  1. I have to admit, I missed it until he pointed it out. []
  2. I have now changed my sig so that it's both unique and related to the product of the board, while only taking up a 120 pixels of verticle space! [8-|] Oh My!, The Humanity! I agree that the moderators here shouldn't have to be on sig duty, smashing unruly signatures. I'm reasonably sure that the forum software is able to (it's a custom board, so I can't be sure) limit many aspects of the signature, including how many characters. It's a simple change.
  3. Just me messing around... having fun for a few, then back to normal.
  4. I also am generally excepted into most boards due to my axtreme affability. [] Apology excepted and no, the "US" refers to the people responding to the topic of this thread, that extremely long tag lines makes navigating the forum tough for some of us.
  5. Changing the sig is especially delicious when the board changes all of your posts to show the new sig!!! Whoop!
  6. Oh My! I see that either this board software doesn't allow admin to set limits on the sigs OR.... The Admin just likes to see what turns up.
  7. OK, lets see if we can have a little fun here. Klipsch Admins, give me a few hours to play with this... We might have some fun!
  8. I completely agree!!! I often access this site on a phone and it gets damn frustrating to have to scroll past 5 pages of signature for a 10 word post. It's completely ridiculous, IMO. And I do have an opinion, as I've maintained and administered more than a few public forums. I have ALWAYS put a limit on sig length and up until recently, I wouldn't let people put images in the sig either. On the one board left that I do admin, there is certainly a signature length limit. Even as much as it bugs me here, can you imagine if more than half the people here put that long of sig in, then it would certainly be addressed. The only reason it's allowed here is that only a few have the multi-page sig. And to the gentlemen who said it saves a few clicks when wanting to see the persons' equip list. I'd wager that you've clicked about 100x more clicks just trying to get past the 1000 character sig, thus severely putting you at a loss as far as clicks are concerned. Now, my last comment would be - what are these people thinking, with sigs that stretch 2-3 pages (of screen)? I mean, is it just that they don't realize how annoying it is to scroll past their sig 5 times in a 10 post thread? Or is it that they just don't care or that they are so proud that the long sig is a status symbol? (I think this is really the truth). It would be so much more considerate to just put all this in your profile and let people click ONCE to see it. Whew, I had to get that off my chest, it's been a sore topic for many years for me. EDIT: Please, people with long sigs, don't take offense - nothing personal, I'm just normally pretty critical of those long sigs.
  9. Rats, typed long reply and then lost it. At any rate, the AVR is the Marantz SR-4023. http://us.marantz.com/us/Products/Pages/ProductDetails.aspx?CatId=HiFiComponents&SubCatId=0&ProductId=SR4023 EDIT: LOL, found this in the description of the unit on the website... "A separate low-pass preamp output lets you add the powered subwoofer of your choice as well. " You'd think I could find where the low-pass is set at, eh?
  10. I'm a bit confused. My AVR has a sub out but doesn't have a crossover Value. How should I configure the RW_12D? I'm using KLF 20' s in this 2.1 configuration.
  11. Cask05, that is hilarious in a way... the Mosquito... I kind of like that idea and wonder if I could apply that technique to some of the teens in this area... LOL, thanks for sharing that. []
  12. I have a fair bit of empirical evidence that indicates that the response is inversely proportionate to the amount consumed, until the sweet spot is achieved and then it's all downhill from there. [8o|]
  13. Very Good, you are the winner as the only person who's tested. [Y] I sure am tempted and if I'm not mistaken, I might be able to get the company I work for to cover it. Maybe. But only up to 10K? Pardon me for asking, but isn't that a bit low? Maybe I'm misunderstanding something. [8-|] It occurs to me that a simple program on the PC, a freq generator, output to some headphones would be a valid test. [:#]
  14. So, after all that discussion about speaker response and accuracy, I've found that I have a couple of newb questions. [] I've found that the biological imput equipment varies greatly. I seem to have been blessed with a fairly robust bio system and so myself and friends have noticed a distinct variety of hearing abilities. None of us explored it in any detail, but now I'm thinking~ Where does hearing ability come into play here in regards to the performance of the speaker system? [6] I'm 50 years old and althought I haven't read up on it, I'm reasonably sure that a person's hearing diminishes in relation to age. I remember in my electronics lab many years ago, that we performed a non-scientific test of who could hear how high of a frequency. As I recall, many of us (young people) couldn't hear above 15k or so. And I've had many friends with problems hearing high frequencies. I have no anecdotal evidence for low frequencies. Q: For anyone with any possibly of compromised hearing, shouldn't a comprehensive hearing test proceed any high dollar purchase? Or rather, maybe more to the point, is the average person's hearing up to the task of qualifying the accuracy of reference speakers and systems? Q2: At what point is the average person's hearing diminished to below the point of reference listening? I know that due to the lack of non-objectivity, these are difficult questions. But surely if hearing tests show that a person can't hear above 10-11-12K (whatever), or below 250 (whatever), that person would be best served by not chasing those frequencies. [8] I also understand that not hearing 15hz doesn't mean you can't feel 15hz.
  15. Hmmm, my phone is a Samsung Galaxy S Not sure what version? New about 3 months ago. The only thing I can't get to work is the double click, which is strange. I also admit, the software is rather primitive. But it does work for me.
  16. I have now had time to fully check out the S4A. I'm sure I won't hit the level of review quality of the post above, but I'll tell you what I know at this point in time. (EDIT: I should mention that since I'm alone while driving for my job and alone when I'm working those jobs, I tend to listen quite alot to podcasts\music from a personal player. I've been using various players\phones\earbuds for more than a few years, but of course that in no way makes me an expert, nor do I claim to be one. This is just opinon and observations below). Packaging: No doubt, it looks good in the package and it's shame to have to tear it up to get the product out. I always keep my boxes (which is pain, say with KLF-20's) in case I want to re-sell and having a torn up box does no one any good. Construction: I have had no issues with the quality of the construction. I could be picky and say that I'd rather have a braided cord rather than rubber, simply because the rubber sticks to itself. Braided won't stick but often has the disadvantage of transmitting noise when the cable is moved or touched. I still like braided better. I detest having to pry these rubber headphone cables apart after being coiled in a case. I also prefer a 90° strain relief on the plug end, as I find they last longer. I can't explain why, because in theory the straight plugs should experience less stress (especially during a drop, when the straight plug will just pop out) but the 90's last longer in my experience. Sound Quality: Ha, all subjective but here goes~ These earbuds sound great if you can get them sealed. They seem very flat to me, with balanced highs and lows. I do admit to loading some wav files which I don't normally do. Naturally, the Klipsch sounded surperb with these music files. The phone call quality is at the top of the class for me. Not only did my callers sound clear as a bell, but when questioned about my voice quality, they said it was clear and without any echo or boxiness. I also tested this is some noisy enviornments (tho not in wind) and the answer was the same - my voice sounded clear as could be. Functionality: This unit has software that needs to be installed on the phone for full functionality. No biggie there. The unit has one button only that can select one of three functions. Hmmmm. The biggest deal for me in are the voice commands. I'm finding that it works as described, with some difficulty in the phone recognizing what I've said. I think that's mostly the android system and not the Klipsh unit. If I were to wish for the world, the Klipsh software would add a "nickname" field to contact lists, so you could use the voice commands to call "mom" instead of "Phoebe Rumplestiltskin". I've created new contacts for now, (have a contact named Mom now) until I can find a better way. There is one button that can be clicked once, double clicked, or triple clicked for different functions. Each of the three can be assigned different functions relating to music or phone. I've found the single click and the triple click work find. I cannot get the double click to work!! Very strange. I have not researched this to find out if others are having this problem, nor have I called Klipsch yet. I will figure this out and\or call when I have more time. Other Stuff: I like alot of bass in my music and if I didn't have these earbuds "sealed" in my ears, I didn't get adequate bass. This is no different than any other earbud, and so then the issue moves to ease of sealing. These buds don't seal easily, IMO. I did try the diff sizes and as usual, I ended up with a large size and in the case of the Klipsh, the largest size. Even then, I have trouble with sealing and found the upside down or L\R reveresed worked the best for my ears. I've found the best sealing buds to have those contoured rubbers, and am finding the normal "rounds" to be at a disadvantage in this dept. As a reference only, this is a set that I own, that seal quite well on the first try every time and sound fantastic (but these are for music only, no mic) http://www.squidoo.com/boseearphones
  17. Thanks for the invite, I'll sure keep it in mind. [8-|]
  18. "sir deck" - LOL, you can tell when I'm posting from my phone... my phone and this site don't get along well at all. Well, I backed out of the deal. The guy doesn't have the boxes (I like to have boxes) and they are Forte's instead of the Forte II's that I wanted. They are also about 3 hours each way to pick them up. (tho I was hoping to use a work trip to minimize cost). Thanks alot for the information and pointing out the mistake in version. I'll buy ya's all a beer if I ever get the chance!
  19. I value your opinion James if you like your KLF20's better+ that give me an idea of what to expect. I'll sir deck that they at.the correct version.
  20. Thanks for the info Jeff. Glad to hear you are still enjoying yours.
  21. Gahh, Klipsh speakers are habit forming. I don't mind but my bank account is showing signs of stress. [:@] However, I'm looking at a set of FII's, from original owner, he says in near mint and rubbed down yearly with oil. I might replace those KP-201's (sell them to recoup $) and so two questions... Is $500 a fair price, given the limited info? Seems fair based on searches here, but I've been wrong before. A few fuzzy pics here... http://omaha.craigslist.org/ele/2666650002.html Also, I'm betting the Crites' Ti diaphrams will fit this tweeter? (I already have a spare set of these). Thanks!
  22. Sorry that I'm so slow... as in slowly checking out the different functions of the S4A. This weekend, I'll detail my experience and what works for me.
