  1. I dont think building your own 5.1 or 2.1 for that matter is really worth it. If you consider that the system will be your first build, the system would also be an entry level type, and who knows how it will sound. Why not just build off of an existing system.
  2. I dont know which 10 million dollar neighborhood you are from, but in my 10 million dollar 'hood, the only things that are $250,000 are our cars!
  3. I'd rather go the new and unused route. The 3802 is a good receiver, at least that is what most people say, but I have no first hand knowledge of it. In addition I'm looking for a smaller, less powerful, simple 5.1 amp. I know that in this price range and at this juncture in the A/V industry I would end up getting one or two extra channels, but they would go to waste. Not only do I not have the room for more speakers but I don't want any more than the 5.1 channels that I already have. I would really like a solid 5.1 amp with good connections, user interface, and an programmable remote.
  4. Forget it! Can't you recognize sarcasm. I was hoping the misspelling of identical would be caught. Or at least recognized by some users in the announcement header. Someone should write a spellcheck program for compilers and markup languages.
  5. This question primarily targets those with similar equipment. But others are also welcome to donate some copper. I've noticed than many like myself use rb5's as mains, rs3's, and an rc3. The latter two are new editions which I will de-virginize with the new receiver (I dont have one at all). I have yet to obtain a decent sub, so opinions on those would also be helpful. I'm looking for a receiver. My listening tendencies are 60% music, 35% movies, and 5% voices inside my head. Three receivers I had in mind are: Denon 28xx HK AVR430 Onkyo Integra DTR6.x All these receivers are about $500. Has anyone listened to one of these or all of these combinations. It may come down to personal preference, and I must say the HK looks f'n cool. I think HK also has the best remote.
  6. I'm sure the rc7's sound better and match well with other reference speakers. But for three times the price, its just not what I'm looking for right now. My room is about 15x15. With rb5's, an rc3, and rs3s and a soda can shaking 20 watt sub my sys is decent. Not to mention the rc7 might crush my 27" sony. With my major I'll probably end up in the silcon valley living in a 1 bedroom apt or studio. I can almost guarantee I'll have even less room then.
  7. I just bought the rc3s and rs3 from good guys. The rc3 was a great deal and the rs3 good. But I like the fact that they are new and from an authorized dealer. You can find them for a little less online. Whether used, at ebay or some online dealer. But you would also have to pay 20-30 bucks for shipping. I ended up paying 7 bucks in sales tax and walked out with it the same day. I haven't tried them out yet, only opened them up. I don't have an amp to run them on. So far I run my present RB5s off my computer and a little cambridge 20 watt 2 channel amp.
  8. How can I find out if I have an idenetical IP address. Do I right click on my computer in Windows XP. If I don't have one, where can I get one. It sounds really cool.
  9. The Good Guys are selling rc3-2 ($275 pair), rb3-2 ($375) and rc3-2 ($175). Prices are good until July 7 or so. I think that the Good Guys are California specific. You might be able to get them online but I doubt it, I checked and only found the newer model. Its a good deal so I'm going to buy the surrounds and center speakers. I can always return them If I don't like them or sell them later. They should match my Rb5-2's well. I would prefer to get the rc7's, and a pair of rp5's or rf7's and use my rb5's a surrounds so I may sell some of my gear for the price that I will get them at with CA tax if you are interested.
  10. Anyone know anything about AC Delco tube radios, car tube radios, or just tube stuff that can help me out? I've got an AC Delco, ID# 32mlb-5803 (I think) and need schematics or just plain info on it such as which connections go where, what tubes do I have, and the power requirement on it. Also can I convert this to a home tube amp?
  11. Want 4.1 sub/amp with or without sats. All you 5.1's can unload your old one if you want. Also need to find schematic for amplifier design (audio purposes)
