Thanks, I'm interested in buying used (both for budget and value - can't resist a good deal) but I'm also looking for somewhere to listen to new La Scalas in the Toronto area.
Forte IV's or Cornwall IV's are both options but it's hard to resist the urge to go up the line to the La Scalas. Ultimately it may depend on price and availability. But you're right, I need to do some more listening to get a better sense of their sound profiles. Is there one you prefer?
Toronto is definitely a big City and Ontario is huge, since you like the Forte , there are 4 versions , the Forte speakers have bass , lots of bass , , I would go for the Forte III since it was a very big improvement over the Forte II , it is crucial for you to audition older LS speakers , because the new AL-5 2 piece cabs do not sound anything like older 1 piece LS cabs .

. From what I can gather they will give me more of what I like about the Fortes.
Lascala and Forte speakers are completely different speakers , the Forte is a bass reflex cabinet with prominent bass , the LS is a folded horn speaker with much less bass , but the mids are more articulate due to a larger mids horn , I would recommend that you listen to a pair of Lascala and see if they please you , on the other hand , the Forte IV is a serious improvement over a Forte 1 .

I need to know which turntable to get my husband. He inherited a Harmon/Kardon duel cassett player and two Klipsch-Cornwall loudspeakers.
Type CBR
SERIAL:29W722
K-51-V
Technics make excellent turntables , whether new or used ..... as long as the TT is in good condition

I just got my Cinema 1200 demo unit from the store as i thought it would be a safer bet as its working.
My firmware seems to be the newest except my
SUR T, L, R is 79 not 82.
HDMI 42 not 43.
I have no idea what difference these numbers do.
Today I've noticed it won't turn on unless I unplug it. I think this can be resolved with a smart plug.
The issue I worry about is my bluetooth doesn't seem to work. When I hold the remote button for bluetooth, the display says pairing but I can't find the klipsch on my phone, nor my other devices. Anyone else have this issue? Casting seems to work fine though.
call kipsch tech support or email tech support , they can help you , no one on the forum can troubleshoot issues with the 1200 without real tools in a lab , VIP read the information posted online by klipsch

Thank you so much. The issue sadly is the size of the no lip. 2.5 inches
a dust cap is a dust cap , as long as it's the correct size

I’d like to clean up the board and components
keep the old wiring , clean up any corrosion on the Autoformers , check the zener diodes , the 245uH coil requires a brass screw .

the newer gear does sound better, more clear, more accurate bass, and so on, whether you're talking SS or tubes. So I hear, anyway, in the case of tubes. With SS, there's no doubt. The better the signal your speakers are feeding on, the better they sound, whatever age they might be.
you're very right , clean SS power is the way to go for the long haul , no tubes to replace ever , no adjustments needed , no tune-ups , no repairs for 10-20-30 years , the perfect example , with an excellent pre-amp , Yamaha A-S-1000 or 1100 or 1200 , and yes quality matters , a cheap SS amp will not do

JEM (I’ve read a lot about their parts)
JEM is a klipsch parts vendor , the installation is easy , do not twist wires or leads , do not use too much solder or heat , you can use crimping tools , the capacitor lead should not be compressed or twisted .

hard wood flooring would avoid allergens , carpets except Persian rugs also contain chemicals , wood remains cooler with excellent sound properties .

Does it matter if the cap has lips or not. Appears original had no lips but I can only seem to find ones with lips.
here are some dust caps /no lip on Ebay there are plenty of sizes available

the minor stains, scratches, etc. That's just visible evidence of history. I'm thinking a light sanding with 220 grit followed by 320 grit, vacuum, tack cloth and then oil. Any thoughts
the stains can be removed with a magic eraser , TRADE SECRET sold on amazon will remove the scratches and it will oil the veneer at the same time , the contents are coconut oil mixed with colorants , no VOC's , no chemicals ..... wipe it on to restore the natural finish , that 's it .

a replacement amplifier for the KSP -400 would have to power a 15 inch subwoofer + the drivers , you could turn the powered speakers into a passive speaker with a crossover , but you would need to power the subwoofers separately .

You all deserve a raise , the ongoing work by the klipsch Engineering Dept is impressive

$1500 maybe a better price
1500$ is ok , but you have to take into account that the crossovers will need a new klipsch capacitors kit
