  1. I think speaker placement is key and this guy explains it nice. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8fFRbj8rpCo
  2. I'm using 2 QSC DCA3022. Compared a QSC to a Parasound A21, the Parasound was sold and bought a second QSC to power my subs. Replaced fans by quieter ones.
  3. The Jubscalas sounded incredible, actually never heard anything like that before, also due to the kind help of @Chris A So I had to go back to the stock La Scala II, too bad, I realize this....
  4. Update: The K402s went to France and the Radian Be drivers found a new home in Austria. Thank you for looking. Wim
  5. Update: The K402s found a new home in France. The Radian Be drivers are still available: €1950 inc shipping in Europe.
  6. Forgot to mention, sorry for that. I edited first post.
  7. @Droogne was the first I contacted. Unfortunately he was not interested. Thank you for mentioning.
  8. I have a pair of K402s for sale. I live in Belgium, Europe. So I guess it will probably be best to have them sold to someone in Europe, as to keep shipping costs to a minimum and avoid customs, TAV, ... The 402s come complete, inc. horns, stands, and 2 pair of drivers: 1) Klipsch K-69-A 2) Radian 950 Be PB, Beryllium diaphragms, 4" voice coil, 2" exit, Neodymium, 8 ohm I bought these drivers new on sep. 17. They were in use for +/- 120hrs, they are actually just broken in. Always used in our living room. Original packaging available, price is €3500 + shipping. Reason for selling = WAF 😭
  9. Hello, Belgium calling!😀 Here's my top 3: 1. Miles Davis - Kind of Blue 2. Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms 3. Bruce Springsteen - Born in the USA
  10. I don't think you can really go wrong with each model you mentioned. But here's my 2 cents: If you use or plan on using horn loaded mains, then I'd build myself something horn loaded, a Tuba HT or a cinema F20. Horn loaded mains mean horn loaded subs. Keep in mind a horn is usually a bit more difficult to build. If your main speakers have direct radiating bass drivers (reference series) then I'd go for a direct radiating sub (or two 😀)
  11. I use an MC 275 on a pair of LS2s, and I was actually thinking of doing something similar. Maybe moving up to a MC 462. I'm not sure yet, what do you think of your move?
  12. It seems 2018 can't go wrong anymore for us. We replaced our Parasound A21 by a McIntosh MC 275 and a few weeks ago the P 5 was replaced by a C2600.
  13. Upgrade fever: replaced our Parasound P5 pre by a Mac C2600
  14. Horn loaded mains mean horn loaded subs. I had a pair of R 115 SWs with my LSIIs. Man, was I happy when I got them sold! I built myself a pair of Tuba HTs (Low profile version) and never looked back at a direct radiator to go along with La Scalas!
  15. Yep, the Dayton RSS390HF-4 is the recommended driver. I built two 24" Low Profile Tubas last year. Bass Unlimited!
  16. Upgrade fever: replaced the Parasound A21 by a McIntosh MC 275. Tubes on highs & solid state on bass.
  17. Yes. My Lo amp is wired directly to the woofers. HP at 60 Hz and LP at 400 Hz. The hi amp is delayed with 0,8ms. The load on this amp is reduced by a HP at 225 Hz. Another option is removing the tweeter and replacing it at the back of the top cab. Though, I heard others say that doesn't improve much. If I find some time, I"m sure willing to check it out, as it can easily be reversed.
  18. We bi-amp our LS2s. DSP is a Xilica XP 4080. A Mac MC 275 powers the MF/HF section, and a QSC DCA series powers the bass section. I think bi-amping is really cool because you can tune the speaker to your personal taste (like tubes on Hi and SS on Lo) and time align bass and MF horn. When you learn how to use REW it gets even cooler. Then you can correct the speaker's in room response.
  19. OK, I see that your amp doesn't have balanced outputs, so I think you use RCA to XLR adapters. My best guess is that this is the source of your problem.
  20. Which speakers exactly give a problem? The ones that are connected directly to an amp or the ones that go through a processor? Otherwise you'll have to expand this a bit, as I can't figure out how everything is connected.
  21. Agreed. I'd add a separate 2 ch power amp to power those 7s.
  22. It is most likely you blow a speaker when it is underpowered. When this is the case and you crank it up to loud levels, the amp will start to distort (clip), and distortion is actually something speakers don't like at all. I don't see any problem bi-amping with the AVR you mentioned, as long as you don't go up to really stupid loud levels. Note that the Denon you mentioned, puts out 95 Watts/ch with only 2 channels in use. If you use all of its channels, this number will decrease significantly. When you connect the rest of the speakers you mentioned, you 'll see the Denon break into a sweat rather soon. This is where it gets tricky as for damaging speakers. I'd recommend adding a separate 2 ch power amp to power your 2 biggest speakers, this will relief your AVR a lot, and make the rest sound cleaner.
  23. Yeah, Chris helped us too. I'm still trying to figure out how he came to his results based upon the measurements I sent him. The only thing I can say is that our LSIIs sing like never before since Chris' results are loaded in the Xilica. @Chris A, big thanks! Wim
  24. I saw some guys selling their Xilica XP 4080, because they are upgrading to an XD model. I know that the difference between the two models is that the XD models have FIR filters. Did some research on FIR filters but I think it is still a bit over my head. So, without going too much into technical detail, is there an audible difference between the two (XP vs. XD) that is worth the trouble of upgrading? I use an XP 4080 on a pair of bi-amped La Scala IIs and a pair of THT subs, should it make sense to use an XD model on this setup? Wim
