I finally found a low hum that started when I added my Parasound amp. It was a ground loop hum. My whole day was made to finally get rid of such a small annoyance.

New lower price! $650. The new speakers are on their way.
Since I am upgrading to new speakers, I am selling my RF-82 II Towers in cherry. Both speakers are in mint condition and I still have all the original packaging. I have had them for about a year. Feel free to search my user name and review my posts.
Retail for the RF-82 IIs: $1,200/pair. I will sell them for $650/pair.

Even though this is a Klipsch forum I thought I would share my soon to be new speakers! I have spent a lot of time auditioning the new Revel Performa 3 speaker line. What an amazing lineup! After careful consideration of budget and room size, I decided to buy the F206 towers with a 5.25" midrange and dual 6.5" woofers. I am adding the C205 center with dual 5.25" drivers. All in piano gloss black real wood veneers. Surround duties will be handled by 8" in ceiling speakers. With our first child on the way, I figured it was now or never!
Why change from the Klipsch sound I like so much? When I originally bought my speakers as a package, the RC-62 was backordered in cherry so I ended up with black. My RF-82s are cherry. My AV rack is mocha. The three different finishes look terrible all hanging out up front. And, as we all love to do, I was ready to upgrade but size was a major WAF consideration. Klipsch doesn't have anything that is "better" than the RF-82 without getting into a larger cabinet. Also, the RS-52 surrounds stuck off the wall too far in my wife's opinion. The compromise is that if I install in ceiling speakers for surrounds, I could get the new front speakers. It seems like a reasonable deal.

I knew they were vinyl. I guess I should say the color is the issue. I don't have any cherry anywhere else in the house. I was originally going to go with black furniture and cherry speakers but the RC-62 II in cherry was backordered for at least a month when I purchased the new speakers. So I settled for the black center which is the reason they are mismatched. Then my wife and I decided to go with mocha furniture. Now the cherry clashes with the rest of the furniure.
I have been searching for different speakers that are slightly smaller in gloss black, but I really love the way the system sounds right now so I have been delaying the purchase. I would love toget the RF-7 IIs and RC-64II but they are too large for my wife to accept. My only issue with Klipsch is that the only way to "upgrade" is to buy larger speakers!

Since my last post I have been busy. I mounted the TV, installed my Panamax power conditioner, and a 5 channel Parasound amp!
I'll start with the TV mount. I ordered a Sanus FMS (furniture mount system). I had to modify my A/V cabinet a little to get it to work with the Sanus Woodbrook rack. I knew this going into the project so I had some 2x4s ready to go. I had to add the wood to space the stand off the top of the rack.
Next step was to do some simple measuring to figure out height,
It was pretty easy to figure out. I referred to the manual to know which tiny bolts went where.

At the end of the last thread I mentioned I left a spot for the next upgrade. It took a couple months to save up but I just picked up the next big "upgrade". I put upgrade in quotations because I have Klipsch speakers that we all know are easy to drive being powered by an already powerful receiver with the front and surround back channels bridged to the front left and right speakers. I currently have no audible distortion coming through any speaker, even when playing very loud. But I plan to upgrade all the speakers fairly soon to something less efficient.

I will give my thoughts on this purchase after it is installed. I will be very honest. My reason for purchase was so I can move to a processor and different speakers in the future. I know that on my hardwood flooring an Auralex Subdude made a noticeable difference. I looked into making my own to try it out but my wife offered to buy it for my birthday so I said "Why not"?
The first thing I noticed was that the stuff hanging on the walls did not rattle as much. Also the bass became tighter with less boomy output. Overall the sound was cleaner with a more linear frequency response. The only thing I added was the Subdude under my 12" Velodyne.

If you have the gain on the sub all the wy up, you will most likeley cause distortion in the sub's amp. I did't look to see which receiver you have but usually Audessey does not like the gain too high on a sub. I would set it at about 50% and re run the EQ. Also, your listening style might be different than mine, but I usually bypass the crossover built into the sub and set the LFE channel to about 80 Hz.

I doubt you will have any SPL issues with 4 Klipsch THX subs. You can measure the room but I am pretty confident 4 across the front will knock your socks off! I have heard 2 different home theaters with THX subs. One had 2 next to each other in the front of the room and it was more than enough bass. The other theater of similar size had 4 across the front. The overall sound output was so effortless and controlled. I drooled a little bit!

I am finished for now. Before I got the rack I was looking at 2 different racks. The one I did not buy allowed me to put the center channel in thecenter of the stand. This rack does not allow me to put the speaker in the center. It will sound better but I did not buy a mount for the TV. So for now I don't have a center channel.
I did not put the backs on the rack because I still have to mount the TV. I put in a URC RF dimmer as well.
My temporary surge strip and cable box.
I left the bottom middle spot open for my next upgade but I need the funds to build a little bit. Who can guess what it is?
My somewhat beastly receiver and bluray player. It allows me to bridge the fronts and surround back channels.

Updates so far:
Installed a PS Audio Power Port
Unpacked and built the Sanus rack
Figuring out where I wanted to put the equipment took some time. The Sanus Woodbrook rack is discontinued and comes with only 2 glass door inserts. I like to look at the equipment to see time on the cable box as well as the audio format for the reciever. Plus, after spending a few buck on nice equipment, I want to look at it and show it off to people when they come over.
The cherry finish of the RF-82s looks like crap next to the rack. I plan on changing speakers this spring when Paradigm comes out with the new Studio series so I the front three will all be black.

Updated pics below!
This is how my system looked a year ago. This was the carry over from the college days. Yamaha speakers and an entry level Sony receiver with 1 digital input.
Then about a year ago I upgraded. Klipsch RF-82 II surround package.
Then a couple months ago I upgraded again! Klipsch SW-115
Then another upgrade. Integra DTR-70.2
Which brings us to today.
NOW TIME FOR THE UPGRADES!!!! I will post pics as I work.

I don't know the laws in your state but usually running an extension cord throug the wall is illegal. But I am sure most of us have done it. One suggestion is to make sure the extension cord is long enough so you don't have any plugs inside the wall.
Don't worry about the proprieary connector on the back of the TV. A standard IEC plug will fit perfectly fine. Some of the older Pannasonics allowed you to remove the locking part of the factory cord and put it on the new cord you buy.

I have owned a couple URC MX-900s and now have on MX-900 in the basement and an MX-980 in the living room. I definitely prefer the MX-980 because it has 8 user programmable buttons at the top compared to the 6 on the MX-900. For my DVR, I use all 8 buttons all the time. I have to switch between 2 pages when I use the MX-900.
The customization of the URC remotes is much better than the Harmony.

If your power cord is loose in the amp housing, just wrap some electrical tape around the end till it fits snugly.

To answer the OP's question...I have a Velodyne DEQ-12r which was replaced by the EQ-Max series. The specs are very similar. I have heard the 10" EQ-Max and it sounded very similar to my 12". I have been very pleased with the performance of the Velodyne. Letting it figure out phase and EQ made a positive difference in the sound in my room. I did not have the option of putting the sub where it sounded best. Rather, I had to put it where it looked best in the room.

Since I am using only 5 of the 9 channels of amplification, I think another upgrade is in order. I'm thinking about adding surround back in-ceiling speakers. I feel like my listening area is too small. I am used to other people's larger, dedicated rooms. The back of my viewing area is completely open to the bar/dartsworkout equippment area so in-ceiling back are about the only option. (Plus ceiling speakers disappear once installed. WAF friendly!)
