Picture Thread: Exotic Original Veneers/Heritage Rarities...
OO1 replied to Chris Elm's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
I would love to wrap my Heresies with that. aint cheap for sure -the best places to buy venner are the big outlets that overstock a lot of the exotics - they eventually rebate it down and the deals are insane - I just dont know how long raw veneer can last in a warehouse setting - the last deal I saw was on Zebrawood - -
forgot to ask you - what is the DCR reading of these K-77 diaphragms -That's a good point. To be honest I got wrapped up in making a deal. Maybe Jim will check the ones he has and report back.On that note, Jim if you do and find a problem let me know via pm. I did stop down today, unfortunately the owner who makes the deals wasn't there. I do know there are 20 on the shelf, but the clerk working thought there might be more. To make sure we don't get any bad ones I will make it a point to test them. I will be stopping in Tuesday, hopefully reporting back with good news. if you are careful with the leads - they should be fine -

the T350 is a better K77 or T35 - goes higher - and projects further with a more precise sound image - however I dont know if the 16ohms tweeter can work in the Klipsch Khorn as they are designed for the 8ohms tweeter instead -

this dress was made by a color blind designer - blue or champagne , it is just awful as a styling dress - I dare any woman to wear one for more than an hour , it would be like wearing a billboard of a pretty bad taste -

windows 8.1 is a phenomenal software - and pretty hard to beat - it takes a bit of time to get used to it - plus it has a lot of win7 in it already as win 8 or 8.1 are upgrades win 7 software - win 7 being the one that changed it all -

Curious about this thread that was done about 6 years ago - the OP was using ERSE caps versus the Sonicaps in a Cornwall 2 crossover upgrade , can the OP enlighten us whether the ERSE are still up to the job -

I know this is an old thread - but how did you do on the K43 issue - just to advise you that I have 3 sets of the correct K43 - also if you are parting with the KSM speakers - I would be intersted in these as well - either way wins -tx

You can take care of records by always keeping them in their sleeves - with a good carbonfiber brush , that is enough - congratulations on the VPI Scout with an Ortofon 2m Black cartridge but as a newbie - you are asking for trouble with TT's - my advice is -keep the VPI as a great looking TT - BUT buy a USED Technics newer sl 1200 series with a set of precalibrated cartridges and have fun - these require no setup , a child could use these with no trouble - plus they deliver excellent sound - all these very expensive TT'S are very complex - I have several TT's and when I really just want to listen to vinyl , my Technics are my saviors - no wonder they sold millions and millions - OK, I don't get this, and disagree with some. So, you are saying to keep the VPI to look at? For real? And get a child's play (your term) Technics to actually use? What a waste. Spend thousands on a TT and cartridge to let it sit and play second fiddle. Wow, talk about disposable income.....You can't take care of vinyl simply by keeping them in their sleeves with a carbon fiber brush. Big mistake. Washing, drying, new sleeves work semi-wonders....One thing I do agree with is that some of the vintage Technics machines are pretty sweet (at their price point). I just got a completely restored SL-1400 MK2, with an Ortofon Blue, Emotiva Phono Preamp (on Lemonstring's recommendation) and I love it. I like your remark about the new sleeves -did you ever clean records with glue or is that not recommended - and yes the 1400mk2 is a marvel -

the simple idea of a budget home theatre system sounds wrong - you are better off - buying a good system worth say 3k$ that is used 4-5 years old but in great shape and pay the 1k$ - anything less is garbage - and will on the long run be worthlesss - the THX series from Klipsch are phenomenal and will last 20 years at least - I bought a set for 5k$ last year that was more the 20k$ 4 years ago - hooked them up , and was astounded - you cant expect a budget aystem to be anything other than low quality - that's why a lot of us buy the Heritage series - as they are super quality -
-
It has to do with Randy's quote about being something wrong with them because the price was low. My point was, just because the price is cheap doesn't mean that there is something wrong with the speakers. right on , just like a guy last year , who won this huge lottery - http://www.foxnews.com/us/2014/04/02/california-lottery-official-sole-winner-425m-february-powerball-jackpot-comes/ Oh yea, that was me. so what happened - did you buy them - if you did , send us some pictures
