  1. The bigger problem with digital recording is the way the recordings can get messed up with all the manipulation that can be done.If you used an analogue mix desk and fed it into a digital recording device today, you will get a better recording. Even Ray Charles was using digital technology late is his career, when the were remastering his material. I had an article with an engineer who worked with him and he said R.C. was fine with it. No tape alignments, no oxide issues or speed problems. Vinyl is great for being able to see the pictures on the cover and to read the liner notes. I have a collection of vinyl and keep a turntable. Like any medium, there are good to great recordings, and those that go the other way, too. I've lots of great CDs. I just hope I'll be able to always have a CD player that works.
  2. I have a friend in San Diego who runs a jazz club. I've never met his wife as I haven't seen Chuck for probably a little over 50 years. Anyway, his wife paints, does sculpture, etc. She was studying with a Japanese artist. I love her watercolors on rice paper. I've meant to ask her prices for some of these, as they would look nice in our home.
  3. I know folks have used Titebond, but other PVAs should also work. This article describes doing it: https://everyrecordtellsastory.com/2015/05/25/how-to-deep-clean-your-vinyl-records-with-wood-glue-and-ten-things-that-you-shouldnt-use-to-clean-your-lps/
  4. Did it sound better? You didn't say.
  5. Forgot I had this... Leo Kottke - Ice Water, from 1974.
  6. I think Titebond is ok, but they make a lot of types. I know it's a PVA.
  7. My Heresy IIs are about 45 inches off the floor on top of some large cabinets. They are on their sides, with the tweeters on the outside. Imaging is superb and they sound massive.
  8. Those look really nice. They would be no more than a 30 minute drive, too. However, the budget is tied up with other things for quite a while.
  9. Well, this isn't mine, but another BBC winner (I think... can't locate it again). I did find numerous photos of polar bears in the wild, but none matched. I just love how they can sleep in those conditions.
  10. @Fish hey Fish, where you been? Haven't seen you around for a while. It's been pretty quiet here, not like the old days.
  11. Livingston Taylor, Karla Bonoff and Sean McCue. Just delightful. I saw Livingston (James Taylor's brother) years ago. Linda Ronstadt recorded this one of Karla's. https://youtu.be/ZDM5qW6i4kc?si=QF1CRerWy7FD9BYH
  12. I would love to live back in a small town, or in the countryside somewhere.
  13. Catchy, catchy.melody
  14. My boss is a little ocd and runs non stop all day. Most of the departments decorate around certain holidays. For Halloween, he made a fake fireplace with bats hanging from the ceiling, and had a trigger set up to play Halloween songs for those who got near. He redid it at Christmas, and decided to leave the fireplace going. The fire is actually a large monitor play a loop of a real fire. Today he put a "mouse" in a rat trap he had.
  15. A friend of mine in Tasmania posted some pics of pies. I thought the baker lived there, but she is in Croswell, Michigan. I am imagining they taste as good as they look. The fancy ones start at around $30.
  16. Anyone post Boygenius?
  17. No, they are right across the street from where I work. Our facility takes care of people with intellectual /developmental disabilities, from grade school age up until they pass away. We've supported some individuals for over 50-60 years. https://www.orangegrovecenter.org/history
  18. We had a busy evening at home, but this was on the news: It happened around 2:30pm in the 2700 block of Vermont Avenue near Notre Dame High School. Police say they arrived at the scene to find one person with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The unidentified victim was taken to a local hospital. Police say several places, including Notre Dame High and CHI Memorial, were placed on lockdown to allow officers to make sure the area was safe. ----- Our offices/campus is about four blocks from where the shooting took place. We ere on lockdown, and they finally just let people leave, but locking the doors behind them as they left. Wife and I stayed about another 45 minutes and then went home. Tons of traffic like nothing was going on. They haven't found the shooter as of curent news.
  19. Well, we are on lock down... There is an active shooter reported somewhere between the Catholic High School, and CHI Memorial Hosp. We are on the other side of the hospital from the school. Everyone is just still busy doing our work. We have active shooter drills once a month.
  20. He wrote all or almost all of his own songs. Pretty amazing career.
  21. They are called spudgers, although I have used an old gift card/credit card and thinned a corner so I could remove parts like that.
  22. Probably the ones you gave me... I have new caps on the way. These sound great up on the Snails.
  23. Can't help you with that. 🤣 Radial makes similar products, so I could see them phasing out similar products. Radial hasn't made transformers, I don't think. They've been using Jensens in theirprodu ts and have a lot bigger portfolio of products. Perhaps the transformer prices will actually end up less expensive.
  24. The Atlanta perimeter has folks driving 85mph+ (136km/h+). That's way over the posted speed limit.
