  1. I later asked how did the name "Jubilee" come about... committee? Pacing back & forth debating a name? Drawing out of a hat? Roy said "easy... PWK said the jewish 50th anniversary (or holiday?) was the Jubilee" (I think that infers the Jubilee COULD have been finished in time to actually be the 50th anniversary Khorn but I have nothing to base that on other than the above comment about the holiday) Don't know if that answers your question but that's my understanding. Richard - this was exactly where I was heading, given the 50 year mark to be a year of "Jubilee". It would certainly make a lot of sense, coming from Paul and Roy.
  2. When did PWK first come up with adding Jubilee onto the Klipschorn? Does anyone know? Bruce
  3. Boom, That I don't know. I thought the cabinet design was the same until they changed the placement of the woofer on the CIII. (other than the two port/three port difference) Althought, he doesn't show where these are routed for the recessed/front mounted drivers. Those were drawn up by Jim Easley, from dimensions given to him from different members. Haven't seen him around lately to ask. Michael may know if there's a difference in cabinets between the I and II. He is the Cornwall King! [Y] Bruce
  4. I have a brand new one pound spool of 2% silver solder. Still finishing up the other spool, and it has taken me ten years to do it. Even with the cheap temp controlled iron I have, it flows quite easily. I have it packed in a box at the moment, but I think it is Kester.
  5. The 60th Anniversary model is very, very good, indeed! That would be great option.
  6. jc, are you going to sell the 510s? I would imagine, like most things, that newer manufacturing techinques could greatly improve the performance of a Smith Horn. Although the wood ones look beautiful, one made out of the same material as a K402, would be much cheaper to make and easier to get within the specs you want. On the flip side, having the 402 on cabinets in my living room wouldn't bother me much. It is about the sound. My hat's off to Roy for the excellent work he does. As long as it all moves forward. Attaching the whole article on the Smith Horn... the first ones were very crude. The septa (Smith calls them islands) weren't symmetrical, like most are made now. 7. Not meant to rile anyone. They are the most expensive model and Klipsch has models at just about every price point. I think they all have a place. []
  8. Neo, where have you been? Haven't heard form youin quite a while. The Palladium is the high end of the Klipsch line, still being tweaked/voiced and ready to roll out to the marketplace. It's not your father's speakers for sure. Bruce
  9. No, but Mr. Widget's horns are gorgeous!
  10. Here's the polars from the original Smith, which looks rather crude compared to the quality level we can build today. This is from his original article on construction of the horn. The dotted lines are for a multicell horn. I wish the scans had been better. The Smiths are beautiful horns. I believe I have read that they are pretty much a 90 x 60. I'm also remembering that you can't get enough high end with the Smith, so you might have to do a three way, which is a non starter for all those who just got a good sound on the two way system. Bruce
  11. Mike, I think you will just have to make a trip to visit Maron to hear his setup. I like them for their aesthetic beauty, and have never heard them. Certainly a higher WAF than the 402. Bruce
  12. Ok...I'll try... With all your loving comments about passives, alignments, lobes and the like... I thought I was reading comments by Al K... are you related? (ok, how'd I do?) That is priceless... except he knocks extreme slope crossovers. I built a set of the DHA2 crossovers, and they were not very expensive at all. Plus they added the constant impedance into the mix, which is a real plus with my SET amps. Marion uses passives in his Jubs, powered by 300B amps. I would love to hear those sometime. Bruce
  13. I have a few Steve Miller albums on vinyl.... and always liked him.
  14. [:$] That's ok... it was still better than most of the other local stations.
  15. On the way home from Atlanta last week, I hit one of the buttons on my car radio. It was some high powered Hispanic station. I couldn't understand a word, but the music was far better than the regular rock stations i've heard recently. More dynamics in the music, better arrangements. Far different variety. The lyrics may be awful, but I enjoyed it for the hour or so I could get it. Bruce
  16. Repairing the tear in the PR would not be that hard, and for its use, probably not change the compliance any significant amount. I had a pair here for a while (they were en route to another forum member), and one of the PRs had been repaired. There was no noticable difference in performance between the two speakers. You can get the diaphragms replaced in the mid and tweeter, andalso get the crossover brought back to spec (usually all that is needed there is capacitor replacements).
  17. Here's the two and three port dimensions. The grill is the same in these drawings, which someone else could verify. Bruce Cornwall_Plans.pdf
  18. If melanoma metasticizes, the odds are very poor for survival. And the stats for that aren't getting much better.
  19. The upgrade is specifically for the HII, not the original Heresy. I believe the only thing still used is the cabinet and the mid horn (H700 I think). Everything else is replaced.
  20. This might give yo the info you want... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Getter
  21. Looks almost exactly like the ones I took out of my LS (mine aren't as dusty... [*-)]). I built new crossovers to replace them with.
  22. That would mean that AltmanEars would have 20 feet behind him. Lots of extra space back there. I just rearranged my living room, and now have my LS only 8ft apart, center to center. In from the side walls a bit now. I sit farther back than I could before, at around 13 ft., and the imaging and soundstage are much better. They are also firing straight into the room. Don't you love this place? Bruce
  23. Tap water in most locations has too many chemicals in it, but a $30 pitcher w/filter can remove them. If you make tea or coffee with filtered water you don't need to use as much tea or coffee and will get a much better taste. The fluoride in most municipal water supplies reacts with aluminum cookware, putting aluminum into your system. Fluoride will begin to replace the iodine in your system, and can serve almost the same function except that fluoride is around in huge quantities and is toxic. (higher iodine levels will also protect your teeth, if I have read correctly.) Apsertame (Nutrisweet), the sweetener in most diet soft drinks, is also not good for you. It is a mood altering drug and can cause vision problems. Other soft drinks use corn syrup as a sweetener, which has its own problems.
  24. DUDE !!!!!!!!!! I will take that comment as an attempt at humor !!! And I don't think that is even pointed at you. AltmanEars... the Jubs in the literature are the full commercial versions... some of the other folks who have dressed theirs up need to post pics for you.

    Will it take off?

Is the woodchuck on a conveyor belt, designed to move as fast as the woodchuck chucks? I've always wondered...How much ground could a groundhog grind if a groundhog could grind ground?
