  1. Oh man, I'm really excited for you! Whoever is taking shipment for you: if it's a Central Freight that drops them off, check the boxes!!! They really battered mine and one of my cherry jubs took a ding (since been resolved). Just a heads-up. They sounded great though!
  2. My Jub was sent back to the factory as well to be refinished and tested for full functionality. Thankfully, mine only suffered cosmetic damage and there was no deviation from the spec sonically. Just came back in today (roomie took shipment). No holes or dings in the box this time! Turbox, worth the wait. If it's any consolation, I don't get home to mine for another 5 months so I'm right there with you. mikebse2a3 , what is that box around your 402s?
  3. Actually, I like my 7005 for any source other than a turntable. Agreed the Marantz could use some more attention there. It reproduces SACD/DVD-A rather well though for it's price. To be fair, I haven't heard an Emotiva, but otherwise I would say there is no competition in the price range. Completely agree with the rest of your post though. The Anthem in my book is without equal sonically IMO. It's not just room correction. W.C., I've heard the Anthem (d2) with my jubilees in direct 2-channel. The detail/fidelity and dynamics are just unmatched. Now, my room sucks, and ARC isn't just for HT (although this is where it REALLY shines). In 2 channel, w/ and without ARC engaged, Pianos are articulate on a whole different level. The way instruments blend I really just cannot describe. I love live music, and this is as close as I've ever gotten to feeling it in my living room. Maybe there are some out there that can compete (Arcam came close, definitely above the others I've heard but no Anthem), otherwise I haven't heard any I'd put on the same level. To me, the D2V is the only amp I'd be proud to claim as my combined HT pre/pro and stereo preamp. Otherwise seperate the two
  4. Forgot to mention this, the phono stage in the Anthem puts the Marantz phono to shame (not that hard to do though, I've found the Marantz lacking in this area...)
  5. Heli001, I've been exactly where you are now, and we have similar speakers! I ended up going with the Marantz 7005 and for the price, it is a wonderful unit. I did, however, have a friend bring over his Anthem D2 (older version of the D2V). I've also heard the FMJ AV888 in my system (I have some good friends []). The thing that sets these units apart is the room correction. Audyssey in the Marantz is good, but doesn't hold a candle to either of the others, the anthem in particular. It can literally tame any room, and I've got the room to test it (only 3 walls...). Additionally, the DACs in the Marantz are good, but music out of the Arcam and Anthem just jump out of the speakers and put the band in your room. I have heard nothing like it. Closed my eyes and I was in the front row. They truly are in a different league. The D2V offers upgraded video codecs for 3d, etc. The Marantz is good, and I just couldn't turn it down for the price. That said, it will be going in my bedroom system, to be replaced by a used D2V in my Jube-anchored system. I don't regret buying the Marantz, but I DO regret not pulling the trigger on the Anthem originally. Hands down worth it. The difference was night and day, something you have to hear to believe. I'd put the Anthem up against the Meridian 861 ($20k+) any day. Heard the Meridian, but not in my system. Can't speak for the other pre/pros, but I have first-hand knowledge of these. If the Outlaw 978 EVER came out (not looking good at this point), it would give you a good alternative to the Marantz for similar price but better room correction and DACs. Good luck in your search!
  6. So far so good! This deployment carries a LOT more social interaction than the last one (non-threatening). Learning a TON just from that alone. Quite the experience. I'm in for an eventful, and BUSY, 6 months. Smiling the whole time though! []
  7. Hi Beechnut, Appreciate the advice and I know it's well-intentioned. I actually know all about the SDP, but stay away intentionally. That'd be a step backwards for me. I pull a higher rate of return with current investment strategy. I'm VERY particular about my finances, and haven't spent a penny that I didn't have to spend. I've been very fortunate in the investment, savings, and retirement accounts, and believe me they take priority. Home audio is solely out of discretionary funds (which is only a small percentage). The Jubilee purchase and associated equipment was not impulse, it was a calculated decision planned out over a significant period of time. Actually still haven't touched the money from last deployment. It's going to work for me! [] Not trying to throw spears or anything here, no offense intended.
  8. Hi everyone, Just checking in from my new undisclosed location []. Not a terrible gig, accomodations are nicer here than last deployed location so no complaints. Also, got myself a pair of the new Mode M40s right before I left to keep me company on the flight over and in the evenings here, so all is not lost. When paired with even a cheap headphone amp these babies sound GOOD! Don't have the 40 hr burn-in yet, so suspect they can get better. Although I see the potential in them, they're not up to my X-10s level yet, just IMO. The X-10s have a TON of use on them though and fit the ears perfectly. Looking forward to getting the Modes to that level. They sure are beautiful and comfy in the meantime though!! JUBILEE UPDATE: The day before I left (Fri the 20th), Central Freight picked up my damaged jub bass bin. It is currently back at the factory being refinished and retested for full functionality (shouldn't be any issues there it sounded incredible, just the minor noted cosmetic damage). Should be back at the house safe and sound within a couple of weeks, waiting for me in the box when I return...it'll be christmas all over again! Maybe I'll box 'em up every time I leave so I have a nice surprise to come home too [] Take it easy y'all and spin a record or drink a beer for me!! Dan
  9. Haha, wonder if this works? I think she's confused...[]
  10. YES! Welcome to the club...Here's what you can expect your finish to look like...just got mine and haven't looked back for a second.
  11. Hi Rod, I got your email about a week back. Responded with my serials? Anyway, I don't think mine should conflict with yours. Mine are PTJUBLF11490001 & PTJUBLF11490002 (the scratched one) Can't post photos today as I am currently visiting family prior to my departure, but I'll be home tomorrow evening and try to get them up then
  12. Hey guys, sorry haven't been able to be very active on the forum as of late. I depart for my next "6 month working vacation" next week and the training has really ramped up to get me in the zone. Anyway, back to topic, My front panel is not flush with the front as it is in that photo...it protrudes out so mine is of a different construction method.
  13. [Y] Me too I'm hopin this is your year! The color on the center is cherry, that was a 2011 factory ordered LaScala II in cherry.
  14. Correct, it is 3/4" extending out, attached to the front.
  15. That's a Levinson No331 (100 WPC) 2 channels. Heatsinks are intimidating! I was running the Jube bass-bins with it at the time I took the picture. Been playing around hooking amps up to all different places.
  16. I have filed a claim with American Cinema equipment. They are top-notch. We are discussing options up to me sending it back to be resurfaced and veneered or possibly a new cabinet (which I don't think is necessary). It still sounds AWESOME and is structurally sound, but I do want to get it resolved. Will keep you posted.
  17. I'm countin on it! By the way, Mark from Reno HiFi was gonna let me demo the First Watt in home, but not enough time before I leave. I'll have an order in with him when I get back
  18. Well...I ended up getting the 402, and thought "eh, what the hell? I'll get the bass bins to go with it!" [] K-horns went to father as Xmas present a couple years ahead of schedule. Call me impatient.
  19. A LOT more to come on this thread in about 7-8 months, at which point I will have a room to do with what I please (and the only pics will be movie posters). I'm really excited about it. Regarding sources, the Cambridge and Stanton TT aren't being hooked up here...will wait until new home. Roomie's new PS3 is workin blu-ray duty (not bad), and I'm just running FLAC and .wav files from media PC...still sounding awesome.
  20. And that scratch perfectly corresponds to the hole in the box...claim filed w/ American Cinema equipment now...being EXTREMELY helpful I've had nothing but a first-rate experience dealing with them.
  21. Now, back to the box with the damage...suspicion confirmed... [:'(]
  22. Biggest problem with the room...it's missing a WALL! Opens up into the kitchen, but these things can still sound wonderful even with the limitations. Has me REALLY excited for the next house.
  23. View from behind Right Jub...Coytee that's roomies picture (home owner), but I've never argued! []
  24. Building my own custom entertainment center...heavy oak and finished to match speakers. I'm actually really excited about that it's gonna be beautiful, but won't be done until I return, so pics of that to come. In the meantime...check out what I did with a buffet table! The drawers in the middle have been replaced by amps and the Dx38s...NOT BAD! Threw some shelves up top and, again not ideal but it's workin! That's not the Levinson I have on their now, just mixin and matchin for the best sound...still tweakin but it's gettin good
