the selling price  depends  on the condition of the speakers   , mint condition would fetch 1800$  , pictures would help a lot for us to give a  more exact value , veneer adds value ,  and so does the condition of the grilles  .

, the  extra set of grilles should be sold apart from the speakers as they can be worth a lot of money if they are in perfect  condition .  a pair of copper badges are now worth 125$  minimum , PWK pie badges 100$  , the grilles can be worth 4-500$ or even more if they are made of cane  . put it this way ,  the 2 sets of grilles can fetch close to 1k$ all by themselves

Ebay or Usaaudiomart.com would bring you the highest selling value  , Usaaudiomart does not have   fees , but Ebay does , the Forum Garage sale is free ,  Craigslist i s free  ,  insist on cash in hand  , beware of other forms of payment since there are scammers out there

    Hello,

I am a complete noob to Hifi audio world.

I need a simple, good audio solution for my approx.15m² (5m x 3m) [16ft x 10ft.] living room. So, the opposite walls will be approx. 2.5m (8.5ft) from the speaker's face. Floor to Ceiling is also 2.5m (8.5ft).

I mostly listen to Rock n Roll, Blues Rock music and Arabian Oud Instrumentals.

Living in Germany I found these offers, and now confused which one should I buy,

    1. r51m for €250 a pair

    2. rb61 ii for €378 a pair

    3. rp160m for €368 a pair

The prices are inflated in Germany , the RP-160M at €368 a pair were discounted  under 200$ a pair brand new  in the USA  last year , instead try to locate a used pair of RP-600M

Well designed equipment like my McIntosh C50 pre-amp has 8-band Tone Controls that can be bypassed on really good recordings and engaged when less than ideal recordings are played and this allow me to enjoy a wider range of recordings that otherwise I couldn’t.

tone controls that distort the audio signal from the original source.

a quality preamp does the contrary  ,  technology marches on ,   high end  preamps with Tone Controls are now mainstream

would essentially any passive preamplifier work well in my system?

no , ideally you need a quality preamp with separate tone controls to allow you to EQ  the sound   , I would recommend the Mark Levinson LNP-2  , one of the best preamps ever designed by Mark Levinson himself .

If I understand this correctly when watching a movie the Fortes will not be a perfect match to the center channel speaker, would it be that bad?

the Forte IV will do fine with the RC-64 center  plus you already own other speakers  with different timbres already and so far , this is un-noticeable ..the other solution would be to buy the RF-7 III instead of the Forte IV  to have a perfectly matched timbre up front   , the difference between both speakers is a tad more bass and a more detailed HF for the Forte IV   .
