  1. I have them with different wood grains. This isn't complete, as it is missing the piece across the back that fits just under the top. It is a 3 inch piece that goes the width of the cabinet. I have meant to add it for a long time. I also have a couple of different views, and made a wallpaper sizes (1024x768).
  2. Excellent work making the 1inch exterior. I like them! [Y][Y][Y][Y][Y]
  3. The LaScala_correct.pdf IS correct, with dimensions provided by a multitude of members of this forum. The measurements are very accurate. I also have exploded view of the cabinet to give a better idea of how the pieces fit together. Bruce
  4. This is making me laugh so hard! My wife had some crap Sound Design receiver... in her dorm room. I soon had a pair of JBL 4311s. What a journey it was with her. I know she would have liked the LS sitting in the living room now. Can't believe how much I miss her sometimes. Bruce
  5. One would expect that the JBLs would blow away the tweeters that Bob sells. I put Bob's tweeters in my LS and love them. Definitely a very good match. I just don't have the money for the JBLs. By all means, try them both. My son put a set of Bob's tweeters in he original Heresies. A great upgrade choice, and I am not at all disappointed with them in my LS either. Bruce
  6. My nephew is an engineer for Sketchup. He started working for them right before they were purchased by Google. His engineering degree is in lighting design, and I think they hired him to work on the rendering engine. Now he is manager on one of the projects. A very cool program. And, no, he can't get me a good price on any of the software (the big package is $495) Bruce
  7. VRD is a monoblock tube amp, from Craig Ostby (NOSValves), and BBX is for Blueberry Xtreme, a tube preamp from Mark Deneen, at Juicy Music Audio. Bruce
  8. Kelly, Everyone has their own opinion on the Heresies... If you stick with them, the obvious choice is the HIII, but requires more money. I would take the HII over the original Heresy for a couple of reasons. Having had both in my house, I find the HII to be more tonally balanced than the original. If you want to end up with LaScalas or KHorns and need the Heresy for a center, then the drivers would match better from the original. I have not found the bass really lacking on my own HIIs, and they are currently about two feet off the floor. They rock really well. At higher volumes they really rock. But I have them in my bedroom, hence the stands. They are the correct level while sitting in bed. A pair of Chorus II would be an excellent choice, and I personally think they are better than the Cornwall. Size wise they are easier to place, although they have a rear facing passive radiator. Mid and tweeter are a more optimum physical level. No one actually answered this question for you. Getting the crossovers on old models back into spec or with better parts can vary quite a bit. There are some folks on here who will do it for you or help with what needs to be done if you are willing to diy. They all sound good, even great when the match up with the amp if good. You need to find someone with these models and see if you can give an audition. Bruce
  9. Steve, Get the newest version of Solaris for your PC, instead of Ubuntu. All the Sun software is free now. We just got a new Sun workstation at our school, with dual AMD CPUs and 6T of storage. Yup, 6 terabytes of HD space. Pretty fast box. Built like a tank, too. I got the newest version of Solaris, but have been too busy to install it at home. Bruce
  10. Very incredible... sure makes my feeble attempts seem weak.
  11. That would be tempting... very tempting. Bruce
  12. First question is whether or not the instructor will allow her to record the class. Some won't allow it. And the cassette recorder or cheap digital recorder is much easier to deal with, as Mark says. The easier it is, the more likely she will use it and get something out of it. Bruce
  13. Mark makes an excellent point. It also makes it easy to reverse the phase, blah, blah... Bruce
  14. I had some info from Tom Danley somewhere that told of the time delays on different horn frequencies... the lower being very late compared to the up freq. I can't find it right now. Adjusting for them was not a trivial matter. Bruce
  15. Mike, I was actually thinking of the Beyma CP21/F, a slot tweeter. They go for around $130-140 each. I think the Beyma with the horn is a CP25. JBL has a slot tweeter... can't remember the model, but it uses the same diaphragm as the baby cheeks. Bruce
  16. Mike, How do the Selenium slot tweeters sound. Not as costly as a set of JBLs. They ought to do pretty nicely. I've considered them for another project of mine. Bruce
  17. [Y][Y][Y][Y][Y] on the LaScalas!
  18. I can't sleep!!! I just got back from Hong Kong... Unscrew and re-tighten all the connections on the terminal strip and try it again. Bruce
  19. cheap, indeed... you can get an Epson for less than $100 that will work great, and also probably be faster than one that is gathering dust. Bruce
  20. A good friend of mine works for ASCAP. He has as much as admitted to me they work by threats and intimidation. He travels around and finds businesses which are playing the radio, playing CDs, tapes. THen he tells them they need to pay a fee or go to court. He is a songwriter and member himself, but says you will not benefit much at all unless you are an artist who sells in the millions.
  21. What I find most amazing is that your daughter is already two years old. Hope all is going well tis you and your family Jeff. Bruce
  22. That is one of the most dangerous things I've seen in a long time. I would at least have a box wired with a complete disconnect.
  23. Kinda what I was thinking, too. Really be a hard one to prove though.
  24. Damon, I hope you are taking it personally... How's the house going? I haven't checked the other thread about your HT in quite a while. Bruce
