  1. I almost expect the missing HF section to arrive *back* at my doorstep tomorrow...seems UPS can't pull their head out long enough to figure out where it goes. I will be in contact with them tonight to start the claim process. Hope it turns out well Schu, I will pm you later.
  2. Pictures of before, look and weep as they are now..
  3. Sorry I am late to this party, or should I call it a wake? I was away for a professional seminar this weekend and am just now catching up.. .I am just about as sick as Schu and the rest of you . I know I haven't been active on this forum much since joining, but I have been buying and occasionally selling stereo gear online for quite a while. I am shocked..sent in the original boxes, reinforcement and packing..and still arrive like this. I am so sorry Schu, you and I will have some private messaging to do indeed. For the good of the forum, yes absolutely there were many pictures taken while for sale, pictures of the boxes as UPS picked them up..*dateable by my iPhone camera stamp*..and they do include serial #'s for both speakers. Yes, they were insured and I will absolutely fight for restitution. They are in essence, ruined. Period. Schu, a pm will be waiting soon. Pictures of them as they were, before being assaulted by UPS will be posted here.. I am sad, I was waiting for good news and now this. I shudder to think what the HF's will look like upon arrival. How could they not be delivered together anyway??? They were damn sure picked up together ?
  4. Well thank you all again for the nice comments and the thread discussions, didn't hurt my sale at all. Sounds like Schu is going to be happy with these even if he can't leave well enough alone Schu, they will be on the way soon.. Mdud
  5. I heard it was a nice town It is a pretty nice town, grown a lot since I was young of course. Thanks,
  6. Local pick up in Tulsa OK is negotiable, thanks all
  7. Hey all, thanks for the nice comments about my speakers The walnut finish is my favorite on any of the Heritage speakers, just looks good to me. The tiger tapestry is pretty too, sorry it's not for sale but I appreciate the comment!
  8. Thanks for the nice comments on the speakers. I wasn't sure about the walnut finish, seems everyone wants black or cherry. But when they arrived I knew they were the right choice of finish, very nice in pictures and in person. Glad to know at least some other folks like the walnut look too
  9. Thank you all, I think they are very pretty speakers as well.
  10. For sale is my pair of LaScala ll in Walnut finish. They are 2 years old, in excellent condition. They are sequential serial #'s and top and bottom cabinet #'s match. They have been driven by 8 watt tube amps since I purchased them, never abused. There is one tiny corner ding on the left front of one speaker, and one scratch under the top driver cabinet of the other speaker, not visible when assembled. Other than that, they are factory perfect. I have all the boxes and packing they came in, along with the owners manuals. They were purchased from an authorized dealer and were built to order as all the Heritage line are. Reason for sale is that I simply don't have the room to make them sound their best, and have moved on to another set of speakers. No issues with performance at all, no other flaws or concerns. Price is now $2900 for the pair, shipping included. Buyer pays PayPal fees, or buyer can pay with cashiers check. No cash sale. More pictures available on request, serious inquiries only please, thanks.
  11. Islander, thanks for your reply again, and the thought you put into it. Yes, I had the Scala's for about 3 days when I began to feel that "old" excitement about having a real good stereo, and wondering what music would sound like what through it! Like waiting to get home from work so I can sit down and "test" my music collection through them. Been a long time since I felt that way about my stereo..but these can create that excitement again for sure~ As for the heater, your right again. I will put something in front of that space to deflect the heat up or at least block it right there. I am hoping to move before too long but for this winter it will have to be there. I had also read here about people getting the glass tops made for their speakers, perhaps I will but also I am just testing a few things on top. I would really like to leave them without decor added but it is difficult. I have moved some different fake plants on top, and added the felt protectors on the bottom of everything. Nothing weighs much at all but I see that it could leave marks and I would rather not. So it is still a work in progress, but I am starting to settle down with them. As I said before, its surprising how well they fit into the very small listening area I have without looking or sounding overblown. Maybe thats subjective but..that's how I see it. My current setup, all MiniMax gear except the Marantz turntable:
  12. Islander, thank you for the time and thought you put into replying to my post. You are correct of course that nothing made by the hand of man is perfect, if you look deep enough. I just thought it was odd that both speakers were off the same amount in the same direction, leading me to wonder if I had made an error or if it might have gotten off in assembly. I suppose Im obsessing about them because I tend to over my gear..Maybe I should rethink that and just let go and enjoy them! There sure is a lot to love about them including the visual impact in the listening area..wow. So thanks once again for the help. To the poster that asked for some pics, let me see if I can figure this out. I'd be glad to post a few if I can
  13. Thank you all for the help, and the exploded view of the La Scala is really interesting, had no idea there were so many parts inside! Even if that is the La Scala original as the poster said, and mine are the 2's. I would have been very disappointed if there had been such a major overlook or error when the guys in Hope were building my speakers. They are huge!, but somehow they still fit into my space and look like they just belong there, even though my listening area is very small..about 15 by 15 really, can't believe they work so well. I do have another little issue with them however. When I put the top cabinets on, they didn't *quite* line up with the bass cabinets. They are both off about an 8th inch to one side. I checked the serial numbers to be sure I had put the correct top cabinets with the bass..but both of them are still off to one side. What's funny is they are both off in the same direction, horizontal to the right, no matter how much I try and line them up. They have a little wiggle room of course when they are sitting on the rubber bumpers of the bass cab..just not enough to line up. I think I can loosen the rubber bumpers and try to align them but I was a little sad they were that way. I don't think I did anything wrong in setting them up but just like the access door, maybe I'm an idiot Seriously, if anyone has any comments about this I would be glad to hear it, and thanks again to the forum.
  14. Well, no one likes being wrong but this time I'm glad I am. Curiosity got the better of me, so I put off work and went ahead and took off a high freq cabinet, slipped the packing cover on the bass bin underneath, turned it over like it was in the box originally and..... ACCESS COVER!!! It's painted flat black against a walnut finished panel. I only **assumed** it was a hole, I never touched it to check. Thank you all for trying to help, and your replies. Mdud
  15. The speaker shaped cutout hole I'm referring to is on the bottom panel of the bass bin. On the top there is a set of binding posts to connect the woofer from the high freq cabinet. No hole.
  16. It would be an awful lot to get a picture of this today. I am still sore from unpacking and setting these monsters up, and I have to work today. I would have to completely unhook one, remove the top cabinet, and drag out the bass bin and turn it over. Maybe soon though if I need to show a picture to Klipsch or whoever. Yes, the 2's come in seperate boxes for high and low cabinets. No, there is nothing left in either bass bin box except packing, all of which was removed from the bins in my living room, so there is nothing hiding. Hard to believe they missed putting them on not one, but both speakers ? Apparently, but if those cutouts are supposed to have covers then neither one does. Sounds like I will be calling customer service ASAP. Thanks for the replies
  17. Hi forum, Well my La Scala ll's were delivered Friday after a 7 week wait, and they are worth it! I have read a lot of Klipsch info on this forum and others, and still was not prepared for the HUGE sound even at low volumes. Even in my small listening area I don't feel overwhelmed with them, and I dont think they are too much either. I did not expect the warm rich sound even though I'm using tubes. No honky bright brittle cupped ear horn sound hear..Yes! But I do have a question about them. As I read through posts pertaining to La Scala's both one and two I found some referring to bass bin modifications, and several mentioning an access door on top or bottom of the bass bin for woofer access. When I unpacked my La Scala's bass cabinets, I noticed a large cutout in the shape of a speaker. I wondered what it was for, so I'm guessing now it is the woofer access? So is there supposed to be a door or cover of some kind over this cutout? Mine are just open holes, on both speakers. Can anyone help? Thanks
  18. Hey, thank you..that's the question I was asking and the answer too. I agree, the veneers look really good on all the Heritage speakers I've seen. I was just wondering about this point.
  19. Hi again, thanks for all the replys. After reading them I realized I should have specified that I was referring to the LaScala ll, not the earller ones. Does anyone know if the factory finishes the back panels on the LaScala ll's ? Thanks
  20. Hi, thanks for the reply. So I suppose they build the Doghouse as a box and then mount the woofer and horn baffle? I could see where that would be difficult to get in there and veneer after it was together! Just wondered why they can't or dont do it before the pieces are assembled? Curious mostly.. The bass bins you speak of, does that mean you can have a La Scala with more than one Doghouse? With a woofer in it? Hmmmm
