  1. Congrats Wuzzer! I've managed to drop to 145 over the past three weeks. A little work stress, a lot of relational stress, and couldn't eat much. Now I'm eating, but it doesn't take much to where I'm satisfied. If I hang right here, I'll be really happy. I have soooo much energy. [] My gf is pretty happy with it too! Bruce
  2. What's the damage on the current surrounds? If there are splits, you can repair them for cheap... then decide ifyou want to go ahead and spend the money to get replacements. The longer you play them damaged, the quicker they'll get worse. djk turned me onto Weldbond, a water soluble adhesive. Remove the woofers from the cabinets and lay them face down. If there are splits, you can use cigarette papers or other tissue paper. Thin a little of the Weldbond andput patches on the back sides. Then put some thin ( thin 3:1 or 5:1) coats all the way around the back sides. Then put a couple of thin coats all the way around the front of the surrounds. It dries flexible. I spent an afternoon doing a friend's pair of JBLs, and they ae holding up great. And the sound is good. Does it change the compliance? Probably... Enough hat you can tell the difference? Probably not. The JBLs we not usable, now they are. It would only cost you around $5 and an afternoon. I put on a coat... did other work while it dried. Put on more... so it goes. Ignore the naysayers!
  3. I've been so tempted to build the Tangent 400 cabinets out of some nice baltic birch and move all my drivers over from my HIIs. All off a sudden there would be more bottom end. Then I'd have to store the HII cabs...[]
  4. I have a bunch of barred owls in the woods around my house. It's great to hear them talking back and forth at night. I've seen them early in the morning, but it's hard to find them to get pics once the sun is up. Red tails are in the area too, and usually a family of turkeys grows up through the summer and wanders through the yard. Hey Mark, you feeling recovered from your accident or still got some healing going on? Bruce
  5. The Tangent 500 is slightly larger (taller) than the 400. It uses a passive radiator instead of ports as in the 400. I would stick with what you've got if it were me. The 400 has slightly less power handling, misses 3 Hz on the bottom that the 500 has. I wouldn't think it is worth the trouble to change. They both use Heresy II parts. Bruce
  6. Hmmmm, did you try the 2407 on the smith horn? The 2402 is only rated up to 15k and drops off. The 2407 goes a bit higher. But it is nnice when it just works.
  7. Mike, Those are really wonderful show pieces! Greg's work is stunning to say the least. Every little bit more he gets done to those and it's WOW!
  8. I won't take offence, but I imagine all of the G-K users out there could. Theyactually biamp the bass driver and tweeter horn. Pretty awesome sound, Michael and I know that Josh loves the one he has. But don't take my word for it. It isn't the thwap but clarity in the high end.
  9. You won't be able to cross as low as you wanted, but I think Gallien-Krueger crosses their woofers over to their tweets at around 5k. You could go a little lower, and still probably get away with it.
  10. Save this and use it from now on and you won't have to explain... [] I could take out the other moldline if you want... Bruce
  11. You could also put it into html mode in the editor, so you can see what you are doing. It's at the right end of the editing toolbar. Bruce
  12. Kinda makes me glad I have made it to 60...
  13. Chuck, You make a lot of assumptions about Trey and his wife. I would rather just pray for him/be thinking of him. The both of them actually. Bruce
  14. You are actually not too far off from Al's layout. The biggest problem would be interaction between the three inductors, and looking at your pics, it might not be a problem at all. My own crossovers are a lot simpler, and I have my parts spaced out a lot more, mostly because I had the room.It is a real art to do these and make them look pretty. Bruce
  15. I would try these on a small horn. They have more power handling and would work better fro the application. You can get a small horn fairly inexpensively. I think you'll be out less money for a better match. A Dayton 1 inch horn 4.5x4.5 is around $5. You don't want to cross the tweeter too low for a bass application. http://www.parts-express.com/pe/pshowdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=264-225&ctab=2#Tabs
  16. Some of the motor run caps had oil with PCBs, and yes, pyranol was the GE brand of oil containing PCBs,. I wouldn't want to be opening any of them.
  17. No, neither the positive nor the negative speaker lead is connected to the frame/basket of the K-33 woofer. The voice coil is independent of the basket.Bruce
  18. You don't want to cross them any lower than 4500... and part of it depends on how loudly you listen to your music.
  19. This maple looks incredibly 3D. Rotating this guitar or similar, produces some beautiful changes.
  20. You got rid of your MWMs? That is hard to believe, Claude.
  21. Barbara and I were married for five years, got divorced and then became belivers. We remarried in '77. Things only got better until '05 when cancer took her away. Keep Him at the center and you will come through ok whatever happens. You certainly have my prayers!
  22. My late wife always said, "Sin makes you stupid." I am certainly not saying what he did was ok. It was not. A reputation, your name, is lost in an instant. I am just glad that God is more merciful than we are. If not, we are all lost forever.
  23. Even from my undoubtedly biased Catholic view, it is a beautiful piece, and meant to glorify God! Nice work!
