I'm still tweaking my new HT setup and did some playing around with the Large/Small settings. The only difference that I heard was less volume of lower frequency signals, but still some substantial output at 40Hz. Here's what I did (KLF30 upfront, with Denon 5800, which apparently has a fixed 80Hz cross-over): Speaker setup fronts:large (subwoofer on, but physically powered off). Run AVIA left front tones from 100Hz->20 Hz. I saw quite a bit of difference in SPL readings +/-15 dB across that range (room acoustics?). At 40-45 Hz, output was 85 dB. Speaker setup fronts:small (subwoofer on, but physically powered off). Run AVIA left front tones from 100Hz->20 Hz. At 40-45 Hz, output had only dropped to 75 dB. I guess I was expecting a more dramatic roll-off of the lower frequencies, no?? The reason for configuring the Denon w/sub on was to make the conditions as identical as possible - it wouldn't let you configure small fronts without a sub. Thanks, Darren

I've been researching various HT options for the past few months (including lurking around this place!), and well, what can I say - I just ordered a Klipsch system!!! Managed to listen to KLF-20's in my listening room (16x24) and they were fantastic! Since then, I've had the chance to hear KLF-20's and RF-5's side by side. Overall, I liked the KLF-20's better - and with the close-out prices, they can't be beat!!! (Maybe this testing was moot, since I had planned to get either the KLF30 if I went with Legends, or the RF-7s if I went reference). So, I just ordered the KLF-30's for my front, KLF C-7 for center, and had expected to get the KLF-10's for the rears, but they were all gone - so I got a pair of KLF-20's for the rear!! Now, the question is what do I drive them with?? I had planned on going with the Marantz SR-19EX. Then I thought I'd upgrade to the Marantz AV-9000/MM-9000 separates. But then I'd seen so many convincing reviews of the Denon AVR-5800 (audioreview.com, stereophile, and SoundStage Reviewers choice). I'm confused!! I'm currently expecting to use the system 75% for music, 25% HT. I'm looking for something to 'mellow' out the brightness of the horns. Don't get me wrong - I love the in-your-face nature of the Klipsch, but I don't want to increase it with the electronics... Thanks, Darren

I've got a similar situation: I'm trying to (quickly) get my hands on a system with KLF-30s for the fronts, KLF-C7 for center, and can't decide on KLF-10 or RF-3 for the rears. I'm thinking the KLF10 should be a better match for the fronts, yes? And I don't think I can use a more typical rear speaker, because side-wall mounting isn't practical. I expect to mount/place the rears behind the listener, in the corners of the room, toed in... Thanks, Darren
