  1. I didn't attempt to insult you, you'd know it if I did. I would leave no doubt. Being acquaintances with Jamie Jones and Sam Bee (both Canadian and from the same Toronto comedy scene I grew up in) and had many conversations with Lewis Black, last one 3 weeks ago, I'm well aware of Jon Stewarts moral compass which drove his decisions. Like I said earlier, I have been on the inside looking out for many years. It's a different perspective. I'm not silly enough to even attempt trying to change the way you perceive things coming out of your tv. Back to the music......
  2. Sounds more like cardiac, based on whats written here. CCU for observation.
  3. Opinions are like assholes...everyone thinks it's just their own that doesn't stink. Jon was not on CBS this morning. it was a Nov interview he did at last minute with his good friend Mo. "I lost a lot of sleep on that one. He didn't!" Not a sentence a corporate ***** you're claiming him to be would say being upset he didn't force elaboration from Rumsfeld. You really need to cherrypick with a little more thought, to fit your narrative of a corporate shill and lackey.
  4. That's how I perceive Murdoch , Roger Ailles and Fox along with the Kochs, but I'm Canadian, so what do I know....just for fun
  5. The very first question he asked Rumsfeld was, "Why did you lie about why we went into Iraq?". In fact, they spent the ENTIRE interview on that ONE topic simply because Rummy kept trying to dodge the question and *refused* to either accept responsibility or feign incompetence. Kristol is Kristol, as linear a thinker you'll ever find. Rice interview was an educational one that brought the mindset of the Bush administration. http://thedailyshow.cc.com/extended-interviews/gul4pe/condoleezza-rice-extended-interview "Or do you not know how the TV business works? Lol" I did stand up comedy for many years, worked tv and film for 20yrs on production side, hence sat in on hundreds of production meetings. I well versed in how the entertainment industry works, both in front of, and behind the camera. My opinions (not trying to persuade or change a perception, I recognize futility when it's staring me in the face) come from the inside looking out. If you have an IMDB page the length of mine then I'll bow to the knowledge base that forms the opinion.. People who think politics is ruthless never set foot in the entertainment industry. Being interviewed by Stewart became unavoidable, profiting from it was a nice benefit to being confronted by a well prepared difference of opinion. Even some of the left wing interviews were not all 'softball questions'.
  6. As a Canadian, I'm already a minority and have been ok with it.... Not 'dumb' humour, simple humour. Nothing Jon Stewart has done in his career has been dumb, well except "Death to Smoochy" which I hate to admit I worked on as well. Dumb humor. Political humor can cause changes (smart), or it can be benign and harmless (dumb). JS was the harmless type, JS loved everyone, which made his humor pointless. He brought and embraced wealthy WASP values to his audience. can you provide an example of where smart political humour brought real change? I highly doubt Jon would have the incentive to bring "wealthy WASP values to anything., did you even watch the show or know anything about the man? George Carlin did actually interact with opposing views of his all the time for references. Why do you think he could mock institutions and ideas he disagreed with so eloquently. <<<<he did his homework, another trait that made Stewart unavoidable for people he mocked to gravitate to be interviewed by him. Oh and book sales was the guests motivation, not Stewarts for his adversaries he interviewed. All in fun....lol
  7. Never saw it but liked his cameo in Half Baked--Now there is a movie to be proud of! Of course, I really admire him for doing Rosewater and think doing it was an incredibly insightful and meaningful gesture...That said, I haven't seen it yet. I worked a few days on Half baked and more impressed with Chappelle at that time. Rosewater is worth the watch, Stewart did a very good job of directing and telling the story that needed to be told.

  9. nope. But they get them up there with contact info before they get deleted. I had a friend buy one.
  10. Guys try to do that up here in Ontario all the time, selling downloaded music library's transferred over to external hard drives and reselling them.
  11. For years Stewart was said to have done a comedy show about the news. But this is dead wrong. For 16 yrs, Jon did an honest news show with integrity. The purpose of which was to keep viewers well informed (whether you agreed with his point of view or not). The reason why Jon and his cohorts were so funny is because they were never shy at pointing out just how ridiculous most currents events topis really are at face value.
  12. Use a dry Magic Eraser or use it in combo with water and a little dishsoap?

  16. The sub looks like it might be xw-500d, cant tell with reciever n top. I think they are rf62's. Sweet deal for someone
  17. Canadian Garage sale section would be nice too
  18. I have the hd300 series I used in an old set up. Go with the 3 same fronts and get a SPL app for phone and level match them to MLP. They need it to show off what they can do. But in here you're gonna get "bigger is better a lot!" and for good reason! Good luck with set up!
  19. When I worked in emergency at Downtown Toronto hospital the nurses got me to take polaroids (yes showing the age there) of teenagers after giving them activated charcoal and syrup of ipecac. They looked pathetic. We gave the pictures to the parents when they came and picked up their little angels.Typing this from treatment center I am in charge of this weekend. 34 beds and it's a revolving door here. Reading the comments here and it really seems the US drug policy is archaic. All the best to your brother twelveblocks!! I heard in Canada you can get Tylenol 1s and 222's over the counter at any pharmacy. Is that true or an urban myth? T1's Yes with maximum 8mg over the counter, but need to get from pharmacist without prescription.

  21. I believe you are thinking of Oxy Neo that couldn't be crushed. The bikers had it solved chemically to break it down to be snorted within a month of it being released a few yrs ago. The original Oxycontin is still available here. Highly regulated. Alcohol is the most dangerous to detox from, not the worst, but certainly the most dangerous without medical supervision. I've detoxed off all of them, except fentanyl and Ketamine.
  22. "addiction leads to behavior problems" The reverse is also true based on social environment.
  23. What if your dog started shaking and puking? What do you call that? PAWS
  24. Yes, "addiction" has such a negative connotation that I can see why a person might want to use the word, "dependence," and say, "Whatever 'dependence' is, it's not addiction." I see the two as the same... (but actually think "hooked" ought to be a special category. lol Hooked is anywhere past that fine line, call it whatever you want to society. It's treated differently then a dependency though if properly assessed . Proper assessment is where GP doctors lack the skill set. <<< hence the need for certain regulations or referrals.
  25. "Addiction is about behavior... Dependence is about biology" <<< actually more like Pathophysiology But says it all in a nutshell. Derek "addiction and dependency overlap" they actually don't, they transfer categories, but it is a fine line if, or when, crossed eventually. Last 10 yrs here working as ICADC addiction counselor and running an aftercare program. It seems the difference of opinions written here is solely reliant on perceptions due to experience. Great discussion guys! Keep it civil if others don't see your perception of issues.
