  1. Both are DIY from a schematics, I built the enclosures (Lowes sheet steel and hardwood floor scraps for sides) and designed the layouts. On the left is a preamp based on 6N6P tubes and on the right a 3wpc amp based on 6E5P tubes. I didn't design the circuit, Doug DeYoung at bugamps is the circuit designer. He gave me his emblems to put on the gear. My Emotiva PT1 and BasxA300 have been in the closet since I completed this a few months ago.
  2. Mullard M8100/6AK5, 2 tubes $25 shipped via USPS in the US. I thought I sold all of my tubes that I don't have a use for but I just found these in my tube stash. I bought quite a few of them from Langrex in 2018. I sold the amp that used them (Yaqin MS-20L), and thought I sold all of these M8100s. I have no way to test them so they are sold as is, I know they worked when I had the amp but I sold that 4 years ago. They probably have between 100-200 hours on them, maybe less. These were extras, I know I used them to make sure they worked just not sure how long. They are NOT a matched pair. PayPal only.
  3. Sorry, I didn't get a notification of your post but I have a sale pending, if it doesn't work out we could meet.
  4. I got my first dose in December and my second in January. No side effects but my wife said my nose was running a bit more after the first dose than it normally does. I didn't notice it though.
  5. Yaqin MS-20L integrated amplifier, purchased new in 2011. Located in central Alabama. 4 - EL34 output tubes. 8 - 6J1/6AK5/M8100 input/phase splitter tubes. 4 RCA type inputs which are selectable on the front or with the remote. 4ohm and 8ohm taps for speaker connections. 50 watts per channel in Ultralinear mode and 25 watts per channel in Triode mode. The output tube bias is easily adjustable without disassembling the amp. Bias adjustment tool included. Remote control included. I have 2 years in electronics school and passed the associate Certified Electronics Technician exams and state licensing exams in the 70s. I made the following upgrades to this amplifier. 1)The motorized factory volume control was replaced with a Blue ALPS potentiometer, which is not motorized. 2)A Blue ALPS potentiometer was also placed into the negative feedback circuit (NFB) to allow adjustment of the gain and tone. 3)Coupling capacitors replaced with Obbligato Gold capacitors. The following tubes are included: 4 - Svetlana Winged C EL34WC date codes 2005 and 2007, these are genuine Winged C not the new reissues. 4 - Mullard M8100 phase splitter tubes. 4 - Voskod 6J1P-EV input tubes. (This is $200+ worth of tubes) The owners manual and schematics are included. I took photos with and without the "cage" on it. I can take more photos on request. The other items in the photos ARE NOT INCLUDED. Thanks for looking! I am going a different route for my audio system and am selling this amplifier. I will be happy to demo it for serious buyers. I would prefer not to ship this as it weighs 45 pounds but would be willing to at the buyer's expense. I would also be willing to meet, I am in central Alabama but travel to the coast and Indiana often.
  6. Never met him but bought a lot of stuff and spoke on the phone with him. Smart and honest, I could always rely on a straight answer or recommendation from him. Very sad.
  7. PM sent (if the current sale falls through).
  8. These came from my 81' La Scalas and are working perfectly. I upgraded to Crites CT120s and don't plan on going back. I put the new wires on a few years ago when I replaced the wiring in the speakers (I was a CET in the 70s and have soldering skills). I can send more pix if needed. $120 shipped with insurance in the continental US, PayPal only.
  9. Bump and price drop. I gotta get these out of my house! $80 cash local pickup with cabinets Or $80 + shipping for drivers only, PayPal.
  10. I did some searching and couldn't find an answer to this. If it will work I would prefer to just use the K-77 horns. Currently I have K-77M tweeters on 1981 La Scalas.
  11. I bought this matched quad of JJ 6CA7 from a tube dealer about one year ago or less. I put them in my amp for 2 or 3 hours to verify that they worked and then put them up in my tube storage closet. I am thinning out some tubes and decided to sell these. $60 shipped in the continental USA. PayPal only. Thanks
  12. I decided to reinstall the drivers and replaced the wiring, I cannot ship them but can meet within a reasonable distance. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MvebImJ4A5s&feature=youtu.be
  13. I pulled these from my 1987 KG4s when I upgraded to the titanium tweeter diaphragms about 10 years ago. A couple of years later I sold the KG4s and have no use for these diaphragms. They were working fine when I pulled them and they test fine with a DVM. They have been stored in the plastic boxes since. I am selling them for $30 shipped in the continental US. PayPal only. Thanks!
  14. For sale, two ElectroVoice Wolverine ST12 speakers. Both have had the capacitor replaced with Dayton 3uF polypropylenes. Both are fully functional and have DCRs of 7.8 and 8.1 ohms. One has a potentiometer to adjust the tweeter level and the other has a switch. I made a youtube video with them hooked up to my tube amp/turntable with no cabinets. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4zaT_9LoUU I have cabinets for them but they are too large and heavy to ship, so I am selling the drivers only. For local pickup the buyer can take the cabinets also. They are located in central Alabama. I have more pix I can send. $200 shipped in the continental USA, price is firm. PayPal only.
  15. I remember seeing a post from Al K a long time ago where it was recommended to change the 2uf output capacitor in the AA crossover tweeter output to 6uf and disconnect the zener diodes. Has anyone tried this capacitor change? If so what effect did it have? Thanks.
  16. Without seeing a schematic that is a little difficult to answer. You may find that some tube brands will have more of an effect in one area than another. The preamp you have will benefit from having good quality tubes in either position. Some people think that a tube in a cathode follower position is not that important sonically, but it is. In general gain stage tubes are more susceptible to problems that non-gain stages, but again it is very circuit dependent. The only way to answer your question definitively is for you to experiment. I would pick one side and give it a go, then later swap the left and right to see the difference, if any.
  17. Very likely, he had those big bass bins but did have a habit of REALLY cranking and turning the bass up. He kept a supply of replacement drivers in stock. This is what he had for sale when I bought them. He drilled holes in the bottom and hung them upside down from the ceiling.
  18. I was able to slip my phone in there and get a pic.
  19. The suspense is killing me so I am opening it up, stay tuned....
  20. When i posted these pix I had already closed the dog houses. I did a re-wire and noticed the woofers, the one that was not marked on the back i did not have to remove to solder new wires on, so I didn't. The other I had to take out, and of course it is a replacement as indicated by the R on the magnet. It looks to me like someone did some work on the dust cap (see photo) maybe the voice coil was replaced?? This pic is of the K-43. I bought these from a skating rink (5 years ago) that went out of business and I know the guy replaced blown drivers from time to time. Considering the application I would have thought that they would be K-43 but who knows. This is going to bug the crap out of me until I open them up again. They are so heavy I have a very hard time flipping them over.
  21. Sorry, I really can't get any better pix right now.
  22. I bought the 1981 La Scalas about 5 years ago. I knew one had a woofer replaced. You can see in the photo it is a K-43E. The other speaker's woofer does not have a model number on it. Is it a K-43E also, or a K-33E? Thanks, David
