I decided to come clean. I'm using a $25 KV3 from a garage sale and a synergy 10" sub with the legends and for TV only its ok. The C7's sit on their sides with the grills removed and could be mistaken (by some) as actually being floor speakers. Please don't have too much fun with this but the OP asked the question. Heading out for the gathering in Hope later today with a stayover in Memphis for BBQ. Hope everyone attending has a safe and fun time.
  6. Thanks for the heads up. Just set the DVR. Heard lot of good stuff about this series.
  7. They are pro series stuff which will mean more power handling and a more rugged enclosure. The LaScala Industrial Splits alone would be a great deal for $1,000 and the stage monitors just consider a bonus, Jump on these and fast. If for no other reason than as an investment. Be prepared for a lot of replies on this. GREAT FIND
  8. As Paul Harvey would have said---And now you know, the rest of the story. Way to go.
  9. This has been a great read so far but its like when the suspense is peaked I discovered the final chapter must be missing. All along I was thinking voltage issues for whatever its worth. Was the mystery ever resolved????
  10. See it on AXSTV channel 340 DIRECTV Tuesday March 22nd. at 1:00 pm. This show happened in 2014 and also features Firefall, Manassas and Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.
  11. Thanks Jim, since I have no references to turntable doc and you have had experience with Bill I will surely check him out. I'm getting a hum on the right channel that can be temporarily fixed by jiggling the jack where it plugs into the receiver. If i reverse the cables the hum moves to the left side so I guess I need a new cable. Larry
  12. Keith: I have no experience with this guy but was thinking about having him look at some issues with my Dual 506. Turntable Doc turntable repairs can be contacted at turntabledoc@gmail.com Good luck getting it fixed up.
  13. Hey Russ: these look very nice. because they were special ordered they could also be custom built by the project guys. Charles and Ronnie worked on experimental projects and special orders. Andy worked with these guys too and might know more.
  14. Hi Terri: I too offer my sympathy. It saddens me to think of your situation involving selling your dads LaScalas. I was an employee at K&A in mid 76 and 77 and still own the last pair of LaScals built in 1976. I can truly appreciate and understand how he must have loved those loudspeakers. Good luck with your sale. Larry
  15. I REALLY LIKE MY THREE LASCALAS UP FRONT AND KLF 30'S IN BEHIND. 30.S ADD SOME DEPTH TO THE BASS NEEDED WITHOUT SUBS. IF YOU HAVE 7.1 AND CAN BRIDGE THE REAR SURROUND TO THE 2ND LASCALA TRY IT BETWEEN THE TWO 30.S ON THE BACK WALL. HOPE YOU HAVE A BIG ROOM, GOOD LUCK. OH, THIS WAY YOU DON'T HAVE TO SELL THOSE BEAUTIFUL LS'S OR LOVELY SKINNY BLACK 30'S.
  16. lmao to the latest post
  17. about the height placement? seems like i remember the center should be about the same as the midrange driver of the mains. i have read a lot on the subject in previous threads so try going back for some really good info. also, if you are using the long wall for the front then i would think you would want a center. two or three years ago i ask a similar question on the forum about what to use between two LaScalas and was convinced that a like speaker (another LS) was the best way to go! you guys were right, thanks again
  18. Hey local folks: After sharing stories with some of you in a Garage Sale Thread (specific signatures) I wonder if any of you guys were ever fortunate enough to know or be entertained by a Hot Springs boy named Terry Williams. He did a print ad for the Industrial Heresy, had an album promoted by Bob Moors (Magic Bottle Of Wine) and was friend to a lot of K&A folks. He did regular gigs at the Sawmill Depot in Hot springs in the mid 70's leaving fans anxious to hear more.
  19. Nobody looks familiar other than GW. He looks slightly older than the last time I saw him which was autumn of 77. Sounds like another good show in Shreveport.
  20. Hey folks: Want to put a face to some of those signatures or just step back in time? Go to the official site and at the bottom go to site map (be patient) then all the way down to "Who's That". You will find photos from way back but find 75 employee photo with Paul and also 76 employee photo. Gwen Cox was mentioned in a post, she appears in the 76 photo as #26. The list identifies #26 as Billy Gibson but Billy wasn't present for the photo. Gary can be found in both photos having a good time as usual. I must admit we may appear to some to be a motly crew but the people seen in these photos were proudly building the finest loudspeakers in the world, The Heritage Line. Happy Listening, Larry #11 "76"
  21. Hey friend of GW: Nothing for sale with the signature of Gary but I will share a story with you. I moved to the city of Hope in 1976 after taking a job at K&A as a LaScala builder. Found a farm house to rent quickly and was informed by friends that the final assembly foreman was wanting to move out from moms place so we became roommates. Gary had Heresys and I had Advents and Gary turned me on to Pure Prairie League and introduced me to lots of the locals and invited them out for parties and visits. I became interested in building a pair of LaScala's for myself quickly and had collected all the matching boards by Christmas and received the cost of the pair $510.00 from Mom and Dad for Christmas. Gary opened the plant for me on the 31st at 8:00 am and when he returned late that afternoon the last pair of speakers built in 1976 were ready for Gary's viewing. He was so blown away that he offered components he had matched and tested for a Khorn project he had planned but wanted to use them in my LaScala's. When we returned to work after the holidays he personally escorted the pair through sanding and finish (five coats clear lacquer)and completed the build with his hoarded components. They ended up being displayed in packaging that afternoon for everyone to view and marvel over. The Reps were hanging out that afternoon and Jack wanted to take them to Nashville and offer them to one of his accounts for $2000.00. I declined the offer, watched them get boxed up and loaded onto Andy's truck (shipping and receiving foreman) for delivery home. Gary and I unpacked them, hooked them up and auditioned them for the neighbors. They are still the centerpiece of my home entertainment system and remain in their original condition. Thanks for reminding me of a friend and putting a whole new level of value on something with a touch of Gary on it.
  22. I see i'm a few week late on this but maybe this will be helpful to others in the future. If the f connector is correct for the cable it should slip right on but if not a 7/16th nut driver over the end of the connector will help, also make sure the aluminum braid is pulled back evenly. If your cable is quad shield there will be braid, foil, braid. Make sure the foil is removed from between the two layers of braid to make the connector slip on easier. If no compression tool is available try using two pair of channel locks to compress the connector, you might need a helper with this. A properly prepped cable will have 1/4" exposed copper center conductor and another 1/4" with only the outer cover removedIf any strands of braid touch the center conductor the end will be grounded and will not work. Larry
  23. I too would like to congratulate you, LaScala in the center is best. I recently moved the chairs back from the front wall and noticed a big improvement, seems the bass needs room to develop while giving the mids and highs a chance to mellow. This may mess up your floor plan but for me it created a dance hall in the center of the room for my wife and daughter to act goofy.
  24. I say this in somewhat of a joking way but maybe an equipment change would help. If you have never experienced Heritage series speakers the therapy you need might be found in a pair of Klipschorns, later maybe add LaScalas and eventually one or two of the horn loaded subs like the Tuba. Just sayin... Good luck and happy listening.
