  1. Billy knows LaScalas....the bigger the better, The neighbors will love um
  2. haven't seen one that inexpensive ever, great speaker. btw, how you liking that split LS in the center?
  3. older Directv remotes were around before soundbars so your remote may be unable to program. newer remotes with updated codes are available and that may be what is required, as always when seeking tech help if your not happy with what your getting from an agent hang up and call back, you will get somebody new. also Directv forum is the home of the most avid dtv customers, they live and breath this stuff and love directv as much as we love our Klipsch loudspeakers so don't give up.
  4. Congratulations: Reading your story has left a smile on my face. I've lived with mine since 1976 and the enjoyment continues, I wish you many years of enjoyment and listening satisfaction.
  5. before 5.1 and even 7.2 the long wall would have been the answer, corner placement with a bridged center for listening enjoyment was it. however, things have changed and in the HT world the earlier comments about the seamless soundstage and rear surrounds put the mains on the short wall. for listening only though I would go for 3.1 or 3.nothing on the long wall as prescribed by the Legend in Sound.
  6. If you want any bass from a loudspeaker somewhat lacking in bass to begin with (no disrespect for a fine product) while elevating the listening level you might try slant risers or building a solid platform under the units using 4" X 8" X 16" cement blocks (no cavities). It's the open space underneath where the bass is lost. Cost is about a dollar each and if you aren"t satisfied they can be returned. The idea of stacking cement blocks in your living room sounds crazy I'm sure but they can be covered with you choice of fabric or framed with your choice of building material. I recommend completing the project with the wife away or unaware. Corner placement if possible will result in noticeable improvement as well. Good luck, i hope you find this useful.
  7. Try the heresys in corners if you can. Even though it was conceived as a bridged center between Klipschorns, corner placement still helps and stand are no good for the lower octaves, btw C7 with any KLF's will be very pleasing. Good Luck
  8. As long as you are not on a concrete floor I think you will like the SVS downward firing cylinder. I recently moved mine from basement to living room and what a difference. You can't get the "feel" of a downward firing on concrete, especially wirh carpet.
  9. Yea, We had to know that was coming too. We better be careful though, I believe one of the rules was no politics or religion. Funny stuff my friend.
  10. I was born in Little Rock, Collitch in Arkadelphia and on to the "CITY OF HOPE" and where did you find my long lost family photo, I agree, you had to know it was coming at some point, LMAO
  11. It is expensive and really is a last resort but sometimes it's your only alternative. As a satellite TV tech the thing I hear customers complain about most is the surprise cost at the time of installation. Hughes net has improved a lot but beware installers are sub contractors and are not restricted from charging to install the dish on a pole. For the installer to provide a two inch pole (electrical conduit) concrete and put it in the ground might add a little on the spot expense, (close to a hundred). If Directv does satellite internet in your area and the job is done by an in house tech the installation probably will come without hidden charges. I believe Wild Blue is the name of the internet provider that Directv is partnered with so you may save if you bundle the services. Also be aware of lease agreements which can be a long time if your unhappy with the service. I have talked to people that are very satisfied and like rural living so much that the lack of speed is a small price to pay.
  12. The Heresy in no way is a compromise as long as it's the correct application and set up properly. Don't expect the Heresy to perform like a LaScala in a gymnasium however. I'm sure most already know these fundamentals but nobody has mentioned in this thread so if I may. Corner placement and proper toe in are very helpful even though the Heresy was created as a bridged center between the Klipschorn. Also, if not placed on the floor, lower end octave loss will occur. Again, corner placement will instantly improve output of just about any speaker.
  13. Not really, I told another member I was asking $650 in a private message.. I'll pm you
  14. Hey Scott - here's the picture of the split and the whole thread.
  15. I am considering parting with a quite unusual pair of HWO's from 1977. They are truly perfect in every way; the grain matches perfectly, the condition is completely flawless. I have seen nothing that compares to these. Oh, they sound pretty good too! Grille cloth is #17 gold (very pretty and looks good with cabinets) These were employee factory discount speakers and received extra attention from beginning to end. Original boxes and packing materials come with them. I have lots of pictures - would be happy to email them to anyone interested. Asking $650.
  16. Hey Budman. Check out islanders post on this thread about the splits in Atlanta. How do you feel about Industrials?
  17. Thanks Pat! This is something to look into, I may know someone in Cincinnati to partner with on these. Gotta get busy, I wanna hear more about the movie too. Thanks again.
  18. Greetings Islander: I LOVE IT!! La Scala guys make me smile and giggle. I bet movie nights a blast at your place!!! Larry in Chattanooga, Tennessee (way far away)
  19. My plan to sell one of my splits to partially finance the purchase of a pair of KLF 30s didn't work out so I think I'll keep it, look for another single split to use as center and use the pair I already have for rears giving me five LaScalas with my very respectable Pioneer HMP 100's for surround. All I have to do is find a single split. Thoughts or suggestions as always will be appreciated. Thanks for the interest to all who responded and expressed interest and congrats to all th buyers and sellers who got what they wanted! Enjoy, Larry in chattanooga
  20. Could I interest you in something smaller and perhaps more appealing to the female eye? I would like to propose a partial trade for Synergy F1's in black and in great condition. Just asking, Larry in Chattanooga.
  21. I would like to find a new loving home for only one of my two split La Scala's purchased from the second owner about two years ago. I was looking for a split to go between my pair of LSBL's and ended up with a pair. I am now ready to part with one in order to purchase a pair of KLF 30's advertised on the forum. The cabinets were stained by the original owner but i have found it to be easily removed with light sanding. Anyone reading this that has a need for a well cared for SPLIT or knows of anyone please help. I am truly motivated to sell this single unit before the 30's are gone so I will sell to anyone offering a good home for $500.00.
