    AVR or Amp

On my RF-7s, they came alive when I added the XPA-5. They seem to love the extra power that the receiver, or my UPA-5 were giving them. I would go power amp.
  2. Good grief...what the heck is going on with Klipsch. Still curious how an XPA-5 could have overblow that driver. I recently picked up an XPA-5 for the front 3 and two side surrounds. All I can say is wow. What a heck of an amp. Hopefully the RS-52s are treating you good. []
  3. Now that I can turn off the AMP that has the main 5.1, if I leave the AMP for heights and Rear Surrounds on...holy cow there is a lot of info on the heights. I had to go check to make sure my mains were off. This may be different depending on your processing. I had mine set up through audiseey, with Dobly PII2.
  4. I dd noice last night that the RC-7 jumper has a crimp in the positive end. I'm going to try new jumpers, or bi-wire next.
  5. It was doing it before the Mod. I figured maybe there was something wrong with the crossover, so that figured partly into my reasoning to have them rebuilt.
  6. Not sure where teh issues are...I have replaced the following. Tried New wire between the AMP and center...still clips. Hooked up center channel info to RF-7..Still Clips Replaced Reciver...Still Clips Tried DVD in mulitple sources...still Clips Replaced Amplifier...No longer clipping. I'll be doing somore more tests tonight. It occurs to me that I've never posted pics of my system on here. I should probably snap a few.
  7. Currently the RC-7 is set 2 db's higer than the RF-7s. I'm beginning to think a lot of it is the signal. For example, there is a certain spot on the DARK KNIGHT Dvd where a copy yells on his Radio for everyone to go down to avoid hitting a burning firetruck. Part of his voice always seems to "clip", where it is played on the Oppo or on the PS3.
  8. I'm not clipping a ton, only on the center channel, and only on certain vocal parts. Since the new amp, It has reduced it like 90 percent. I thought maybe it was a problem with the crossover, but that doesn't appear to be the case.
  9. I don't think an XPA-2 will be possible. I'm running out of room in my homemade rack. Besides, the speakers are as loud as I would ever want them. The room is 12x40. I have a shipment of cables from Monoprice coming today to hook up the UPA-5 to the heights and Back Surrounds. I'm sure they will be better off running with the UPA, than off the receiver.
  10. WOW! The music has impact...even at low DB levels. I was getting clipping on the center channel, but now have none with the XPA. I have moved the UPA to rear surround and front height duty. I have read some reviews that say the UPA-5 and XPA-5 are nearly identical, well, obviously not. Although there might be something wrong with the UPA-5. It didn't sound that bad. I just think the RF-7's and RC-7 suck down a lot of power.
  11. You couldn't give away RF-63s on this board, about two months ago.
  12. I have my used Denon AVR-2311 for sale. If you want to check out my add in the Garage Sale section. The only downside is it is only HDMI 1.3, so no 3D video. If 3D isn't your thing though, it could work out for you. I is a great receiver, I would still be using it, but I upgraded to the Denon 4810. []
  13. Scratch that...it looks like you can get these for 235 new, but without the RF system. I would go 210 shipped. Paypal and shipping fees included.
  14. Some of the ones without the RF ending on ebay today between 250-275. I would go 280 shipped. Paypal and shipping fees included. (As long as you don't live in AK or HI.
  15. Let me know if you find a paint that matches. I would be interested in doing this as well.
  16. I used the 1100 for a while, and while it had its good points...I just didn't dig the touchscreen. It was easy to program and use with my equipment. (Minus the PS3), but it did work with the Oppo. (Only needed the PS3 for games) Mine has the RF system too. I'm trying to sell the whole system if you are interested...
  17. Just to clairify, my RB35's did not have the hole in the bottom, i just installed a small security screw into the bottom. While we are talking about RB35s, mine don't have the Keyhole mounts on the backs either...even though the klipsch website says they have them. There isn't even a trace of old holes where the mounts might have been.
  18. I have ever speaker on my system set to small. The crossoves are set to 40hz...anything below that the subs take over...I really like the sound when doing this. Then again...I came from the world of car audio before this...so I'm a bit of a bass head.
  19. I am currently using those stands to hold up my RB-35s in the back surround location. Those stands rock. Easy to put up and use. They don't tilt too far down, so keep that in mind. Placement is an issue when you need to point speakers a certain direction. (In my case, tilted down towards the listener. I couldn't go as far up as I would have liked. I had to keep the tweeter at ear level with the couch). I did install a small security screw into the bottom of each speaker...I'm not sure it was needed, but did it anyway.
  20. Hes been working on mine for a week now. They should be back any day. I can't wait to hear them! []
  21. I have had three ED subs. 2 A7-350 and 1 A5-350. I have never had any chuffing issues. However, I have always had a great location and room. The gain on each of the amps are around 1/4 up, and I can still pull 110+ DB on testing with the rest of the system. I've met Alex, as I'm only about 30 minutes from their location here in Iowa. He is currently building me another A7-350. Its soon to be 9.3 []
  22. I would love to know what Alex over at ED thinks about the sub location. That looks friggin awesome.
  23. I am trying to sell my mint condition RS-52s with orginial boxes now for over a week at 400 plus shipping. Now granted, I haven't had pictures of them up due to my laziness. They are in mint conditon though, they only came off the walls so the RS-62s could go up. If you were interested I will take pictures of them tonight when I get home.
  24. If you decide to go with the RS-52s, I have set for sale. They are in mint condition, hung high on the wall. I upgraded to RS-62 to better match my new RF-7s. Send me a PM if you are interested.
