  1. I definitely do not agre with this statement. Upgrading to a better/more powerful amp will improve the detail heard. The more powerful amp will be able to control the drivers much better. Think of the sound differences between a solid state amp and a tube amp. They can sound very different.
  2. I used Monoprice 12 guage speaker cable and I am perfectly happy with it. Should you buy a seperate amplifier? Do you feel like you are limited by your 7.9? I have a 7.8 and RF-82 IIs and I love the sound. There is no real strain on the receiver. Having said that, I switched from a DTR-6.5 (100 wpc) to the DTR-7.8 (130 wpc) and I noticed a HUGE improvement. The bass was more defined and the top end seemed more controlled. I am now contemplating a 5 channel amp to possibly realize another large improvement in sound/control. What is your budget?
  3. I have an SW-110. It doesn't always turn off. Sometimes it does, though. It isn't a big concernt to me.

    Integra

The Integra and Onkyo models are very similar. Benefits of the Integra are: an extra year of warranty, detachable (upgradeable) power cord, more finite tweakes in the speaker distance and crossover points.
  5. Is it possible? Yes. Is it practical? No. Sell the 3311Ci to buy a dedicated amp.
  6. The main difference is the crossover network. The chasis is the same for all the architectural line. As for which size to get, if you have the space, go for the 8". For a surround, the 6.5" would be sufficient but I like to over do it.
  7. I haven't spent much time with the Anthem lineup. I do have an Integra DTR-6.5 and an Integra DTR-7.8 They do not have as many features as the others but the Anthem Room Correction is really good at "fixing" room anomolies. Now that I think about it, Anthem receivers don't have a "sound" to them. Which could be a very good thing!
  8. Anthem is owned by Paradigm which is why the rep was pushing you toward Anthem. The Marantz will give a warmer sound than the Integra. All three companies make great products.
