  1. Still trying to figure out how to post more than one pic in one post
  2. No new pics in a while thought I would add a few new ones I took[]
  3. Every set up is different so the best thing to do is try different set ups and see what sounds best. Keep in mind 20-20,000 Hz is a huge band so 20-80 Hz is a tiny part even though it’s the lowest and hardest part. The value to me of a good floor standing speaker isn’t to just go lower than a smaller speaker. They create large clean sound effortlessly compared to a smaller bookshelf regardless if there is a sub involved (quality of speakers being equal). A small box will always be working harder to keep up with a bigger speaker, and not for just 20-80 Hz. So for a bose cube to output 85dbs (even with a subs help under 80 hz) it will be working way harder than a rf-82 would set up the same way.
  4. Great upgrade that all your speakers will benefit from. One recommendation is to have a separate power outlet for the amp. I got bad loop/ground noise when I ran mine to the same outlet as everything else. I have read others with the same issues with emo amps. They have the amp gain set pretty high and you can’t adjust it. Add in super sensitive speakers and you will hear any noise. I fixed mine by running an extension cord to a different wall outlet.
  5. I think with the grills on the black ash looks a little nicer. But with the grills off I give the nod to the cherry. And I like the cherry in peoples pics better than the color on the klipsch sight (the color is different).
  6. That sounds awesome they could have 3 ports in back and on the midrange driver they could use the black cone style. The only problem is they would probably end up costing 1999 each lol []
  7. What would be cool is if they came out with a rf-64 and used the same stuff from the rc-64ii in a small floor standings style.
  8. Another thing to keep in mind Jason was the upgrade in sound u got when you bought the rc-64ii. The rf-7ii is that same upgrade and more.[]
  9. Good point Jason most people that go out and spend that kind of money will probably try and justify it. They cost 3x more than the rf-82 and even though they are better top to bottom in build, and sound that doesn’t mean its value is good for everyone. This is the only $3200 speakers I have ever owned so I have no idea how they would compare to other speakers at that cost. And I think that goes both ways if someone has never owned $3200 speakers it would be tuff to judge the value. Having a friend working at ultimate electronics was huge for me and saved me about 40% on klipsch. If you asked me 5 years ago if I would ever pay that for speakers I would have just laughed.
  10. Its hanging on a stand connected to the entertainment center. I wouldn’t put anything on top of it.[]
  11. I just bought the XPA-2 this weekend, before that I was using an XPA-3 and XPA-5. The XPA-3 was my first amp and really brought new levels to my system using it for fronts and center and letting my receiver power the surrounds, a great step up for a receiver. This was a very nice improvement to the front 3 and I was also surprised that my surrounds also were improved quite a bit with the receiver no longer needing to power the front 3. Next I bought my Onkyo PR-SC885 processor so I added the XPA-5. I used the XPA-3 for the fronts the XPA-5 for surrounds, since I had the extra channel I bi-amped the center using both the XPA-3 and XPA-5. The PR-SC885 was a great step up from the receiver and adding the XPA-5 again really brought life to my surrounds. I really did not expect much from the bi-amping but since I had the extra amp channel I figured why not. I had always used the XPA-3 for the fronts for 2 channel since the XPA-3 and XPA-5 are nearly identical I think having the fewer unused channels would be best for 2 channel stereo. I just got the XPA-2 and haven't calibrated the system yet since trading it for the XPA-3 I will this coming weekend, so I can't really make any fair judgement for HT yet. For 2 channel I think the XPA-2 was a definite improvement bringing better separation, imaging and an overall improvement in music quality, I am very happy with what the XPA-2 did for 2 channel music. All 3 are excellent amps, I think the XPA-3 and XPA-5 are great amps and have been really pleased with them both. The XPA-2 is definitely a nicer amp and it clearly shows this for 2 channel. All 3 of my amps have been dead silent with no hiss or background noise. When nothing is playing I can turn the volume up to the maximum and put my ear in the horn or woofers I can barely hear any noise they are extremely quiet. Congrats on the new amp! After you get some time in with it I would l would love to hear your thoughts (pm me or a small review if you don’t mind). I’m about 95% blu rays most is movies and some is live music.
  12. Well I got mine from ultimate electronics that are unfortunately out of business (had a friend that worked there). I would say your best bet is finding a dealer who will deal with you on price. Places like best buy probably won’t do much less than 10% off. Internet companies like vanns have sales that probably can save you closer to 25-30%. I think I read somewhere that they had a buy one get one free deal a few months ago (that would be cool). So try and be patient and aggressive at the same time. When you find a good deal jump on it. As far as getting it right the first time I agree with that 100%. Great advise that will save you hundreds or even thousands of dollars. It’s always so easy in this hobby to talk yourself into the cheaper model (I’m so guilty). But that doesn’t mean you have to buy the flagship model to get it right. The rf-82 set up sounds very good and honestly is more than a lot of people need. Not only do you have to spend more on the fronts but then you need the flagship center, and rears. Then when you get a sub you will probably want to get a good one to keep up. And don’t forget about the amp you will want to power all those huge speakers lol. The rf-7ii will be a great starting point and if you have the patience and the budget you really can’t go wrong.
  13. The XPA-2 is designed that it can be bridged, it has the wiring directions for bridging and a bridge switch on the back of the amp. I think the XPA-2 is the only (at least current model) Emotiva amp which can be bridged. As for using any Emotiva multi-channel amp for 2 channel stereo, it is fine to do so as long as not used under extremely loud conditions which could try to use more power from the unused channels and put more power to the channels being used than they were designed for (but this would really be cranking the amp to cause any damage). But under normal conditions it will be fine to use any Emotiva multi-channel amp for 2 channel. You will get a cleaner sound and better separation using a 2-channel amp over a multi-channel amp for 2 channel stereo and even better yet using two completely separate mono block amps. Rich guy do you hear a big difference in sound xpa-2 vs xpa-5? I was thinking of getting one but I’m pretty happy with just the 5. Your thoughts
  14. The room is 12x26x8 and it looks pretty packed with so much on that front wall. Both those subs are huge and the rf-7ii is pretty big as well. I would really like to have my front set up like yours with just the center, subs, and fronts. I’m kind of waiting tell I decide if I’m going to go projector or a 70+ LCD/led. If you put the rf-7ii in your room I think you would definitely be happy with your upgrade. It’s not really louder it’s just bigger, cleaner, and more refined. I was a little worried about the room being too small when I was waiting for the speakers to come. I did a lot of reading and some people had said they needed a big room to breathe. That might be true because I haven’t had them in a big room but from the first movie I watched I have had a permanent smile on my face. We all want to love what we buy, but I would be one of the first people on here saying don’t waste your money if I didn’t feel these speakers had that next level and worth the extra money. http://www.blu-ray.com/community/gallery.php?member=Reference_head
  15. Value is always a big debate you could probably go back and read other posts on this subject. Your ears and your wallet are the only ones that can really answer that. I owned the entire rf-82 set up and loved it. However being an audio junkie and moving out of an apartment and into a house I wanted more. I got a great deal on the rf-7ii set up plus I had a friend who was ready to buy my whole rf-82 set up. The sound is night and day to my ears. Rf-82 is a good ht system and I was never unhappy with it just wanted something better.
  16. Both receiver and sub would be a pretty big upgrade. The sub would be what I would start with then the receiver then the rears. I would pass on the klipsch sub though. You can get a better sub for your money imo. I have owned klipsch subs and imo they are nice but not the best value. If you could give some info on your budget I can point you to a few places. You want to use the surround outputs the surround rear is for 7.1.
  17. My comment was “more than anything “never said just for men in their 30s. Even Michel bay said he felt he needed to make sure more than anything” that generation was happy with the movies”. They want as many fans as possible but all movies have a certain genre they are going for. I watched an interview with the writers and they said they same thing bay said. I also collect new and old transformers (I’m a nerd) and I agree there is always some of that. But a lot of those movie toys are being bough by guys in there 30s (like me) as wells kids. Also I wouldn’t bring a 13 year old to that movie. But that’s just me not saying someone’s wrong if they do.
  18. No I don’t think so I’m pretty sure I would have noticed.
  19. It’s not a kid’s movie it gets really dark, and a lot of people die. (There was sexuality is the first one too) I loved the movie but I’m a huge fan of anything transformers. I have read mixed reviews but I think if you like transforms you will love this movie. I saw it in 3d and the 3d parts are ok but I’m going to go see it again in 2d. I thought the story was the best of the 3 with some great twists where you can’t help but say wow. Keep in mind this movie is made for men in their 30s more than anything. Being that we are the ones in the 80s that played with them the most.
  20. If I do that on the otherside they will go up the stairs LOL!! close as I can put them is about 1-2 feet behind me. I may iuse A ned pair of RB-61II instead. Then I would go with floor stands.
